I I understand this is a long shot but…
at 13:16 14 Feb 2024

Does anyone have a spare ticket for tonight? I’m London based so can easily get to the Den. Haven’t managed to get any tickets this season at all and have a free evening. I do understand that times have changed in regards to ticket resales.

I’d love to see…
at 13:54 26 Apr 2023

The Wednesday fan I met in eastern France in an Irish pub again. Was working out there for two months and he gave me dogs abuse about how we’d messed it up and they were going to walk the league. It would make me feel a lot better about paying to watch a grey screen on ifollow for Oxford away. I don’t like what this club does to me, but I wouldn’t swap it for the world.

This virus thing

Currently in North Eastern France for work and I have to say the vigilance and mask wearing of the locals has been excellent. There is a nasty fluey thing going around (I’m coming to the end of it) but the responsibility of the community is quite clear to see here.

Rugby Union
at 13:27 14 Mar 2022

I used to be quite the avid rugby fan. Until I went to Twickenham that is. An awful day surrounded by seriously unpleasant people, overly obsessed with the tactical side of it coupled with a gladatirorial blood lust. Doesn’t help that the england team were a particularly unsavoury bunch (Dylan Hartley at the helm).

At school I played to a pretty high level but, perhaps I was unlucky, my teammates were particularly unpleasant. The only time I’ve ever been beaten up was by a group of rugby players because I confronted them about being unpleasant to a female friend of mine. I don’t know what it is, but it seems to attract a rather different type of person.

Not that football is free of it of course. But In my personal experience I feel far more at home surrounded by regular football fans. And football, for me, has more tactical nuance. Rugby just seems to be bigger/faster the better.

Nothing against anyone who loves it of course. Not for me any more.

Quite saddened by Meatloafs death - which got me thinking.

Palin, Bob Mortimer, Billy Connolly would be the main ones I’ll be truly upset about.

The last two I felt badly were Terry Jones and Anthony Bourdain. Kitchen confidential is one of my favourite books of all time and his tv shows (along with Palin) really helped discover places I’ve been in both for work and holiday.

I’m glad you haven’t heard it before. It does mean that the minority is extremely small.

However, I definitely did hear it, twice in two separate places last night. Granted, not sung by many but it was clear as day. And my mates who were with me heard it too.

Just because you may not have heard it before, even though it must have been sung at some point because you’ve heard OF it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t get sung even by a tiny number of fans. I personally haven’t heard any racist chants/comments at Town games before, but I do know for a fact that they have happened.

Yes the majority of people were just having a decent time and it was by far a minority of fans outside the George and on the train. It just sickens me that these numbskulls think it’s acceptable. The ones outside the George were definitely of an older generation of fan but the guys on the train were younger.

Pretty ugly stuff

It was outside the George in London Bridge that I first heard it. There were a couple of coppers around but they seemed to have their hands full. Then when a couple of guys started it on the train I did step and say that it wasn’t acceptable.

Absolutely. No shortage of the marching powder around the pub yesterday. They were all pretty open about how much they’d got on them as well

In amongst all the distractions last night, I was appalled to hear the Fashanu chant making the rounds again.

Hang your heads in shame if you are on this forum

I’ll be there with a couple of mates. One long term town fan and an adopted one. Borough Market from 3ish. Probably the George or Market Porter. Can’t wait!

I seem to remember a John Wark attempt…

No I remember this one vividly. There was definitely a Wark attempt which didn’t go in but got me on my feet. I THINK it was against West Ham in a friendly but can’t be certain.

Extremely similar to Celina’s effort yesterday but either missed or hit the bar. In exactly the same spot as well. I think it was a friendly but can’t be sure. I remember it being a true piece of magic but I was very young.

I thought I’d delve into the TWTD forum memory banks and ask if anyone remembers any of the details of that game. The knowledge of those type of things is usually extremely impressive on here so I thought I’d have a go.

Berlin!

I lived there for a while and it really is the most wonderful place. All the recommendations are good from others. Get out and about in Kreuzberg on a night out. I tend to avoid the West of the city nowadays as its simply not as interesting as the east. Buck und Breck for drinks (it has a secret entrance and only allows 14 people in from my recollection but has amazing cocktails). Grab yourself a curry wurst from Knoppke’s Imbiss (good area for drinks too). Wouldn’t bother with Berghain as you’ll likely not get in. It’s great fun but there are other places equally as fun with a much more lenient door policy. And Markthalle Neun for all sorts of foods delights.

Long shot I know, but…. Wycombe tickets

Just a quick ask if anyone has a spare one or two tickets for the Wycombe away game. If you do, would you mind popping me a DM?

Many thanks

St Pauli

Have spent a fair bit of time in Hamburg, including a few St Pauli games. You’ll have a tremendous time. A lot of fun. Used to stay in Sternschanze, not too far from the Millerntor. It’s a very good place for bars. My local used to be a bar called Das Lemon which has an old school German bowling alley in it. Lots of very good Turkish food as well round there.

Try and get a trip to Miniatur Wunderland as well. One of my favourite places on earth!
