James Scowcroft and Craig Whymark on Life's a Pitch
at 10:56:47

Trevor is my favourite town player ever. When I ran out to play football as a five year old and we picked who we were going to be I was always Trevor Whymark! He was a major reason why in a Lowestoft based family of Budgies (bar my grandad) I became a blue and have been ever since.
So sad to read of his illness and wish Trevor and his family as much happiness as this horrible illness will allow them.

Ipswich Town 2-0 Shrewsbury Town - Match Report
at 10:32:13

If you want to put a smile on your face go to Shrewsbury's website and listen to Cotterill's post match interview. His team has pinched miles above their weight and as I live in Shropshire, I know loads of shrews fans who can't believe the season they're having. He is sooooo miserable and whilst he begrudgingly applauds town he has a thunder cloud over him for the whole thing. He seems like he could find a million pounds and it would be in the wrong notes!

Some really challenging games still to come Derby, Barnsley, Peterborough all away but the way we are going I don't think we should be fearing anyone!

Great result today sadly was working so will pick up on highlights when they social media today.

I do wonder, and here come the negative ticks that with run we are on that postponing Barnsley is the best thing? Yes no burns no Broadhead but with squad we have and the momentum we have I am just praying we now don't pick up injuries in the crucial Easter fixture melee.

However in KMcK and the team we trust. Upps towen!!

Ipswich Town 4-0 Morecambe - Match Report
at 12:06:52

I have never been this optimistic as a Town fan since the Burley days. I appreciate everyone is entitled to their opinion but to quote a manager I was in the end very happy to see the back of (but very grateful when he arrived) 'people need to be careful what they wish for'.
I love watching town now under KMC and was very skeptical when they got rid of Cook for an unknown.
54 points to play for and some great new signings by all accounts (live too far away to get to PR last night). With the exception of Wednesday and Derby who I think need the utmost care and respect (and are certainly beatable) there is not a team left for us to play that I don't think we should be feeling wary of. Yes it's football and things will happen but I for one am loving the ride and think that the future under KMC is very bright.

Shrewsbury Town 0-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 18:54:59

Thought it was men v boys this afternoon. Apart from a volley in the 94th minute and one cross in the first half which he missed, walton could have done the crossword this afternoon. He is, as McKenna said really improving his distribution and gets more of the ball for that.
As daft as it sounds after X clean sheets I still feel that we have work to do at the back. I think against more ruthless teams we could end up being punished as at times we do play ourselves into trouble and to be fair to Shrewsbury, in the second half they did work two or three good moves, especially down our right.
David was better today and JD was as composed as ever. To be fair to burgess he nullified their threat in the air and when woollfy took the ball off Udoh early on that was that contest over!!
Moray and Evans are superb, morsy is not a league 1 player!
Up top great goal from john-jules, chappers was great again, harness worked hard for little reward. As for the replacements, I know he scored but Jackson still does not have my total confidence yet. Aluko set up goal 3 and edwards did nothing wrong.
It was a short trip for me today unlike last week v MK but this is the most I've enjoyed town since burley and I was a big Paul cook fan. I must concede that McKenna is different gravy and long mat this bubble stay unburst. COYB.

Town Sign John-Jules on Loan
at 18:59:10

Delighted about this. I really hope he proves to be more of a sensation than Louie Barry was. I think Mckenna is hedging his bets a little and that he's not 100% confident, by the 'If he can get a good run of form' comment. However, he's clearly seen something and thinks he is worth a punt and that will do me. Other clubs took punts on Ian Rush, Ian Wright, Jamie Vardy etc and they weren't playing in Arsenal's U21s!! Here's hoping....

Town Reveal New Kits
at 15:56:03

Each to their own (and if it gets promoted it will be the best kit ever) however that's £50 -£100 saved as I won't be buying either of them. They are not for me! I shall look out of date in last season's shirt instead. (or my Tie Die Greene King kit from the 90's)

Manager Cook Sacked
at 20:06:11

I'm going to be controversial but I think this is a joke. We have been served dire rubbish over the past few seasons (with slightly better football under lambert) and at times under cook we have played football that I have been excited to travel a 400 mile round trip to watch. Yes this is a poor patch I recognise that but we are not out of the FA cup and we are certainly not out of the promotion push. The play offs are more than realistic. Now we will not be able to give anyone a chance. I know cook has had nearly as many games as Lambert but he has only had half that with his team. Rome wasn't built in a day. My only thought is that despite their words, Cook was not the new owners first choice. If we now head to a dogs of war long ball merchant (warnock etc) I will not care about results, I will not watch. I loved the football under Burley as even defeats never meant we compromised those play proper football principles. I can't believe cook has lost the players already? I also have no idea who will be coming in and cannot suggest anyone I would like who I think will
come.
Thanks PC for at least reigniting my passion for town. Your honesty was refreshing.

I know this will get the - button smashed but it's my view and I'll stand by it.

Cook: Our Fans Were With Us When We Most Needed Them
at 11:58:16

I can only agree with what has been posted. I live 165 miles away from Portman Road and I am now doing everything I can to get to games (sadly not all of them). I haven't felt like this since Burley was at the helm. I want to watch the football we now are playing and these are still early days. Whilst I have attended games under every manager since (bar Hurst) they were not with the excitement I now have had rekindled in me. I always look at the fixtures and think I don't fancy points from that etc but now I actually think others will not look forward to facing us. Yes there will be bumps in the road and today could be one of them but I am buzzing about ITFC at the mo and long may that continue (even if the price of fuel etc says differently!!) COYB!

Cook: There's a Sloppiness That Comes Into the Team
at 07:48:02

Travelled the 400 mile round trip to the match yesterday with some salopians and had a great afternoon of banter in the cobbold.
We look great with the ball, lots of little runs, pulling their players all over. I loved the fact burns penney and donacien all at times ran at people as did edwards when he came on. The 71% possession stat was a fair reflection and as much as people got on town's backs when it went back and sideways I always felt we were trying to probe and that they simply looked a bit blunt because they had so little of it.
What concerned me was the defending. My heart was in my mouth every time they ventured into our half. We look nervous and once they'd equalised (great goal too as was Bonne's) it was jitters central.
We have yet to play Sunderland Portsmouth etc who I am sure will not park a row of 3 and then a row of 5 (and sometimes Shrewsbury put the 2 frontmen back as well) in front of us. Whilst that excites me with the ball I don't think my nerves will take us without it!

All that said 3 points 4wins in six and some upwards momentum is very welcome. Up the town!

Cook: Tonight is Probably the First Time We’ve Looked a Team
at 23:39:51

Great result. Onwards and upwards. So many great performances all over the park.
Cook out….. perhaps he's just earned another match…. Accrington will be a much sterner test but will they be looking forward to playing us?
No doubt someone will be on decrying the win as not enough goals were left footed or they were scored at the wrong end and how could cook be so tactically inept. Or hopefully they'll lie low for a bit, realise we were top at this point under lambert and went on to secure mid table safety!!

Cook: The Reality is We Need a Little Bit of Time to Gel
at 07:48:33

Having watched the match. What I don't get is how when you have Evans, edwards, Fraser, Harper in midfield. All who can play, is that in the second half it was : pass the ball along the back line, regular use of the keeper, keep doing this until they pressured us then lump it down a channel, nearly always by passing these and hoping that piggot and bonne will win the header which they seldom did and then there was no one from the midfield picking up the defensive header or if our two did win it, the knock down. We would not have scores in the second half had we been there now. We never matched Cheltenham in the middle of the park and whilst we were pretty at the back we invited the pressure. Having said that the home fans were silent until they scored. Not a murmur. It was so bizarre. It also looked as if Cheltenham were absolutely prepared to ‘rough us up' a bit, take the booking and then rotate so a different player was on rough up duty We must know that teams are going to scrap and make life uncomfortable. The substitutions also baffled me except Carrol who looked like he wanted the ball but only got 5 mins. Jackson and Barry when we are lumping it forward??? Piggot and Bonne didn't win it so those two have no chance.
I like Paul cook I think he's honest and he will get it right but even three games in it isn't Sunderland Portsmouth and Wycombe we have lost to. It's Burton and Cheltenham. Two fine clubs but neither with close to our history size or fan base.

Burton Albion 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:21:54

Just walking back to the car from the match. We looked very much in control and fast on the counter. Downes and Kenlock were excellent in my view. Burton's most threatening player Akins was in Kenlock's pocket most of the afternoon. Not impressed with the keeper. Punched thin air at the start of the second half and the joke goal he nearly gave away rightly brought a furious reaction from the bench. Norwood was undoubtedly the pantomime villain and will annoy the hell out of non town fans. My only real concern was the players running to lambert en masses when we scored and lambert's protracted bye to the fans at the end. I hope that's not a message!!
Up the town. 3 points in the bag.

Hurst: It Was Always Going to Be Tough Against Leeds
at 06:44:14

It is Paul Jewell all over again. It cannot go on. What Evans must also realise is that he has a choice. He must either roll the dice and get someone proven in and invest heavily or he must accept that he will always own a club that will do well to stay in this division. Yes occasionally a team will have a run without it, Millwall came close last year but they are also being found out this year. We are now lagging further and further behind and FFP is simply not levelling things out. It's not even close. The change in personnel this summer and a host of league one players arriving has also been ridiculous and is clearly now being proved as an experiment that is not working. Mr Evans it's time to bite a very large bullet and make some big decisions. Hurst sadly has to go, you need to stump up and a proven name (of which there are now one or two available) needs putting at the helm. What makes this even more sad is that Mick McCarthy I'm sure is laughing his wotsits off I bet.

Town Confirm McCarthy and Connor to Leave at End of Season
at 14:41:40

Whilst I could not stand his attitude towards the fans actually having an opinion and felt as a result of that, that now is the time for him to go; when you look and see that our whole squad is not worth a third of what wolves paid for Neves (and we bought two £1m players in the summer) I don't think anyone could have done better on the given resources. Yes his football was dire and negative at times but we could easily could have been a 3rd tier club. He kept us in the championship and for that reason I wish him all the very best in his new endeavours (apart from if his new team ever play us!).
Paul cook from Wigan or Tisdale from Exeter for me if we are going for new young blood.

McCarthy: Wonderful Finish By Celina But Result Tough on Burton
at 00:18:45

I have always thought who will we get who
Is better than MM, yes I know it's hard to believe but after seeing him get wolves and Sunderland up (and wolves played half decent stuff too it grieves me to say) I thought MM. could do a job for us and he is always welcomed back by those fans.
However, these comments about the fans and how he does not (in his words) give a flying one about our opinions etc and the contempt he has are outrageous and should be enough for him
To go. Even if he thinks it he should be PROFESSIONAL enough to not say it. People travelled and paid good money to go to a team that with all respect (yes they have a good manager and punch above their weight) should not be holding a candle to us. Yes that's probably delusion on my part, Burton are in our division on merit but for us to happy to go in at 0-0???? At half time. Happy????? The fans deserve better and deserve an apology for those absolutely scandalous remarks. The fans have a RIGHT to Be listened to and their views respected even if in the quiet of his own kind MM does not act on them. Today was my last straw and having been a backer of him it is now time for MM to go and don't worry about switching the light off in your office Mick I'll gladly do it for you!!

McCarthy Hails Magnificent Front Five
at 13:36:33

Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely delighted at the start we've had (more so with the win at Luton than anything else because I hate us throwing cup games to concentrate on coming 15th) and the two strikers we have picked up for a song are brilliant. I am also acutely aware that Celina hasn't played yet and if reports are true he will add a further attacking dimension as well as being a dead ball specialist from all accounts I can find.
But (yes there was one coming) we have looked shaky against Milwall, Barnsley and Birmingham. Yes we've won where last season we would have lost or drawn but excuse me if just for the moment (and yes hit the minus button) I take the Ranieri 'Dilly Ding Dilly Dong' approach and regard this start as us now being just 41 points off safety!
I am over the moon honestly I am but feel that we need to get to the end of our current London run (brentford, qpr, palace and Fulham) in the various competitions as I feel these will be sterner tests, before I start to believe. However, it is 9 points against opposition that should we have any ambition we should beat and hallelujah praise the lord for that. COYB

Cardiff Accept Town Bid for Huws
at 14:53:32

I have stayed away for a while having been so depressed but having watched this guy make such at good impression at the Villa away game last season (he was our stand out player, although McGoldrick did have a good game too to be fair), I genuinely think that the brown stuff has hit the extracting device in ME's office and we now seem to building a competitive squad. I just hope that MM stops the dogs of war stuff and aims for what he did with wolves when they went up. Yes we have be hard to beat, but no we don't have to be hard to watch!!
My excitement level has risen from abject apathy to another look at the fixtures as I may attend a few games now!
