I read that we are the 10th club to have consecutive promotions from the third tier to the first.. But we remain the only team that has won the second tier and then the first a year later. Thanks Alf. COYB |

Makes me think of really big games that I have been to. The FA Cup semi against WBA at Highbury in '78 The Final at Wembley of course. The home game against FC Twente in the UEFA Cup Final '81. (We won 3-0) The away leg was spent half way up my stairs with a tranny trying to get a good signal. " Wtefra ....Wark ........gtthc forward ........ llddhj..... Mariner ....fnnafvgsrw ..... Mills trip ......" 2001 Play off semi against Bolton !! 5-3. My eldest got back to the car and slumped into the seat and said "Gosh" Do you have any idea what it takes to get a 16 year old to say "Gosh". Final at Wembley Exeter last year Hudders this year......... |

Am I right in thinking we have taken 191 points in the last two seasons and scored 191 goals ? |

During the 70's we were known as the nation's "second" favourite club. It was all a small town doing well etc. Since then we have lost that accolade. Until Now. Go on any football club forum and they all want us to do well. (Even Maidstone). There are exceptions of course, mostly north of the River Waveney (But we ignore them anyway.) and Leeds for some reason ? Enjoy it while it lasts. Bask in the positive aura it is giving the Supporters, the Team, the Club, the Town and Suffolk in general. Soft power at it's best. |

If we don't need the points against Huddersfield, what is the chance of No 17 getting a bit of a game? |

This is inspired by a conversation with 3 generations of blues on a train to Lowestoft on Saturday. I hope they got their flag back. The time is coming close. We know it is going to happen. The last game against Hudders. But have the club learnt from the fiasco that was the end of the last game last year. I doubt it. They have tried to reduce the problem by getting many of those who they perceive will run on the pitch by moving them upstairs to Block A of the Cobbold. However, there will still be many who want to run on at the end of the season and celebrate. The powers that be should recognise the pleasure for supporters being out there where their heroes have been a few minutes earlier. In past years I have done it and it is a wonderful, joyful experience and a whole different perspective of the ground. Supporters on the pitch at the end of such a season is a positive thing. But they say the safety of the players must be paramount ! I agree, so why did they handle it so appallingly badly last year ? Mostly arrogance I expect. "This is my club, I have bought it and you supporters will do what you are told. And I am telling you not to run on the pitch". Mmmm. That went well did n't it. What they need to do is plan for a peaceful pitch invasion. Set sensible rules. We're Ipswich, we will comply. I suggest Tell the supporters that at the end of the game they must allow the players to get off the pitch. When the Ref blows his whistle they have 10 minutes to run on, dance and enjoy the moment. "Come on you Blues". At the next blowing of the whistle they must all return to the stands. So that the players, their wives and kids can come on and take on a very well deserved lap of honour. After all, who in Blue does not want to see that after the season we have had. But no, they won't learn. They have n't learnt about the Norwich tickets. It will be a fiasco again. Prove me wrong. |

Trawling the various football forums shows distinct differences Leicester https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forum/1-leicester-city-forum/ Foxes are bed wetting because they have lost a massive lead. And they have done much the same for the last 3 years. However, although many still think we are lucky, a significant number also appreciate how well we are playing and are very jealous. Leeds https://www.motforum.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=1 These are wholly Leeds, others discuss other teams sensibly, Leeds dont. On the odd, very odd occasion they will admit that the Blues are doing well. But they do that with the frequency of a Yorkshireman admitting that there might be some southern beer that is ok. Southampton https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/5-the-saints/ Saints are a pragmatic lot. Not given to high excitement. One thread argued that if they won all their matches they would finish 4th and if they lost all their matches they would finish 4th. Most have given up on anything else. Budgies The Pinkun forum is probably very familiar to many. They are strangely obsessed with us and are totally convinced they are going to beat us in the playoff semis. COYB |

Since Cameron's goal on Saturday we now have 19 different players who have scored a goal for us this year. We might have not got the top scorers, but the strength in depth is amazing. Perhaps we should call Hladky a slacker on that side. :) |
