Again, where have I said he definitely doesn't want to go to Man U?

All I've said is it's not a given that he jumps ship now. Lots of evidence has been listed as to why right now Man U might not be his best next move. That doesn't mean he won't of course, and nowhere have I said he definitely won't.

I'm responding to you because you're the one who said, "so how can you firmly say you don't think he would go?" ...when I've said nothing of the sort. I pointed this out and asked for your evidence of where I've said this. That you didn't respond very much looks like swerving because you've realised I haven't actually said what you reckoned I've said.

I'm not expecting you to reply to every post in an 11 page thread. You accused me of something I didn't say and I pointed it out. I think it's reasonable to expect a response in those circumstances, rather than just avoiding the fact that you wrongly accused me.

What argument have I made which in order to be valid requires me to know his mind?

And I asked earlier, but you seem to have swerved: "so how can you firmly say you don't think he would go?" - you talk about evidence, where have I said this?

Seems to me you've decided what I'm saying without actually reading what I'm saying. And making ad hominem attacks like talking about me being in "a certain mood" or a silly pic of some blue glasses at Frimmers.

Guthers makes a similar point to me (albeit more eloquently) but doesn't seem to be getting the grief and patronisation for it:

"I suspect that McKenna has tremendous confidence in his own ability (plus background and experience). You don't get to such senior jobs without that. Moreover, he's either lived or seen very close up all the available options.

It's going to be an equation of specific circumstances, prospects and benefits for each path which guides his decision (should offers be made at this point). He's young and time is very much on his side. Comes across as a very cool head. I very much doubt he will be precipitately leaping one way or the other, snatching at any chance for fear they may not come again.

As I say, you're usually a lot better in a debate than this.

I'm playing devil's advocate. Essentially, we don't know what McKenna wants. If people like Herbs were saying it's very likely he'd go there I wouldn't have a problem, simply based on him being a Man U fan and a football manager. But it's not as simple as that and we don't know what factors he might be considering (although we've guessed at a few here).

It's the idea that someone knows what someone else would definitely do, without knowing them, that irks me. And when anyone lists any reasons he might stay they aren't even addressed, just dismissed with a quip or a pic of some specs. Not exactly great debating is it?

You can patronise all you like, we can still see you avoiding addressing any of the points.

I wasn't comparing what I do to what he does - just making the point that it isn't cut and dried that people always jump at the seemingly (to outsiders) better opportunity.

Perfectly reasonable points, but it's easier to dismiss dear old Frimmers with a withering put-down than address them.

I can't see anything majorly wrong with his list.

You didn't answer my question - do you know all his reasons? I certainly don't. I don't know what he's been offered here (not just in financial rewards, but facilities, plans for the future etc.) Or what his young family might want or think is best for them. Does he need to clamour for the first big job offered or does he realise he's young and there's plenty of time for all that? Is Man U too much of a basket case where managers go to die right now?

There's probably loads more we don't even know about. But to just say he'll definitely go and that's that is disrespectful to the bloke. I was offered a job in Dubai that was better money, better lifestyle, all the perks. I didn't want to go and live in Dubai though. As with most things in life, it isn't black and white.

I'm not saying he won't turn it down. I'm saying I don't know, I don't know the guy or what he and his family want.

Some of you, despite not knowing him, are very certain.

"so how can you firmly say you don't think he would go?" - you talk about evidence, where have I said this?

I'm being realistic in that I don't know the guy, so don't know what he wants.

The point about Kompany is he was managing what was a recent prem team back up to the prem, so had far greater resources (and Prem players). Our now Prem team were League 1 players last year. So the chances of us being relegated are necessarily much higher, and why I think McKenna would get a bit more leeway, if common sense were applied.

I don't need to listen to a podcast of people who also don't know what McKenna and his family want from their lives.

It's a very good point... and aligns with my point that nobody actually knows what McKenna wants. Most of the experts on here are projecting what they (and admittedly most other managers) would do. Has anyone actually asked Mr. McKenna wants out of life?

Kompany hasn't just jumped two divisions in a row. You're comparing apples with oranges.

These 'If Man U come calling he goes" posts make me laugh. It's almost like McKenna himself has no say in the matter! The truth is, unless you know him, know what he wants, no-one can possibly say "He'll go."

Whilst it might seem logical, there are a myriad of reasons why he might not go.
