| Forum Reply | Do McKennas boys have the mental strength it takes? at 12:16 27 Apr 2024
It is a Cup Final. We win this and we're 90% there to promotion. It's like Barnsley last year. We have to be totally focused on this game alone. We need to give everything for these 3 points. Compared to having to win the final game with Huddersfield at Portman Road where we're goalless after 75 minutes and Leeds have just taken second place in the live table and there's disquiet and panic in the stands .... that would require mental strength. Just win it tonight. |

It should just be the same approach irrespective of the Leeds game last night - just focus entirely on this one for a win. Just like Barnsley last season. That was deemed the defining game... and so is this one. |

No gloating...... but lets not be too timid, too. Read some post where the poster writes he'd take two draws leading up to the last game. If we end up drawing... we'd take it.... but we're going for 3 points. Why would we be satisfied with 2 draws when we've been given another golden opportunity.? There isn't a rule where we keep on getting results go our way and we can draw our way to promotion. We need to be ruthless and not try and belly-flop over the line. |

I'm coming around to us playing them in the semi-finals. Southamptons pathetic showing the other day feels like they'd get a pass to the final... and it's up to us to stop them. Good vs evil sortathing. I don't have a problem with them taking 4 points of us from a football point of view as I think they deserved it, but they were an annoying distraction when we were on a promotion push. This will be real business now. |

If its their cup final... then we have to make it ours. Fed up with all this over-thinking and micro-scoping every result and any tenuous links.... just win this match. Forget any other match until after we play Hull. If we wanted to cruise to promotion and have early promotion parties, then we should have beaten Watford and Boro at home. Biggest cliché in football.... but one game at a time. Focus on Hull alone... beat them ... then we go again. [Post edited 25 Apr 6:41]

A slight diversion but if we do sign the trialist who scored the other day, Mason Cotcher.... can we have the headline " Gotcha Cotcher". |

It's not simples because we've spent the last 10 days going down every tenuous rabbit-hole trying to find a route to promotion. For me, 3 wins seems too much of a mountain to climb. Especially since we've lost once and drawn 2 of our last 3 games. Going from 2 out of 9 to 9 out of 9 from 3 games seems too big an ask. Prefer to go for one game at a time 3 times. |

I still don't understand how this result gives us an advantage.... but ..... whatever. If anything, this result or the extra time on the legs gives Hull an advantage midweek... and they're our next opponents. But if we're in the business of finding advantages from anywhere then so be it. We might just have to beat some teams with good old fashioned nous and a bit of elbow grease. |

So what if Coventry knacker themselves so much, they get trounced by Hull on Wednesday and giving Hull instant good form before they play us. It's so confusing. |

"Generally, if you get the first goal against those teams, you most likely will have an easy match." Cardiff v Southampton? Saints first goal? Easy match? I do think you have a point.... but generally is maybe nearer to sometimes than always. |

Us and all the top 4 clubs have everything to play for .... yet we've all been stumbling. When will the " nothing to play for " myth be busted? Maybe there's an advantage for a less pressured team vs a highly pressured team to add to the algorithm? |

It might still be in our hands, but that's only if we win all our games. I'll be amazed if we win all 3. Let's be honest..... we don't look like we could from recent form. We're going to need a bit of help. If we come to the last game with Huddersfield and all we need is a win.... then I'm in the "It's in our own hands" club. Until then, it's cross your fingers time. |

I'm trying not to think too hard about this because these last couple of years might be the best that we will have for a long time. Even if we get promotion.... it might not be the same. I love this group of players as we've all had adventures together in an upward trajectory... but promotion will mean this group splitting up further and it might go sour in the PL. Not worth thinking too hard about as we could easily be languishing mid-table in League One. We just have to enjoy it while it lasts. I'm completely OK about us not making it to the PL..... apart from one thing and that's the possibility of one certain team getting there instead of us even though we might finish with 15-20 points more. |

Here's just one example of Everton's stupidity. Luke Garbutt. At age 21, it's likely a PL side would part company with a young player of that age who hadn't broke through. However, they decided to give him a 5 year contract of 28k per week. Lower league player who's now at Salford in L2 and who is also a multi-millionaire thanks to Everton. |
| Forum Reply | Has KM worked with Dele Ali before? at 06:37 17 Apr 2024
If Dele Ali wants to be taken seriously he'd give himself reasonable targets. WC 26?!!!!! If he gets a Championship club and sees his career out in a professional and relatively successful way at a lower level he'd do well. Not in the slightest bit interested if he has a daily 11am reminder of WC26 on his phone. Is he getting up early every day and giving everything with his rehab? That would be more impressive. I know he has a story and I'm not getting into that, but he's been an expensive failure for a few seasons and taken the p1ss out of clubs and fans alike. |
