This is likely not what a lot fans want to hear I find it interesting that you think Ashton has done a “great” job…. Yes, he speaks very well and has galvanised a disillusioned fan base starved of any success or excitement in 20+ years, with the help of a lot of financial backing! He’s also brought in McKenna, which potentially could be a masterstroke, as he’s clearly a very talented coach and potentially a premier league manager (hopefully with us) in future. However, from a transfer fee perspective I’d suggest the sale of Downes for an estimated £1.5m was misjudged and the fee paid for Burgess in particular was too high for the calibre of player. But the main thing is the giant wage bill (estimated £9.7m per year + £1m agent fees). Celina was on more than £20k per week, which is madness, with Pigott also collecting £8k per week. Morsy was a coup, but he’s still on £10kpw so Ashton has only managed to bring these players in by paying them Championship level wages, stretching our wage limit to its fullest capacity. Compare this to Wigan’s estimated wage bill of £6.2m per year, I’d suggest their executive team are doing a great job. I’m praying under his tenure he does succeed and we do become successful and a well run football club, but I think to say he is doing a great job on current results is misinformed, |

You would be happy to appoint a manager who has yet to experience a promotion after four seasons in league 2? I urge you to dream bigger my friend! We have the largest budget in League 1, coupled with American owners financed through a pension fund. Time is of the essence and mediocrity will not be tolerated, hence Cook’s dismissal. Not bad squad depth for the right hand side! I really hope Dobra gets a loan move if his game time is limited as the kid has so much potential but just needs to improve his decision making which he will get with first team games. |

Whoops yes - left and right mixed up! Dobra’s movement far more fluid than Fraser when operating out wide. |

He can “do a job out there”, sure, but he was the best #10 in the league last year by a distance. It’s similar to playing Bruno Fernandes out on the left and Dan James (Barry) in the hole. Here’s hoping this changes with Edwards doing damage on the left, Dobra causing chaos down the right and Fraser linking the midfield to the striker (Pigott - who can’t get a touch of the ball currently) tonight. I can see your point, however, the opening game Chaplin arguably is more natural out wide than Fraser on either side (played majority of his Barnsley career wide left) and Barry does his best work cutting in from the left. Would love to hear Cook’s rationale why he’s doing this tactically. |

Both Chaplin and Barry struggled to get on the ball playing in the #10 behind the striker, yet Fraser, who is a natural 8 or 10 and who completed the most passes in the final third in England last year, has started both games out wide. Why is Cook doing this? We have a stack of naturally wide players and surely Fraser was bought to play as a #10? |
