Really poor management with Clements, skinned once and hauled off. There were worse than him on the pitch.

For those of you comparing this to Hurst, you all need to remember one thing. Hurst had a Club Captain who didn't want it to work and even held team meetings behind the Managements back to ensure they failed.
Cook does have a clean slate with no one able to undermine him. Yes it is a big ask, but give him the chance as hopefully his attempt of the much needed rebuild will not be sabotaged from within! |

I'm sorry, and I expect abuse and loads of marking down, but although it is sad to see players who have given years to the club and deserve due respect for this, im not sure the tag of Legend is deserved.
Yes top 10 in appearances, but in a poor team in poor leagues and winning nothing during this period. Players like Mills, Walk, Beatty played games in top leagues, won accolades from peers and International recognition. They are legends, and the reference should be kept for such people.
Great servant, committed yes, but Legend..... reality please! |

This will be an interesting watch regarding certain players. There will be new players regardless of the league we are in next season, BUT certain players may think they have a better chance of another year in League 1 as eve in their own over inflated Egos, they must realise Championship football will 100% spell the end of their time on easy money.
Have they got the best interest of the club or their own pocket??? I think if the effort levels are similar to Rochdale the question will be answered.
I think hard-nosed American investors will see through the shouting g and fist pumps and will see players for what they are.

I think there are players here who do not want to go up, as if we did there is no chance of them being given a new contract, stay in league 1 and they might get another years money for doing sweet FA! It smacks of when we were in the Championship play off year. Players then clearly didn't want to get promoted for the same reason.
I'm so glad I have kept paying for a season ticket AND pay for away games on iFollow. I hope the players enjoy our money for doing a lot less work than the fans who have normal jobs!! |

Paul Cook is giving you the freedom on the pitch. You can hear him clearly on iFollow, constant encouragement and his interviews clearly indicate he is trying to get you all to do more, but simply you are not good enough to do it.
He can't get you to judge a high ball correctly, he can stop you pulling at the oppositions shirt when you repeatedly lose it by turning into them........ Stop the talk, start earning the very comfortable livings you have. The manager is clearly giving you the trust and encouragement, now show you actually half as good as your egos think you are. |

There is no coincidence that Chambers has been ever present over the past few years and we get gradually worse. He makes more costly mistakes than most but his role as Captain keeps him in the team.

Today typified the club for a long time. Players there for the money, not the club. No passion, no belief. I lost count of how many times Cook would shout the same instruction, I know he has a scouse accent but surely professional footballers who had a good weeks training should at least attempt to do what he is asking.
I just really hope he has the balls to get rid of the older players who are not good enough and are not going to change or take us forward. There is a reason certain players have played week in, week out as we have dropped from a decent Championship club..... THEY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
All the mangers have had faith in them and all the managers who have done have seen the club spiral downwards and then get the sack. Maybe someone who knows about football might see the link one day. The fans seem to have, but apparently we know nothing...... |

Sorry bud starting to get worried by Paul.Cook and the fact he may not be the messiah we all hoped for.
By now you would of assumed he had a rough idea of his team, but more changes. Sears, who has been really poor and assisted 2 of the Gillingham goals. Chambers in at centre back ahead of Woolfenden and after 1 poor game Kenlock is no where to be seen. Chambers has poor match after poor match but is always in.
I am now getting to the stage of betting how many times Dozzell gives away stupid fouls and tugs at his man's shirt rather than betting on shots or goals.
Not confident about today, is Cook trying to help Wigan or is he already running out of ideas????? |

Will be interesting to see if PC is looking at a Duv 1 team rebuild or a Championship stabilisation rebuilt. I think that will have a bearing g on who is kept.
Regardless though it should be goodbye and a Genuine Thank you to Chambers. I am not the biggest fan of his on the field due to his constant error packed performances, BUT, he has been a good servant to the club and it should be recognised as such. I fear he will get another year as he does seem to hold a position over certain people at the club. Imagine how much stick he will get after another year, where he will be slower and as such embarrassed even more. If that does happen it will be toxic.
Mr Chambers, leave with dignity and the respect of the fans due to what you have achieved. Dont bury your head in the sand and tarnish your legacy to the club even more than it is starting to do. |

Sorry but our midfield were woeful. Dozzel needs to learn how to tackle rather than constantly pulling at shirts or fouling. He gave away our first goal with yet another stupid foul in a dangerous area and was lucky to to have conceded a penalty after giving the ball away again.

What a difference 8s made by having solid centre backs, who are just defending and letting everyone else play football. The Parrot / Norwood combination is showing some good early signs of both being hard to play against and Norwood is a finisher.
I thinknit is clear the pressure is now off Lambert, as he knows he's going and the players know they could be replaced is they don't cut the mustard.
