My one wish

I hugged Craig Forrest as he sprinted off at the whistle that day and remember wondering at how large he was.

You’re not agitating for a change of government, you want higher taxation & for people to shut ip and take the medicine. Haven’t you learnt anything from the last couple decades? It won’t be the 1% paying for what you want regardless of a blue or a red team behind the door.
Very difficult to get past your “many” comment. All those teachers nurses and shop workers with huge Vanguard funds class 1 Berkshire Hathaway shares and second homes in Cornwall.

Why do you want to give *more* money to a class of people who have already proven they don’t know how to use it? The most hopeless political class since 1914?

I find this ridiculous. Your solution to our highest levels of taxation since WW2 is….more taxation. You want to give even more money to people who have proven beyond doubt their incompetence.
We need new politicians not new taxation.

And I have no clue where you get the idea that “many” people are well off.

Will you be disappointed…
at 07:46 23 Apr 2024

…if we don’t make it this season? As in genuinely authentic disappointment at a lost opportunity and (maybe) losing the best young manager in England.
On the one hand, yes of course Chico duurrrrrrr we all want success.
On the other, I dunno about you but I was holding a vague hope for a cheeky tilt at the playoffs this year as opposed to this nerve shredding shoot out for top two we are now in.
I don’t think I could find it in me to be disappointed? This season and last have been so good it almost feels like betraying something to feel any more than mildly irritated if it doesn’t happen.
Guess we’ll see, and it’s still in our hands.
COYFBs.

When we are promoted I truly hope we don’t become as classless and tinpot as Forest have become, a great club I have always liked and thought of as one of our contemporaries.

Super keen on getting a caravan over here but can’t get the spend past The Management. And if it annoys people like Clarkson all the better. I’ve always liked the idea of one.

When I were a lad (caution; Modern Britain post)
at 07:46 18 Apr 2024

Lot of talk about capitalism ITT. I think I should say it doesn’t cost anything to use the court. It’s just a couple of added layers of bureaucracy that 14yo me didn’t have to hurdle or worry about. For me it feels more a societal thing than a money thing? They told me they are kept locked for cleanliness and HSE reasons…🙄

When I were a lad (caution; Modern Britain post)
at 07:13 17 Apr 2024

When I was a teenager me and my few mates used to play loads of tennis.
We would just walk to school where the courts were and play. They were open and kept in a decent condition. You would just….play, for as long as you wanted.
That’s over 30 years ago.
There are tennis courts near where I live now. They are kept permanently locked. In order to play you have to get a code off a private company that manage them and give them your mobile and address.
Similar quiet middle class towns in the Home Counties.
What changed in those 30 years? Why was this given to me but taken away from modern children?

I know what you mean but I think Henderson does give us a certain something. Maybe ballast? Experience? We have so much forward talent that we do need to balance it off with someone who can play alongside Rice rather than ahead of him in tougher games.
