Clements: Everything But the Goal
at 17:24:59

Nice headline work there, Phil. Assuming it's a neat pun on Everything But The Girl, I can't help thinking their song 'Missing' would be appropriate for this game. But from what I've seen so far, those goals will come. Roll on Burton...

Where Did It All Go Wrong for Paul Hurst?
at 10:25:59

Excellent analysis. Of the options on offer, I was a Jack Ross man, but he was never going to be content with a club and budget our size, once Sunderland came calling. And Hurst seemed Evans' man all along and did seem to tick all the boxes you've mentioned.

Hurst was probably right when he said the squad was not as good as he'd been led to believe and that probably panicked him into too much too soon.

Our survival indeed rests on a coat hanger and not a strong spine. PL better have a rabbit in his hat.

Ando: The Pressure's on Norwich
at 11:14:11

bergholt blue — QPR are a mess. They gambled on (allegedly) flouting FFP and its come back to bite them. Now they either pay the fine (if their appeal fails) or risk getting banned from the Championship.

We on the other hand have spent peanuts to get a decent crack at promotion — and we still play better football than them.

Derby Back to Second
at 11:45:36

Sure - we lost to Rotherham - but equally we beat title contenders M'bro 2-0, with ease. It's the ebb and flow of a long, unpredictable season.I've been watching us since 1976 and there were always moments like this.

Derby and Bournemouth are where they are because 1) they have good managers who play organised, attacking football that brings them goals. 2) They have the money to buy the strikers to score those goals. But even then they don't win every game - even against the weaker teams.

Where we are is nothing short of miraculous — our entire squad cost £110K (incl 100K for Sears). If you factor in that we got around 5m for Cressy, than our squad in real terms is IN PROFIT by nearly 4.9m!

So I'd much rather be hearing talk of ' will it be auto or playoffs?' than 'can we stay up' or even 'mid-table mediocrity. Whatever happens we've had an amazing season on no money.

McGoldrick Back But Murphy Out
at 16:33:05

I think many of us are puzzled why MM persists in playing Chambo out of position (a position he shouldn't be in — not his fault) when we have an excellent RB in the shape of Parr. Parr can also distribute the ball effectively along the deck, which Chambo can't.

We'd have been in better shape in the last few games with Parr there — he's organised, tidy and can still get forward well. But all managers have their favourites. Unless you're going to play 3 CBs, I think Smith is the better of the two, so he should play alongside Berra, with Chambo on the bench as cover. Doubt it'll happen though.

McCarthy: Leeds' Loss Town's Gain
at 14:28:20

I don't think you can say ' Well he's great for us, why not for his previous club?' Some managers and players click, some don't. Like anyone, I imagine a player needs to feel happy at a club to play well. Can you imagine anyone feeling happy at a chaotic club like Leeds over the past few years?

Town Look to Go Top at Brighton

Still prefer Parr to Chambo in that position - its unfair to expect Chambo to do a job there. Parr's good positionally in defence, can bring it forward and distribute better. No doubt he'll get a run out at some stage though.

McCarthy: Now We're Here We Want to Stay
at 13:47:45

Praise where its due to Redfearn - his analysis of our play is a lot more accurate that that of the Watford manager.

Any improvements needed? Well, we just need to be awake in the first 10 mins of the game - both Bournemouth and Leeds caught us cold at the start — other managers will see that and exploit it. But when it happens we seem to have the strength of character to get back in the game, at least.

Onwards and upwards to top spot, we hope.

Smith, Hyam and Bru Drop Out
at 15:14:59

Well, all managers like to seem 'different' by making perverse choices but two mistakes here:- 1.Chambers should be the one to make way as Smith better in air and more of a goal threat ( and well, just a better player)
2. Hyam offers more than Skuse - just when Hyam is learning how to get forward he drops him for Skyse who never goes anywhere - bad move.
3. Tabb instead of Bru or Henshall? Wrong call again.

It's always mind-numbing 'safety first' with MM isn't it? As long as we don't lose he'll be ready with post-match platitudes. No - we need creativity and attacking mentality.

Taylor and Loach Available for Transfer
at 15:52:09

Hmm... I wonder if we'll see 'the Pulis effect' among our fans next season — namely that Stoke fans, despite a healthy position in the league, ultimately revolted against Pulis' style of play and got him sacked?

My heart sinks when MM says people like Tayls are not his type - in short our most exciting player, full of running, tenacity, effort, creativity and the ability to change a game. By that measure, I'd fear for Wordy's future here too.

Hands up who wants to see all out creative players replaced with journeyman loans next season? Because with these kinds of exits and no transfer chest, you can't help but wonder if that's the masterplan...

McCarthy to Freshen-Up Team at Yeovil
at 12:26:19

Disingenuous comments are a necessary part of the manager's armoury, at any club - he's got a squad of players who all want a regular place and he needs to keep them all happy, by giving them all hope they can achieve that, with the right attitude. Hence his position over the goalkeeping slot

Of course its puzzling to fans that Nouble's had such a run in the side but I don't think MM & TC are ready to admit defeat with Frank yet - especially as they did so with JET, (another young player who showed promise). So they keep working with him, encouraging such a young player, putting faith in him, in the hope he will come good — he may, he may not.

Re. MM's 'travel weary' comments: we're hardly a million miles from London are we?! And if we do get tired travelling to 'far flung' places twice in a week, then equally such teams will get just as tired travelling to us, won't they? So logic says it should even out over the season.

Yeovil will be tough tonight - we not good travellers, whatever the reason - and they are fighting for their lives - which is always a stronger motivation than a 'might reach the playoffs'.

Taylor Rejoins Posh On Loan
at 14:49:18

Tend to agree with those on here that want to keep him rather than loan him out—  best way to restore match fitness would be 10-15 mins each game for the next few games. Always had the feeling MM doesn't really take to him and feels he is not a team player. P'bro fans seem to feel he is a 'selfish' if talented striker - but that could be just what we need.

The bottom line is we miss a hatful of chances every game cos we don't have clinical finishers — and if that's the problem then Nouble as an impact sub is not yet the answer. Rather see Nouble on loan and Taylor in the side. Ebanks -Blake not up to full fitness either, as I understand.

Berra Signs for Town
at 18:35:24

Somewhat concerned at Wolves fans' relief at seeing the back of Berra - "the most uncomfortable player on the ball I have ever seen..." " don 't know how he's mad a living as a professional footballer" etc . Hope MM is not overselling him just got he had no money to spend and saw Berra was free... Instinct says Berra might be ok-ish as back-up but no more. Be interesting to see.

McCarthy Admits Scotland Exit Error
at 12:16:21

Good that Mick's put his hands up on this one - still waiting for Keane to do the same about Rhodes! You don't have to be Einstein (photo pun intended) to see that Scotland could have done a much-needed job in the goals dept f or us this season.

Surprised Mick couldn't see his value as an impact sub - just think what his 5 goals for Barnsley could have meant for us if he's managed to do the same here? A win against P'bro, a point at Barnsley and Bristol and a point at least against Forest etc - we'd be pretty much home and dry - and Barnsley would not be threatening our lifeboat.

That said, Mick of course would be happy to see Barnsley stay up as a lifelong Tykes fan - as would I, given their wonderful fans and common sense approach to footballing matters. But not, however, at the expense of us.

Just a thought: DJ Campbell back at QPR now having left Blackburn by 'mutual consent etc.. Worth going back for him till the end of the season?
