So what are we all doing today...
at 00:02 6 May 2024

Watched my youngest son take two wickets for West Yorkshire U14s cricket team to help them beat East & Central Yorkshire U14s by five runs. A great game of cricket to watch. Yesterday he had Cieran Slicker on his shoulders!

Furthest anyone is travelling from?
at 19:26 3 May 2024

Travelling with my two sons from Ilkley in Yorkshire as we do most home games - roads should’ve fairly clear to start with at 5.30. I know of season ticket holders in Edinburgh, who beat us by some distance.

Anyone else at the League Cup semi-final at St Andrew's?
at 23:06 2 May 2024

Yeah, awful night at an awful place. Was living in London back then and to compound matters there were problems with the trains and don’t think I got back to London until after 2am. Went there again for League when they equalised in stoppage time and their fans pelted us with coins - a Dad with his kids was bleeding from a cut to the head. Will always remember the ‘chief’ steward coming to ask the other stewards what had happened: “didn’t see anything”… Always disliked them since, happy to see them go down.

I’ve been married and divorced since we last made it to the Premier League and now have two sons who I’ve taken to games since they were very young. They, as we all have, have had to endure some awful seasons and football, and as we live in Yorkshire they have had to put up with some cr@p from friends (and non friends) at school, but they’ve stuck with it and I’m as delighted as them for the way we are now as anything.

Today is also my Mum’s funeral, which meant I couldn’t go last night. However I’ve woken up today with a big smile on my face and knowing the day, although will be a sad one, can also be a proper celebration of her life for me.

Apologies

I have commented on a lot of posts today, mainly in response to the reaction to the Norwich game or ticketing issues and may not have have been that polite in some of them. Had a few too many for a Sunday, but my Mum died this week and it’s not been the easiest few days. So sorry if I offended anyone.

The big own goal regarding ticketgate is the potential of the playoffs isn't it?
at 20:11 7 Apr 2024

It’s a chance you take. But why shouldn’t those who have been regulars at away games this season and in League One last season have priority? It’s not complicated and I really don’t understand why this debate is still going on - apart from in the context of the club own goal with the Norwich game.

I started the season on five points for just for buying the membership and Norwich is the first away game I’ve wanted to go to that I couldn’t (been to 12 away games). People end up missing games for any number of reasons, unrelated to buying for points and I’m sorry but the away games I’ve been to have been packed out or still had tickets available. You make it out to be some scandalous thing that’s happening every away game. It definitely isn’t.

You buy a season ticket to guarantee a ticket for a home game, nothing to do with away games. Those people who put in the time, money and effort to travel up and down the country through the season deserve to be prioritised for away games. No way having a season ticket should mean someone is prioritised for the odd away game now and again they may want to attend throughout a season. Previously you could also buy a gold card to get away game priority and now there’s a new system in place, which isn’t perfect but rewards those people who go to most away games.

Todays ticketing
at 17:40 7 Apr 2024

That’s exactly the issue here. Did they to Sunderland, Plymouth, Middlesbrough or Bristol City on a Tuesday night? I very much doubt it. Makes a mockery of the membership scheme that many of us have paid out for, let alone all the other costs involved in travelling to away games. I was never going to get a Norwich ticket with17 points but for those that just missed out… I’d be livid. A massive club own goal. Thought we’d left this behind. Also concerning for next season if we did get promoted.

I didn’t get a ticket yesterday but have been to 12 other away games this season many of which I’ve left with hardly any voice left to talk from singing. So I’m not quite sure what you are talking about.

I said to my sons straight after we had sang the song that it was the loudest version I can remember at a game we’ve attended home or away

The cream of the championship

Without doubt the worst away end I have been in this season for so many reasons. Add to that the awful stewards who wouldn’t let my sons back into the stand when they went to the toilet because they didn’t have their tickets on them - I did! When my eldest explained this, he was told to call me (this was just before kick off so I couldn’t hear). In the end I had to go looking for them. So I was in a bad mood before the 4.0 result
