| News Comment | Town Targeting Wimbledon Striker Al-Hamadi at 15:41:32
Some people on here either haven’t been listening or don’t understand the FFP restrictions that we are under (and the subsequent points deductions for failing to meet them). Stepping up from league 2 to the championship is a huge task that not many can do but the reality is we can’t afford to get anyone who is available at our current level and stay within FFP. If we spend £5m on a striker now we realistically still won’t be shopping in the same market as Leicester Leeds and Southampton. Anyone calling for a striker with premier league experience is living in a dreamworld. |
| News Comment | Chelsea Youngster Hutchinson On Town's List at 22:38:02
Have no issue with this as I don’t think harness or Jackson are of the quality we need to challenge at the top end of the championship. If he can play across the 3 behind hirst then it provides competition for Chaplin and burns. Having said that, I’d prefer rak sakyi as he’s had more experience of first team football. |
| News Comment | Ladapo: Since Coming Here I've Been Getting Happier All the Time at 08:44:13
Gets a lot of unfair stick. Don't think he was ever brought in to be the main man but has one of the best goals per minute ratio's in league 1. He's also probably looked the best number 9 in mckenna's system since he came in (in which a lot of supposedly good strikers have looked very average). |
| News Comment | Former Loanee Luongo Training With Town at 16:41:16
Can't understand why people would think this is a bad idea. A free transfer and a short term deal to cover injuries to ball, camara and (likely at some point) evans. He's also proven at this level. |
| News Comment | More Than 22,000 Seats Sold For MK Dons Game at 08:42:01
Agree with comments that we shouldn't be blaming ladapo. I also don't think bringing in hirst will magically solve the problem. The system we play hardly suits strikers at this level. We've had bonne, Norwood, pigott and now ladapo (although early days) who have all been prolific at this level (or league 2 in norwood's case) at one point or another, but who seem to not be able to do it in our system. I read somewhere that we had a lower xG than forest green and Bolton despite dominating both games. The issue is the lack of clear cut chances, not the strikers themselves. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Dom's a Great Addition to the Squad at 08:51:23
We were noticeably smaller and less aggressive than a lot of teams last year and got bullied. Definitely good to have somebody like him either alongside morsy for those particular games or as a much needed replacement for morsy if he is ever out. It's also a very good sign than every qpr fan who has commented on here or the Instagram post seems sad to see him go |
| News Comment | Cambridge United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Highlights at 14:55:27
We concede so many late goals from set pieces or long balls into the box (Cambridge, Wimbledon, Cheltenham etc). We shouldn't have to but surely the sensible thing to do would be to bring someone like Toto on for Penney in the last 5 to help deal with balls into the box as obviously the problem isn't going away. |
| News Comment | Crooks Close to Boro Move - Report at 15:24:26
Think we all saw this coming when Fraser was signed. Fear a similar thing may happen with Celina but fingers crossed we get him as he would be the marquee signing I think we need out wide |
| News Comment | Warne: No New Town Bid For Crooks at 14:03:28
He doesn't seem to understand why anyone would want to leave a club that's highest ambition is to stay in the championship for more than a year… |
| News Comment | Town Target Celina Return at 23:52:34
Struggling to see how anyone could question whether he'd be good enough. He was our best player in a mid table championship team. However, I also struggle to see how we could pull it off |
| News Comment | Town Accounts Show Evans Waived or Settled £96m in Loans at 10:46:08
Tricky to assess this really. On one hand you have to respect the continued investment to keep us afloat but ultimately Evans' poor decision making led to reduced revenues and his desperation to sell at a huge loss. All EFL clubs seem to lose money so we can't get ahead of ourselves and expect the current investment to be sustainable in the long term but hopefully we can take the opportunity to correct the infrastructure and culture of the club. |
| News Comment | Town Crooks Bid Well Short of Rotherham Valuation at 21:58:58
Having new owners and cleared debt after covid is definitely working in our favour. Players like Harper and crooks (even with a year left on his contract) would have cost at least 2/3 times the fees reported here. Seems like the perfect time for new owners to come in and continue the spending while other clubs cannot afford to say no. |
| News Comment | Drinan Set For Orient at 10:16:21
Seems like a good guy. Good work rate and effort but not sure the quality was ever there |
| News Comment | QPR Leading Chase For Dozzell at 22:44:02
I find it hard to believe that the England youth set up, premier league and championship clubs are all wrong about his potential. Agree that he can be a bit lightweight but has obvious technical ability and would hate to add him to the growing list of players we let go for £3m that are worth £20m in 3 years |
| News Comment | Options Taken on Bishop, Nsiala, Drinan and El Mizouni at 08:17:00
Lot of strange comments on here. Bishop staying is obviously out of PC's hands given how the option for him to stay is clearly based on appearances. Jackson had championship interest last year so why would we release him for free when we could get some money. I'd have kept Wilson over nsiala but if we get rid of both are we really going to get 3 new cb's in that can play together straight away? I agree that drinan is useless but he'll be on next to no money and again means that we don't have to sign about 15 players in one window like we did under hurst (how did that go?) |
| News Comment | Owner Evans on Cook, Lambert and Takeover Talk at 08:00:59
Am surprised but have to agree with some of the comments on here. We've been in decline for years under ME. However, the club loses millions every year and evans has consistently shown he will at the very least keep us afloat. The proposed investor is a US based (pension fund) consortium who also own a tiny football team in America. Apprehensive to say the least. |
| News Comment | Accrington Stanley 1-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:58:36
good performance all round. Accrington played route one football with a big team. Nsiala and Wilson dealt with everything easily. Can't help but think if bishop wasn't made of glass he'd be playing at a much higher level as he looks far too good for league 1 when he is fit. Parrott was impressive throughout and Norwood a handful. Good to have some positivity back for a change |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Sunderland - Match Report at 23:03:36
Jackson's tackle was idiotic. Biggest concern is that the club very much seems to be going in one direction. I'm sure the likes of downes, dozzell etc won't be hanging around for very long when we finish in mid table again and I find it hard to believe evans will reinvest the cash given his track record and the pandemic. |
