Tom Adeyemi Mark II.

Shame, he made such a difference when in the team.

McCarthy: I'll Finish My Contract and See What Happens
at 15:23:55

Well that's really helpful if your a player isn't it, players need stability.

With so many in the last year of their contract how is this going to help matters going forward?

Evans, how the hell you've made millions I'll never know, your management of this club has been a joke.

Taylor and Loach Available for Transfer
at 15:16:25

Happy that Merlin is straight talking as usual and making these decisions early, just disappointed that our team can't accommodate a player like Taylor who has the ability to create something and change a game. I'm not keen on seeing Tabb or Hunt in a blue shirt again next season, both are past their best and we need more pace on the wide than these two can provide.

Looks like Mr Evans isn't going to be splashing the cash anytime soon either.

McCarthy: O'Neill Will Get the Ireland Job
at 16:45:36

We need to chant Mick's name the whole way through the game tomorrow to let him know how much we want him to stay at PR. It would be an absolute disaster if he left IMHO.

Town Topic: Who Next for Town?
at 14:15:12

Michael Appleton would be a tilt at a young manager, what he has had to put up with at Pompey and still come out with some credit takes special qualities. But I fear that Mr Evans will want a name to continue the theme of using the managers status to promote the ME brand.

Do we really want someone like Mick McCarthy and his brand of football?

Whichever way, lets take our time and see who applies, we might be pleasantly surprised.

Jewell: We're Not Tough Enough
at 09:41:43

Enough's enough, 18 months on and we are no further forward than when Keane was in charge. In fact I'd go so far as to say that I would doubt that a Keane team would have been beaten 6-0 and 7-1. Don't get me wrong, when Keane was sacked it was a late birthday present for me and I was pleased with the appointment of Jewell in the beginning, he's a likeable character who said all the right things but now it has become all too familiar of his stint at Derby. 7 out of the starting 11 are his signings, players who he and his staff coach every day yet we hear that there is no toughness in the side, no fight, who is to blame then? Imagine if you were one of his signings playing last night and heard your manager say that? Does a lot for morale and togetherness doesn't it!

The Posh bids smack of desperation to me and I'd be surprised if they thought a move to ITFC will progress their footballing careers. If after 18 months things are no better why are some on here still of the opinion that the next 18 months will be any different? I'm all for supporting our club but let's not be delusional, we all want the best for our club but I can't see we will ever get promoted with this manager and his backroom staff.

Clegg has to take his share of responsibility too, the saga over Charlie Austin, Stephen Davies, Joel Ward and Jason Pearce etc etc. is a complete joke, if you really want a player, do your homework and get him, don't mess players and clubs around otherwise we will get a bad reputation.

That's it, rant over. COYB

Jewell Hails Second Half Comeback
at 09:27:34

Well a much welcome result, but I fear that it papers over the cracks. I'm a fan of PJ and am not calling for his head but the match should have been over at half time but for some luck on our side. I'd love to know what happens on the training pitch every day for our defensive unit to be in complete disarray as was the case first half.

A keeper that has no long term future at the club, our best two centre halves the wrong side of 30, no dedicated RB or any cover if Edwards gets injured and midfield that blows hot and cold too often.

What exactly is the 'masterplan' that ME and PJ has, I'd love to know because I can't work it out. I cannot recall a club that was promoted with so many loanees so why should we be any different?

I thought Scotland was absolutely amazing last night which says alot when we tried to offload him to Swansea recently.

The sooner we get rid of the mediocre players like Martin, sign some players rather than loan them and get players playing in their correct positions the better.
Really enjoyed the result last night but let's not kid ourselves, we as a club are in a mess and need some direction.

Jewell Struggling for Ways to Explain Defending
at 10:23:57

I was going to put an interesting and thoughtful post on the board but then 'Smithy' beat me to it. Sometimes I wonder if managers are too close to the situation to see the blatantly obvious.

The captain needs to be a leader by example, who motivates his team-mates, I'm not sure GL is the right man, especially if he's played out of position.

No player should be played out of position unless a squad is injury stricken, it never works on a consistent basis.

Eight new players need time to gel - I don't think the result against Bristol City actually did us any favours, it led to false expectations.

The comments from PJ regarding the defensive issues mirror that from the Keane days so we know its a personnel problem. Do we have a good enough defensive coach? I wonder?

PJ is definitely the right man for the job but he can't keep making the same tactical and managerial mistakes over and over again, otherwise the fans support and patience will wear very thin quickly.

Look towards to lower leagues and get some hunger and confidence back into the team.

Keane Disappointed With Defeat
at 19:24:27

If I understand it right, Roy's contract is up next April, Mr Evans needs to be making plans for a replacement. I can't believe anyone can say that the club is any further forward since the arrival of Roy. What makes the situation even more frustrating is seeing other clubs bring in managers with little or no money to spend yet compete for play-off places. Some personalities and clubs don't mix and I'm sure Roy will be successful in the future but not at PR. Just over 35% win rate at Ipswich is never going to get us promoted.

Goal wins matches, it's not rocket science.

Edwards: Players Backing Keane
at 09:36:31

Oh dear, if players and the CE are coming out with votes of confidence for Roy then it sounds to me that if he doesn't win at least one of the next two games then he will get the push. Be surprised if he wasn't given until at least Christmas though.
