| News Comment | Downes Given Time Off to Clear His Head Following Palace Interest at 15:30:40
I actually think Lambert and Evans have handled this well. They're putting out a clear message that he's not leaving unless we get a ridiculous offer - and that's how it should be. Too often we seem to be on the bad end of the deal, hopefully not this time. |
| News Comment | Young Quintet Left Out of Photo Call at 11:17:42
This is not good. Our squad is too big and needs trimming. However, our young players have shown they are as good, if not better, than their senior colleagues. The problem is, no one wants to sign our senior players. No one wants to loan them on the wages they're on. The only way we can trim the squad is by loaning out our young talents. However I think this is going to come back to haunt us... Dobra, El Mizouni, Drinan and Ndaba have shown they deserve to be involved in the first team this season. |
| News Comment | Lambert: Lads Gave Me Everything at 21:14:33
So Luke Woolfenden and Andre Dozzell are kids because they're playing but Flynn Downes is the best player in the division because he's not. They're the same age Paul. Why does he always use age as an excuse? It's getting so boring now. |
| News Comment | Lambert: Everybody at the Club is Suffering at 03:11:03
Losing isn't the worst part, the worst part is Lambert not understanding why we are losing. "We played well, we were unlucky" is recycled in so many interviews. He just comes across as defeated and hoping that playing the same way will generate a win next week. Its not inspiring. Also, why are we still sticking with this formation? At the start of the season we played 442 a lot. I understand we're short on strikers right now but we could even try a 433 with Garbutt and Dobra on the wings. |
| News Comment | Lambert: That Was a Sore One at 19:23:00
The most worrying thing is this will be our best squad for a long time. We've wasted a great opportunity this season. It's only going to become a harder task from here, similar to our spell in the championship. Our best option is to start playing the next generation of youth prospects to get them ready for next season because we're going to need them. |
| News Comment | Lambert: Whoever You Are You've Got to Earn the Right at 14:58:53
So it's okay to use the wage bill as an excuse when we're struggling in the Championship? But now he's suggesting it shouldn't have an impact when pur wage bill will be at the top end of League 1?! Paul, take a look at some of the stuff coming out of your mouth - it's not giving the fans any confidence. Also, you can use Leeds/Sunderland to suit you all you like, but how about the more recent example of Rotherham who are showing how powderpuff this league really is! |
| News Comment | Lambert: We Dominated the Game But We've Got to Be More Ruthless at 23:54:20
The draw stops the rot from the three defeats so that's alright on that side" I'm sorry Lambert but Ipswich Town should not be happy with a point against a team heading to League Two. Every interview he comes out and says the same things ("We played well", "We're unlucky", "We dominated") - take some ownership and admit that YOUR tactics are not good enough. You can't keep coming out saying the same things and expect the results to change - YOU have to make the change. That is the difference between a classy manager like Bielsa who admitted last week it his him that needs to work to change Leeds form. We have the players capable of doing well in this league. Most of them individually are capable of walking into most League 1 sides. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. It's down to the manager to get them gelling as a team like Wilder has at Sheff Utd (with a majority of championship quality players!! Start being honest with yourself about where the problem is and then maybe our form will change. |
| News Comment | Lambert: We Targeted Wickham at 23:40:08
Just what our strikers needed to hear to fill them with the confidence they are missing... |
| News Comment | Harrison's Pompey Move Confirmed at 18:20:24
Ultimately with Norwood incoming, we needed to offload a striker. I imagine Harrison is the only striker another club is willing to pay for. We've got Norwood, Sears, Jackson. If we only play one through the middle then that's enough. We need to remember we have Drinan, Morris, and Folami that all need to be knocking on the door this year if they want a career at Ipswich. We've also got Brown who looks like he could make an impression come the end of the year. We need to pave a route for these guys to break through. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: I Hope Fans That Hounded Me Out Enjoy the Sexy Football in League One at 23:44:11
I'm sorry but this really winds me up. McGoldrick: contract ran down Celina: Return loan player Garner: Wants to move back home Waghorn: Wants to play for a better team Sears: Injured half the season A lot of people say, "careful what you wish for", McCarthy would never have kept this squad up. He ran us into the hround. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Hull City - Match Report at 18:09:07
It does start to make me a bit nervous about next season when statistically we dominate teams and yet we don't look like winning. What's going to be different next season? We need to be able to finish the job while we're on top. We're not going to get a transfer war chest and we're really lacking a "winners" mentaillity. Hopefully, the u23s can instil that mentality into the more senior players. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Has Sympathy With Town Players Facing Relegation Pay Cut at 14:57:04
“It summed it up for me when Joe Garner got the equaliser against Wigan and I texted him to say, ‘Well done, bet that pleased you today' What's McCarthy even trying to suggest here? Garner had his most prolific season in the Championship here and he wasn't forced out. He wanted to leave to move closer to his family. Fairplay to Garner for not fueling McCarthy's anti-Ipswich agenda. McCarthy still hasn't managed a game of football since he left us. He should be focusing on not sending ROI into decline rather than us. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Keane Out for Six Weeks at 20:13:26
The extent of the injury isn't public knowledge and McCarthy is showing a real lack of class revealing this prior to the game against Reading. If Keane's next game was an Ireland game, then fair enough, but that's not the case. Hopefully Lambert put's a positive spin on this and uses this to fire the players up because our ex-manager clearly wants us to go down. |
| News Comment | Lambert: We Were Fantastic at 23:13:05
No skuse, no Chambers, four academy products. Is this result a Coincidence? I think not. |
| News Comment | McLoughlin Set to Join Wimbledon at 00:00:19
This guy has been an ever present in a successful u23 side. Can't help but think we'll loan a 19/20yo from a Championship club next season when we could have been giving one of our own a chance. |
| News Comment | Chambers: Players Must Take Responsibility at 18:00:59
Can't fault his passion. But passion alone isn't good enough. We as fans are passionate, it doesn't mean we're good enough to play for Ipswich. Too many times he aimlessly boots the ball to the other team for them to start their attack. The hardest decision our new manager has to make is to be brave and put Chambers on the bench until he shows he is capable of retaining the football. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Middlesbrough - Match Report at 22:25:17
How can it be that a Freddie Sears without any match fitness can come out of that game as one of our better players? Why do we have to wait until the second half before we start imposing ourselves on the opposition? Knudsen/Chambers/Gerken our most senior players yet they find it difficult finding a blue shirt. How many times did Gerken kick out for a throw-in? There's no room in our team for passengers and I think Dozzell and Chalobah put Nolan and Skuse to shame. I would love to see a stat showing how many times Chalobah got on the ball compared to Skuse. If Paul Hurst loses his job and he feels he's tried his best he can't have any regrets. But he's got a quality youth team at his disposal and he's not touching them. Do the right thing and give Dozell, Downes, Kenlock and Lankester a chance. |
| News Comment | U23s Beat Coventry to Stay Top at 21:03:39
Can't help but think the first team could learn a thing or two by watching these youngsters. Some of their one and two touch football and clinical finishing is pure class. Thank god the academy are providing us with some optimism for the future! |
