No New Injuries Ahead of Portsmouth Clash
at 13:20:37

Give the lad a chance. He is young and obviously has something about him.

I believe JET will prove his worth given time. The team/squad needs a blend of players. We all moaned when Keane built of team of workmen with no spark/creativity. Unfortunately, young and creative players with the ability to turn a game, do blow hot and cold.

Good performances and better consistency will come with time, experience and SUPPORT.

Edwards Pleads Guilty
at 13:11:37

A custodial sentence costs the tax payer money, and will cost his wife and kids his presence at a time they need him most. A very heavy fine, will hit him in the pocket, and make a positive contribution to the government. Let common sense prevail....

Leadbitter Turns Down Initial Contract Offer
at 12:43:56

Interesting time for the club when offering deals to average championship players. Our current form suggests a play off place (or better) is within reach. Do we really need players that will not be able to cut it in the 'promised land' on decent contracts.

Leadbitter is an average Championship midfielder. Looking at any squad, you will want to continually improve on what you have, and of the current batch of the clubs midfielders Leadbitter is probably the weak link. I would shift him out in January for a fee and invest in better.

Jewell: The Duke Has Something to Prove
at 13:04:10

Only time will tell, but I've a feeling that PJ has got it spot on in signing players with previous proven class and something to prove. When PJ re-installs that confidence and 'prove the doubters wrong' team spirit I can see us being quite a formidable force.
Give them time and judge them after the new team settles in.

Leicester Agree St Ledger Fee
at 13:08:45

All these posters saying bid higher - A fool and his money are easily parted.

If PJ thought he was worth a transfer fee of 1.2 (the figure that PNE have accepted) he would of gone there and tried to seal the signature on personal terms and the clubs ambition.

There are always a lot of factors involved, and at the end of the day the total package wasn't palatable to town or the club wasn't what St Ledger wanted.

Sunderland First to Make Wickham Bid
at 14:19:31

There is no guarantee that if we sell Wickham all the cash will be given to PJ to buy additional players. Furthermore, even if this happens, there is no guarantee that this will get us promoted.
In the Championship over the last couple of years, the likes of Blackpool, Norwich and Swansea have all achieved promotion without massive injections of cash to buy new players. Furthermore, plenty of teams who have thrown cash at transfers and wages are still here, Us, Leicester, Cardiff, Middlesbrough etc
In an ideal world, I would like Connor to stay, AND PJ make sensible additions to the squad.
Saying all that, contracts are contracts, and when the release clause is triggered, if Connor wants to talk and leave, the club then has its hands tied.

Portsmouth Confirm Norris Signing
at 12:44:13

Norris time at ITFC, coincided with the worst spell since the Duncan era. During this period he always put in 100% and chipped in with a few goals, for which we should be grateful. However, whilst I believe we would of been worse off without him over the past couple of years, I am actually pleased he is going. He kind of epitomises the club during this period - average championship at best, hard to get out of your seat, never going to be legendary.
Moving forward with Paul Jewell, I am more optimistic than I have been since Burley. Early signs are he wants to build a team (with youth and experience) which will evolve into an attacking attractive outfit.

Ipswich Want £11 Million for In-Demand Wickham
at 13:44:08

I believe that ME, SC and PJ have done a great job securing our most valuable asset, Wickham, to a longer deal. We are now in no rush to sell him and when we do sell him we can be sure we will get a decent fee to help bolster the squad in several positions. Furthermore, as a statement of intent, if it's true LFC have only bid £5.5m for Wickham, I would love the club to issue a Newcastle style statement using the term 'derisory offer'.

Town Again Linked With Chopra Bid
at 13:53:19

First of all - great job TWTD. Keep these rumours and links coming, its what makes the close season interesting.

Secondly, I find a few of the posts above unbelievably negative and naive and pointless. In particular, IF a bid has been placed, the club would be confident that they could offer realistic and attractive terms to the player. They will be aware the type of contract the player currently has and will believe that they can compete with that, in terms of wages, bonuses and length of contract.

Thirdly, why keep battering ME, SC and PJ. Give the management team time, we will be able to judge the success of the summer dealings once the season is in full swing, and the success of PJ tenure once he has had a full season or two.

ME continued investment has taken this club from a dire financial position for which we should be thankful. This investment will continue as ME now needs the Premier League for a return on his investment.

SC in all fairness has to do his job inside the financial parameters set out by ME.

And lastly, if anyone thinks PJ isn't bothered about being a success at Ipswich then they are simpy deluded.

Bullard\'s Future Still Up in the Air
at 14:10:32

The club must know how frustrating sagas like these are to the fans.

Presuming the club know by now that a deal can't be done, it would be good PR if they released a statement to that effect to stop all the speculation.

By the way, if Bullard managed to negotiate that deal at Hull without representation, he always has a long and successful career ahead as a football agent ahead.

Ramsey Inducted into Hall of Fame
at 12:59:19

The Hall of Fame is heading for trouble unless the club can start competing for trophies again. With the exception of arguably Matt Holland, there hasn't been a player since the EUFA side of 81 worthy of sitting alongside the legends of the early 60s and 78.

Youngsters Would Benefit From Loans
at 13:04:29

Well said, Garv. I'm really bored of people slating Clegg for not paying over the odds. Only an idiot pays over the odds. If Clegg payed over the odds for every player he is accused of letting go, we would be back in adminstration. Remember what happened to Leeds?

Town Target Villa Defender Beye
at 13:33:41

Financial considerations apart, I think it makes great sence to target expereinced pros in the loan period. As long as the desire to play is there, there is no messing around with untried premiership youngsters that haven't had much first team experience. You get a player that comes in and knows how to the get the job done. When it comes to permanent signings, cheaper lower league 'gems' and solid championship players in their early to mid-twenties must be the way ahead.

Austin Agrees Burnley Deal - Reports
at 12:50:01

I think people on here are being rediculously harsh towards Clegg, without knowing the facts of Austin's choice - clearly, a deal could break down for a number of reasons. Furthermore, if the presumption about him wanting more money than we were prepared to offer, is in fact correct, then surely Clegg should be praised and not slated. As a club, I'm confident we pay decent wages, I would guess well above the average in our division. It would be suicidal to spend outside our means, as once started, this always spirals out of control.

Austin Agrees Burnley Deal - Reports
at 13:21:16

To move forward, I believe we would really benefit from a Director on the board, that really knows football. A football man that doesn't interfere with the coaching and playing side of the club, but is there to advise the board, ME and Clegg. Whilst ME is faceless, as fans we don't need an egotistical hands on owner, he has quietly gone about investing in (and dare I say) saving our club. Clegg, whilst not a football man, is obviously proficient as a corporate chief executive, able to run 'the business'.

To me it seems that where we are falling down, is the boards inability to act decisively (and rationally) in the one side of the business that holds it all together - the product.

The product the fans want to invest their time and money in, is ITFC - an entertaining footballing side, with pride in the badge, professional and sportsmanlike. To reiterate this point, the majority of the fans I know would rather see us playing entertaining and passionate ocassionally losing football, than win at all cost route one football.

Unfortunatelty, the vast majority of fans don't want our team moulded in the shape of Roy Keane past. Furthemore, the vast majority of the fans, can look at 18 months of signings and loan deals, formations and tactics, and with very few exceptions quickly determine that they are 'just not Ipswich'.

To me, it seems the board are unable or unwilling to see these things. A football man on the board (I don't like the phrase Director of Football - but you see where I'm going) could make things a hell of a lot clearer to the decision makers.
