McCarthy: Gerken Starts, Sears a Doubt
at 18:18:21

Just a thought - maybe this is actually amazing man management by Mick and Bart purely isn't up to starting? Losing a father is extremely upsetting and unsettling. I'm sure Bart has been travelling a lot in the last few weeks and is probably mentally and physically drained. As a professional footballer, in the public eye, being thrown back into work may not be possible to the welfare of Bart, or the rest of the side.

Maybe Mick is protecting his team, he's hardly going to come out and say, 'we're stuck with Gerks in goal, Barts lost his head'.

Get behind the team, it's another marked improvement on last year - thus far. I need a few more defeats before I really panic.

Hammond Offered Deal as Town Make Decisions on Youngsters
at 22:47:13

I work with Joe Robisions Aunt, Paula. Seen him fair few times at play ford road and he's got a great future. Spots a pass quickly and is dead composed on and off the ball. Could be a real asset to the club. Shame about sowumni, looked like he could be a player for a while.

Hospital Cup Returns
at 08:14:15

Uppersirbob - I get what you're saying, completely. the point about lining the pockets I disagreed with. Not only the local cup finals, but nobody has considered if we make the playoffs, what kind of state will the pitch be in?

Hospital Cup Returns
at 14:13:23

@big gaz 67 and @Uppersirbob - No, you're not spot on. This game is in aid of the Hospice, not to line the pockets of the club. Its about supporting our youngsters, serving the community, and creating bonds which secure the clubs legacy for future fans and their families. I for one, am proud of the club for re-introducing and re-invigorating this pre-season event.

The TWTD League Calculator 2014/15
at 08:27:02

I only see us slipping up at Watford and forest and possibly dropping two points at borough. very interesting ten days now. if we take 7points from the next three - we'd all be talking automatics again. April is a significantly kinder month. remember, we currently have one of the best records in the league against top teams! Lets get behind the team and believe. As much as I'd love automatics, Playoffs seem most likely. I actually think we're best suited to playoff conditions of the other teams around us. Also, it'd be a shame see us finish 7th or 8th after the start we had - but remember where we've come from - we really are a phoenix from the fire, this season.

Why Staying in the Promotion Race Will Be More Difficult Than Getting There in the First Place
at 09:42:21

Excellently written. I agree with everything you've covered in this piece. I'm just wondering if the lack of signings is more to do with the clubs wage structure, rather than ME unwillingness to give MM the funds needed to 'buy' players. With the likes of Taylor on 10k - maybe there are clauses in certain players contracts which would make the acquisition or new blood more financially challenging.
Also we've seen with the likes of Sharpe that players are reluctant to come in and play second fiddle.
I think we could see a renaissance of earlier form in the next few weeks though. With Watford Vs Brentford and Boro Vs Derby. Bournmouth have a few banana skin games, also. I think 7 points from the next three and we'd be back in the top 2. Any thoughts?

Striker Wood Linked Again
at 16:40:27

I think Micks being pretty shrewd, and we're just looking for suitable additions to add strength in depth. We've seen in the last couple of matches that parr and kings could play in midfield. Anderson and indeed Ambrose seem to be coming good - perhaps Mick is thinking
That didsy will play off a front-two, meaning it's addition strike force and not midfield that needs strengthening. Just an idea...

Town 0-1 Southampton - Match Report
at 23:48:03

Although the performance was abysmal tonight, there were a few positives.

Ambrose is getting fitter, and I think he can be a really useful outlet. Also, I didn't think Bajner was too bad when he came on; he seems to have found a bit more 'battle', and appears to be able to hold the ball up well. An injury to Murps would have far more detriment to the team than an injury or suspension to McGoldrick. If we played the ball into feet, I feel that murph could feed successfully off Bajner - and given correct service, we saw in preseason that Bajner can finish.

We have four extremely winnable fixtures coming up, so reason to still feel very optimistic. Two poor results on the box may help us in our 'under the radar' approach.

Let's all get behind the boys. COYB

Can Town Make the Play-Offs? Give the TWTD League Calculator a Go
at 11:23:54

I think we'l get 69 points, with one draw and a loss against Birmingham in the run in, the point coming against Watford tomorrow. Its a massive ask, but if pick up 6 or 7 points in the next three games, things could really open up for us in the final month. Town have a history of doing well when odds are against us. Look at some of the scalps weve taken this term - think back to Royles reign and we were 9points clear before finishing third. I have a funny feeling that with no pressure on the boys, we could be there or there abouts come the final game.

Town Ban Racist Tweeter
at 03:20:10

Some of the comments on here are laughable, I don't know Phill or any of TWTD's producers personally, but to be providing such a professional website as they do, they are not naive or unintelligent to post a story which could compromise themselves, the club or website. Like Blue lady said, check the law, no laws have been breeched by publishing his name...
The fact that this young lad has been seen making racist comments is probably no reflection on him as a person but more of his upbringing that he thinks it's acceptable to make racist remarks. Afterall racism is merely ignorance. The lad made a mistake, but he'll learn from it hopefully and be a better person. if he loves the club like most on twtd do, then he'l be in the stadia after his ban, and enjoy a pleasant football experience.
It infuriates me however, that reading some of these posts that people who share a mutual love of Town are ripping hypothetical chunks out of each other on here.
whats done is done, everyone has an opinion, im sure many dont agree with what i'm saying now... no point creating a hostile environment on twtd and ruinign what should be an awesome site for sharing the love of our club.

Jewell and Evans Share Vision for Town
at 14:18:49

Some Town Fans are laughable! The stick Jewell is getting from some fans is outrageous. 6games unbeaten, and we're promotion business, Jewell is a good manager, now 4 losses on the spin, and we're in a relegation battle etc and Jewell out!
Most on this site expect the business to happen overnight!! Reality is that nothing good happens every night!! Norwich are taking the piss out of us at the moment, challenging in the premier league. Theyve built a young squad over years, theyve stuck with their manager, and the ended up in 3rd teir of football before becoming where they are. Lets get rid of the boo boys again and get behind the team and manager. Cleeg is a cock, as we all know it, and ticket prices are much too high, but that is all out of our control, and Jewells aswell. Lets try and be upbeat and get behind the team. Jewell will do the buissiness im sure of it. Il put my house on us staying up aswell!!

Jewell\'s Preparations Unaffected By Pompey\'s Lack of Boss
at 13:27:27

Would be nice to see a few goals tonight, not just for confidence and entertainment value; we're currently the only team in the TOP 16, with a negative goal difference. C'mon the town, i'm going for a 4nil win and Bullard to get on the score sheet, about time he gets one in his second spell!

Jewell: Disappointed But Not Too Downcast
at 11:53:56

I think everyones being a little too negative, I personally went to see Cambs utd away yesterday as a fam member of mine was in the away squad, the stands were pretty full, and r.e the comments about atmosphere and low attendances, i would guess that it is much more down to the overpricing than the football being boring. Yes we need to be more positive at home, and one up front is a shocking system, bring back the Royle days where we were always a big threat going forward and played flowing football, we won games by outscoring the opposition, and with Jet playing alongside Chops and another decent holding midfielder (Kennedy did an awesome job against arsenal - no pace, but a great vision) we will ultimately improve and get results. But the negativity around the ground needs to stop, especially after 2 league games, northampton cannot be excused, nothing but a lacck of professionalism against a nothing side, but league games are completely different, 8 new faces in this team. If you look at the prediction chart at start of the year majority of fans said wed make the playoffs or be there or there abouts, i cant believe for a minute all of you on here having a moan of groan made up the small percentage of people who said we'd struggle. While we have seen nothing to suggest so far that we will win promotion, its not like weve seen anythign to suggest we havent got a good bases for a team and are making progress. I personally think we'l finish around 8-10th place, which even that is a stark improvement, lets be positive and get behind the team!
