Blimey, 48 years supporting the Bee's and we have mainly been rubbish, years of league 2 and league 1, had given up all hope of even getting into the championship let alone the PL, you don't follow the Bee's for glory just a faint bit of hope, so look happy, I don't care if it's only for one year, if you are a Bee today is very special |

Not sure I would wager a grand on it though |

We sure are in big trouble, the problems started before Smith left think we were 5 games without a win when he went, feel sorry for TF we improved when he joined as a coach but it's looking like he is someone whose a good assistant but not a number 1, we are home to Bolton Saturday, lose that one and I think he will be gone, we have recently promoted our old captain and B team head coach Kevin O'Connor to the first team coaching set up and also rumours of Lasse Vibe coming back from China to take his place. Still think we can turn it around we have some decent players but we also have the youngest team in the championship and this is possibly working against us at the moment, we need a couple of experienced old heads out there at the moment. If we do go down with MB at the helm I don't think it will take our usual 30 years to get back up, he's an ambitious owner who has backed us well over the years and we have our nice new stadium opening season after next, he's not built that to be content with league 1 football, although it's all a bit crap at the moment if you are a Bee overall these are still our best times |
| Forum Reply | Brentford lose their manager to Villa at 11:56 11 Oct 2018
It will be Thomas Frank our assistant head coach who joined us in Dec 16 for when exactly this situation came up, i believe previously managed Brondby for 3 years. Would be amazed if it's anyone else. 'Re Dean Smith, can understand why he's gone for it what with it being his boyhood club and all that and although he was good for us we gave him plenty of time including one run of ten defeats in thirteen or so games, can't somehow see Villa having that kind of patience |

Don't want to lose Maupay, joined us from I think St Etienne and done OK for his first year in the championship, he's only a small lad but one who really gets in there faces, I reckon he's got decent potential, was also linked with Huddersfield couple of weeks back, if you are after him think it's a good sign your style of play will be changing under your new manager, no point going long with Maupay he's more your ball to feet in and around the box |

Sorry, maybe I gave the wrong impression, you are right about Mepham who we picked up when he was released by QPR academy, not sure who you are referring to 're the keeper though, Bentley came in from Southend and our reserve keeper from Scunthorpe, we also have Bonham who was loaned out last year and is not expected to make the grade and will most likely leave, so far the B team players have only been called on for the odd game when we have had a number of injuries but that's not really a surprise when we are still very early into the B team set up. This year we should see two break into the first team at some stage, the England U19 keeper I mentioned if Bentley moves on and a centre back Sorenson who is highly regarded, like I say it's early days but we are hopeful it's going to work for us, |

The B team system does (so far) seem to be working for us, we went with this because we also lost two really good young lads who went to Man U and Man City, I don't think we even got any money for them as I think they both went when they decided not to sign a professional contract after obviously having been tapped up by the Manchester clubs. So now as well documented we run a B team with a mix of youngsters who couldn't quite make it at bigger teams or more recently and what seems to be more the case now kids who are doing well at there respective clubs but see a move to the B team as a real chance of breaking into the first team with a championship level club in the knowledge that if they can make the breakthrough they will get match time and if they do well we will not stand in there way if a bigger club comes in for them. We have just promoted our B team keeper who is also the England keeper for his age group into the first team squad and given him a lengthy contract, he no doubt is being lined up to replace Dan Bentley who is getting close to a big move. We have replaced our B team keeper with the Iceland under 19 keeper who can obviously see the career path that could open up for him. Another benefit of the B team we are seeing is that when a B team player is called into the first team due to say an injury crisis they are pretty much ready to go and always seem to do a decent job. The B team are now seen as good opposition for a lot of the bigger PL clubs reserve teams along with a number of top European clubs, we play and get decent results against Man U / City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, A.C. Milan, Inter, Benfica etc, it gives our B team players really valuable experience It's still early days of course but we now have two or three players a year coming through and gives us a bit more depth in quality, For a club our size and with one of the smallest budgets it's the only way we are going to be able to compete in the crazy world of championship money. |

We didn't sack Warbs he decided to leave when we asked him to give up his veto on transfers as we were moving to a team of four to decide who we signed, when it was announced he spun it via a mate at the Sunday Times he was sacked. Matthew Benham gave him his first chance in management promoting him from a DOF role, he also went for the Norwich job without informing the club. To begin with his football was great and we all loved him however it also soon become clear teams had worked out how to play against us and almost every goal conceded was with a long diagonal ball over the top of the two high up centre backs or from a cross, Warbs teams do not know how to defend and it was a very similar story up at Rangers with also another very bitter falling out. Although I think he was sacked from Forest to soon I would be very cautious going for Warbs, just think back to our defending in the two games in our first season in the championship against you |

It's not quite moneyball but along those lines, our owner and life long Bee Matthew Benham has a business that sells statistics to very wealthy people who like a bet, it's this information we use to highlight the type of young, technical ambitious player with bags of potential, once a player has been identified we then scout them about 20 times and also do a lot of research into there character, players come to us instead of bigger clubs and more money as they know they will get game time. They also know when the time comes and a further opportunity comes along we will not stand in the way, as a club we need to make about 10million a year to make up the shortfall, it's frustrating when they leave as we always seem to be on the verge of having a very special team but with each year we seem to make enough money to reinvest at a higher level, we started out buying players for about 500,000 but now tend to be at the 1- 1.5 million level. This summer we are likely to lose Watkins, Woods and possibly Mepham and Bentley, if they all go that could bring in 25-30 million which I reckon would have us shopping at the 2-4 million mark per player It was only a few years ago we were buying at 50K in league 2, amazing times for us Bee's Just out of interest our B team strategy is also working out well, we have beaten Benfica, A.C. Milan, Man U and Chelsea in recent weeks all with 18-22 years desperate to break into the first team Not meaning to come across Billy big Bollox just that we have been rubbish for 50 years up until about 7 years ago [Post edited 15 Apr 2018 17:48]

Woodsy still lives in Staffordshire reckon he will end up at Villa (if they are still in the championship) he's a great little player although not sure he's PL standard been a great signing for us |

Not sure what Andreas is planning, might follow his fellow Dane Lasse Vibe to China for one last big pay day, had a slow start with us picked up a ACL injury after a couple of games which meant he only really got going for us last year. We have had a good number of centre backs the last few years so he wasn't starting every week until we sold Harlee Dean to Brum in August, since then he has really come into his own and started most games for us, very good in reading the game although lacking in pace, would like him to stay but it's not going to happen, as a young team we benefit from his experience. See you all on Saturday, |

What you on about it's a great game for away fans, loads of boozers right next to the ground, friendly home fans, not to far to travel from Ipswich, second from last game to visit Griffin Park( new ground from December 2019) Understand all your feelings towards MM/ME but enjoy the day out |
| Forum Reply | Ryan Woods - Brentford at 22:28 4 Nov 2017
We love Woodsy thought he was outstanding today, we play him deeper this season just in front of the two CB's we have been a bit of a light touch in midfield over the last couple of years but we seem to be able to mix it up more this season, had a slow start but now on a good run of 9 unbeaten next up Cardiff away which will be a big test |
