| News Comment | Scowcroft Reveals Sleeping Tablet Addiction at 13:46:43
I seem to remember James getting a lot of stick from a minority of fans (Jamie Clapham similarly). I have a memory (too random to have made it up) of one of the ‘bedsheet brigade’ taking a homemade banner to a match that read “The Scow Must Go.” I think he may have been blamed in some way for one of the Burley era play off frustrations. Underrated player. |
| News Comment | McKenna: It'll Be About Our Performance, Focus and Mentality at 13:36:39
I'm a Town fan who moved away from Suffolk more than 25 years ago. I still attend a few games a year but have been watching FGR on and off for the past decade. Recently I've been going a lot as a result of my 11 year supporting them. This year we've taken the plunge on season tickets. Saturday will be a really odd experience for me. I can't lose! I fully expect the Town fans to out sing the home fans (who are pretty quiet with the exception of behind the goal). There's a few uniquely FGR touches Town fans will notice (wind turbines, nature walks, electronic advertising boards pointing out climate change statistics). Do have a Q-Pie… yes, they're vegan but they're really good. As for the game I think it will be an excellent one. Dare I say a marker for both teams. If Town do a professional job it will look good for the rest of the year. If they rock up, expect three points agains the little village team they could come a cropper. |
| News Comment | Merry Christmas From TWTD at 20:44:01
TWTD is for life, not just for Christmas. First thing I do every morning (whilst having my morning constitutional) is to check TWTD. I don't know where we'd be without it. Aside from being THE essential source of ITFC news, I've had questions answered about health and parenting. My wife refers to TWTD as “your version of Mumsnet”. Keep up the good work chaps. Imagine what it would like on TWTD if Town actually did well! |
| News Comment | Cook Desperate to Give Fans a Cup Run as Barrow Visit at 14:35:47
I watched Barrow play against Forest Green a couple of weeks ago. They're a relatively limited team beset by injuries and illness at the moment. Against FGR they set up to do a spoiling job. £5 on a Barrow victory tomorrow then given our recent Cup record! :-) |
| News Comment | Town Close in On Celina Loan Signing at 12:30:15
London_Blue I captained Brazil at the 1982 World Cup…. I'm not sure that the level of football I have or haven't played at is relevant? If only those with high level experience are deemed to know what they are talking about then this board would be a very quiet place! I think it's perfectly legitimate to question Cook. I'm sorted of voicing similar sentiments to what Cook himself said last week when when he referred to “earning the trust” of the fans. His results since taking over are abysmal. And I found his attempts to motivate the squad last year with his public “demolition man” comments to be odd in the extreme. Wouldn't disagree with the sentiment of what he was saying but not sure why he went public with it. As I said in my original post I really hope it all works out. I'm not one for calling for Managers to be sacked. I'm just a little surprised at the level of slack that Cook is being cut compared to say Jim or Mick. |
| News Comment | Town Close in On Celina Loan Signing at 09:57:13
Roulette Cook heads to the casino again! I know I'm going to get downvoted but there frankly isn't much evidence that Cook has what it takes. 19 new players (if we get three additions) and the entire squad he binned last season, says to me that either his man management is a slow burn affair or he hasn't got what it takes. It staggers me the room people are giving Cook yet Mick got hell and he had to operate with 50p and two arms tied behind his back. Let me guess…. All it takes is the signing of Curtis Tilt and all will slot into place (that was the final piece of the jigsaw for many under Hurst). Look, I really, really want this to work out but I just don't see any evidence of it yet! My |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-2 AFC Wimbledon - Match Report at 17:50:07
Those that point to Cook needing time tend to overlook the record he had last season. Abysmal last season. Abysmal this season. He motivated the squad last year by throwing them collectively under the bus. Woeful man management. Now he's assembled his own squad. How long do we give him? I think he needs 4 wins minimum from the next 8 games. I hope he turns it round. I don't think he will though. |
| News Comment | Edmundson Bid Accepted at 16:56:22
Suspect I will be downvoted but I am just passing on what I've been told by an Oldham fan….. “ Strong and aggressive. Never came on as well as we hoped, he broke through early with us, if we'd given him a full season with Peter Clarke he would be a different player. Has a mistake in him and can get in bother of an evening. He might blossom but I wouldn't be dancing in the street if I were you.” I wonder how many people lauding this signing have seen him play? I remember not so long ago many people were calling for the signing of Curtis Tilt as the ‘final piece in the jigsaw.” At the moment all we can do is place our faith in PC and his team that Edmondson is a gem. |

I have dust in my eye…. I'm not welling up…. That has reminded me of why I became a Town fan in the first place! Bloody proud of our history! As an exile the sound of the seagulls bought back memories too. Well done to all involved. Would love to see a Norwich equivalent! :-) |
| News Comment | Merry Christmas From TWTD at 20:02:40
Thank you Phil and Gav. I've said it before and I'll say it again. TWTD is a vital service to ITFC exiles. Merry Christmas to all associated with ITFC. Here's to promotion and Norwich's form imploding! |
| News Comment | Dozzell Signs New Deal at 05:59:20
I don't understand my feelings about this news.... it's not an emotion I have associated with Ipswich Town for a while. It's not disappointment or rage or boredom. Joking aside a consistently firing Andre can't be a bad thing so good news. |
| News Comment | EFL Confirm September Season Start at 15:43:54
I've quite enjoyed been stress free and not depressed.... still come the morning of 12th September I will be full of confidence about the season ahead! |

Thank you for all your hard work. TWTD is an invaluable site for those of us away from the Suffolk motherland. Merry Christmas to all. |
| News Comment | First Time Fans Initiative Revamped at 19:52:25
Can I apply to have this retrospectively and have a photo with Mark Brennan and Graham Harbey? Joking aside this is EXACTLY the sort of thing we need to be doing! Well done to all involved. |
