Sears wasn't having a great game, he was willing to run but Brentford had him well covered and he wasn't going anywhere. I can see why Mick made the sub. It's also funny how everyone was calling for us to sign Wood but when he came on for Sears it was apparently a disgrace...
We outplayed a good Brentford side. If Murphy hadn't have skied that open goal we'd all be praising what a good performance it was. But no, you've gotta have a scapegoat and apparently Sears being taken off was exactly that.

If you'te one of those complaining about spending your money to go see it, what on earth were you expecting? We all knew that the team would be completely different and full of youth/reserve players so you can't really be surprised about the result can you?
Also, nice to see Nouble being used as the usual scapegoat, even when messiahs Taylor and Marriott having an equally/worse game yet get no mention whatsoever.
It's just a cup game which has no benefits of progressing at all, it's a bit of a joke these days... Glad we're out early tbh. |

I also can't seem to understand the assumption that boring and dull football is the only thing that Mick knows. The teams he built at Sunderland and Wolves when he got them promoted proves the opposite, that he can build teams that are capable of being a big attacking threat, especially at Wolves. So why is it a common belief that this is all Mick can do? |

I don't know how many times I need to say this, but a player gets his chance to impress every day through training, if he's not impressing there why the hell should he be in the team? That's been Taylor's problem rather than Mick not liking his style of play, does it not occur to anyone that he might be a massive d*ck that doesn't do enough to prove his worth? Everyone on here spent last season crying out for more attacking options in midfield, which we've now done by signing Henshall, Stewart and now Bru which should definitely give us more bite going forward.
Last season proved that we could spend no money and still compete, we were right up near the playoffs all season with limited attacking options. I believe we are a lot stronger this season, again without spending money. Spending money won't get instant success, as we've seen with clubs like Leicester who have spent millions for the last few seasons and only just managed to get promoted, along with various other clubs in the league who have done so and still sit mid table. We spent millions and nearly got relegated.
We can't afford to spend millions, even £1m or £2m isn't always enough for a good player who's proven in the Championship anyway and as far as Mick is concerned, I fully trust him to make the right signings to move us forward and feel confident that he has done so this pre season. |

Players have the chance to impress every day through training. If they're not playing in the team then they're not doing enough to convince the manager that they should be in the team. People see a player for 10 minutes and think they know everything about the player, more so than the manager who sees them every bloody day. Hardly a disgusting decision. |
