Goodman: I've Been Nothing But Complimentary About Ipswich
at 07:13:24

Hinchcliffe and Goodman are as bad as each other imo. Looking forward to not having to listen to their 90s view of ‘get the ball in the mixer…be more precise…the goalkeeper playing out from the back makes me nervous…’ pointless observations

McKenna: We're Going to Assess One or Two in the Morning
at 16:13:21

WaltonBlueNaze…so (if Woolfy returns) the same outfield 11 as played vs Exeter. Tempting…very tempting. Although also a bit mad! That said this whole shebang is a bit mad!

Also completely agree that the notion that Hladky panics with ball at his feet is nonsense. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a keeper panic less. Some of the fans seem to panic, but Vaz never does!

Three Changes For Town at Coventry as Davis Starts
at 19:35:17

RobsonWark you just want to blame Woolfenden due to your obsession. He was not at fault for any of the goals (I don’t need to touch in the first given your comments, the second one - how was it his fault Luongo let Carvalho run free and Burgess stopped rather than covered the danger area?).

Let’s go win this and party on Saturday.

Carrick: Mixed Feelings

His comments are largely fair…apart from the fact the slowed everything down and wasted as much time as possible throughout the second half. Not really tactics of a team trying to win…

European Clubs 'Monitoring' Hutchinson

I like Omari - he is starting to add some end product to his industry and flair. Scored some hugely important goals.

That said, people saying he is our best ever loan signing have very short memories!!!
Tom Lawrence was the star of the 2016/17 side we had, 9 goals and 9 assists in a very average team. That’s before you start thinking back to Reuser, Magilton, Peralta or Clapham…
You could make arguments for Colback, Fraser and Williams being better loan signings too…and Kieffer Moore and George Hirst may also take issue!!
We’ve done alright in the loan market over the years - albeit with some horrors too (Tony Dinning, Michael Clegg, Paolo Vernazza or Reece Wabara anyone??)

McKenna: Nothing Better Than Getting a Win Against Your Rivals

I’d lean towards Clarke over Williams, but both are good options.

Overarching feeling…it’s been a while…too long in fact.

I really don’t get it. Why are people finding reasons to complain and be negative? Granted I wasn’t around to see us win anything, being an 80s child…I’ve never had it so good. Who gives a sh1t if we concede a few? We are playing amazing football. Should have been 8-1 up at HT.
We are a League 1 team taking the Champo by storm…why can’t everyone actually enjoy that? If you can’t smile and celebrate what is happening right now then you are never going to have any joy from following a football team. I’d suggest getting a grip.

Rotherham United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 08:39:18

Tuanzebe had a decent game given he hasn't played a league match in how long? That said, his decision to float a pass out to Davis for the first goal was madness - that is not how we play at all...we don't float passes behind full backs from distance such that they can only chest it inside and the oppo have loads of time to press the touch (we go aerial when we hit long diagonals, ahead of the FB to run onto). I don't recall any CB playing that pass all season.

Hirst's biggest issue is that refs seem to hate him and give him absolutely no decisions ever! I find the criticism of him pretty harsh, we underperformed and so he got essentially no service at all. Yes the ball bounced off him during the first 20 mins, but from there he had a solid game.

Harness really grew into the game - like the rest of the team he came out the blocks very slowly, but after the half hour he started playing like he has off the bench this season. Moving him central and Chaplin to the left worked well and gave Chaplin more space and influence too.

Taylor has improved loads in the last few weeks - really tidy today, moved the ball well and great burst to get in the position to fluke that goal. Has to be in contention to start on Saturday.

Ipswich Town 3-2 Plymouth Argyle - Match Report

@oldblue - just for completeness. Tuanzebe has 28 PL games (almost half of which are off the bench), and 37 Champ games (almost all starts).
Players with less experience than that have made a big impact for us before (Broadhead had what, 20 champ games for Wigan and 40 league 1 for Sunderland?), but agreed…
On top of that, our defensive record is actually very good…we don’t need a saviour here…

Ipswich Town 3-2 Plymouth Argyle - Match Report
at 14:06:15

Can’t believe some comments moaning about Woolfenden on here. He is far and away our best ball playing CB, and defended well yesterday - there’s a reason why pretty much all Plymouth’s chances came down our left channel. If Tuanzebe comes into the team in a few weeks, it’ll be to join Woolfenden.

Neither goal was anything to do with him - the first one Edmundson positions himself such that Whittaker could cut inside and strike (he doesn’t go as far as showing him inside, but he certainly isn’t showing him the outside either). If you want to be overly harsh on someone other that Edmundson you could say Davis should have covered the inside more, instead of expecting Edmundson to show the line and so take a great position to cut out any cross if that had happened (but Davis had just run back 80 yards having underlapped Broadhead just as we conceded possession). The idea that Woolfenden should have headed that strike away is not realistic for me.

The second goal Davis is knackered and gets skinned, then Taylor just lets his man drift off him to have an unchallenged shot from an easy pull back.
I like Taylor, his lovely inside pass into space for Morsy was the best bit of our third goal. However, Luongo is so much more disciplined and positionally aware. Luongo and Morsy start every league game until Taylor shows he is as able out of possession as he is in.

McKenna: Evans Close to Returning to Training
at 15:44:13

Evans can do things no one else in the squad can - his long range passing was so good first half of the season.
That said, with teams sitting deeper and deeper against us now he will need to show he can slip balls through tight spaces in and around the box to help get us in the top two (and keep Luongo out the team...)

Ashton: Contract Conversations in the Summer
at 14:36:24

Donacien's improvement under McKenna has been unreal. Just a different player to who we saw in previous seasons. Hard to imagine him not staying, given his ability to cover CB and RB.

I have always loved KVY - he got so unlucky with his injury at at time when he was our best player by far. Just hasn't got a look in of any sort since...suspect it will be best for all for him to get a clean slate elsewhere.

Luongo feels like a no brainer for a 2 year contract. He offers physicality, energy and an ability to slip naughty little through balls in and around the area...can't think of a CM we have had with that ability for a long old time...

Ipswich Town 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday - Match Report
at 18:10:05

Appears I attended a different game to Phil…
First half I thought Sheff Weds kept the ball very well, found space between Bonne and Celina and the rest of our team with concerning frequency to get in good areas, fortunately without actually creating chances. We on the other hand bypassed our midfield completely (didn't notice Carroll at all in first half, El Mizouni used the ball well when he won it through breaking up play), and created 1 or 2 chances through counter attack football. We looked like the away team. Sheff Weds we're I control.
Second half was much better. Carroll demanded the ball from CBs from the off, made a big difference. Particular benefit due to the fact neither Edmundson or Coulson appear to have any range of passing at all. Whilst we started to effect control on the game, our chances were largely from Sheff Weds errors (the goal most obviously, but also Bonnes good chance of the second half).

I thought a draw was fair, but we were lucky to get it (why didn't the RB tell the keeper Bonne was there?!).
Concerned that we only create chances from counter attacks and errors.
Concerned that we are susceptible to soft goals and pace.

If we finish higher than 10th I will be delighted and surprised.

Cook: Soft Goals Are Hurting Us
at 00:08:25

Individual errors have hamstrung us for years and years. Reality is that we are a third tier team, that means players WILL MAKE ERRORS. The job of coaching staff is to design a way of playing that reduces the risk that these errors lead to goals conceded. We have had a series of managers who have failed to do that - PC included (to date).

Debsyangel - couldn't agree more re that “chant”. Had a word with some tools outside Curve Bar a fortnight ago for singing it. Can we please face up to those horrible humans who believe it is appropriate to sing that and all other homophobic, racist or sexist songs - change will only happen if we are brave enough to tell them it is wrong.
Here's to a truly inclusive future.

First goal wasn't Woolfendens fault! All game Twine dropped into the space behind Evans and Harper, they didn't shut down the ball into him all game (hence why we belatedly moved to 4141 with Carroll taking on that responsibility).
First goal: ball goes into Twine in space (again), he turns upfield and drives (again), this time it is a three on three as our midfield are COMPLETELY AWOL. Woolfy makes sure he doesn't get past him - absolutely necessary and correct defending. Twine then SIDEFOOTS a free kick from thirty yards and Hladky pushes it into the goal.

Woolfy had a very good game today, won't hear otherwise.
Evans and Hladky did not have good games today.
