Part One: The Descent Into The Marcus Evans Eras
at 12:56:16

An excellent blog SantyBlue, it really sums up the Evans era. I doubt we will ever discover the truth as to why the board opted to sell to Evans? Like everybody, I have heard the rhetoric that a better option was in the frame? I have no doubt that Evan acquired the club with the intention of getting into the premiership and making a fast buck. However not only did he have no knowledge of football or how to manage a club, he had no friends in the game. He was looked on with suspicion and was viewed as a ticket tout and thus received no favours. His choice of CEO and managers were ultimately disastrous, I wonder just who was advising him? In fairness to him he stuck with it probably because his family became fans? He bailed the club out and stopped them from going out of business. Can you really blame him for failing to invest in players after the extravagance of his first two managers, why chuck more good money after bad! It was no doubt the worst time in the clubs history, but nothing is for ever so let’s enjoy the current high and hope it continues!

Ipswich Town 1-1 Middlesbrough - Match Report
at 19:41:30

I really cannot believe some of the posts on here! Do some people think that teams are coming here and we are just going to roll them over or think that we should automatically win? Wednesday and today we were faced with two very good and disciplined sides who were determined to get something out of the game. Our players left nothing on the pitch and could not have given anymore.
They are obviously fatigued after a long season playing at a much higher and intense level. To be top of the league with 3 games to go is absolutely amazing! Those who criticise, please go back to your screens and fantasy football!!!!

An outstanding performance, great goals from quick exciting football. Not really fair to name a man of the match, Hutchinson will get all the plaudits, he had a great game, but for me Luongo was outstanding, he covered every blade of grass!

Why do some people need to criticise or abuse ex players? Ok Freddie wasn’t a Mariner, Brazil, Bent or even a McGoldrick but he always gave 100%. If you remember after a reasonably productive first season, McCarthy turned him into a defensive wide left player, not his natural game. Good luck Freddie as you drop down the ladder!

Ipswich Town 1-2 Maidstone United - Match Report
at 17:41:36

Valuable lessons today primarily for the fans:-
We have no right to win every game no matter how inferior the opposition.
We totally dominated, 38+ attempts on goal, 1 executed. Them, 2 attempts, 2 executed
No lack of effort, but no real confidence after 15 minutes when we could a have been 4 up
Broadhead is not a striker, I hope the Jackson haters will take a long hard look at themselves
This is the first real setback for McKenna since he has been in management. Hopefully he will come through it stronger.
Let the squad now show character, put it behind them and secure promotion to the promised land!

Ipswich Town 2-2 Norwich City - Match Report
at 16:27:10

A tough game against rugged opponents who worked their b*lls off! Difficult to play the game and not the occasion. Despite that we were clearly the better team and should have won it in the first half. 2 bad misses by Broadhead and Burns. Sometimes you do not get the rub as the two misses and their goals demonstrate. That’s football. Burgess quietly outstanding just shaded for mom by Harry Clarke whose passion shone through. A long way to go, no easy games, but we have the talent to be there or thereabouts come May.

Two superb goals was really the difference, the second goal came just at the time Coventry were getting on top. A brilliant save from our keeper and a missed penalty has to be taken into consideration. Having said that, a million times better than we had sadly endured pre McKenna!

Stevenage 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report

To all you ‘remoaners’ you must actually want us to fail? I remember preseason 1972/3. We lost every pre-season friendly. All was doom and gloom. I was at the first game of the season, Man U at Old Trafford. Beattie made his debut, won 2 1, totally dominated them, finished 4th that season, the start of the glory years.
Let’s get behind the team and keep an open mind!

Woolfenden: We Do Our Talking On the Pitch
at 11:55:36

I watched Bristol Rover train at Felixstowe for their night game earlier in season. Joey Barton set up a training game to counter our threat and catch us on the break. He told their forwards that our young centre half was not as good as people said and should be pressurised. Didn't quite work out that way!

Another brilliant performance, what is so frustrating is that my best mate lives in Plymouth and lives and breathes them, he just messaged me to tell that 4 of their last 7 games are at home, I so want to rub his nose in it!!!

Barton: McKenna a Man Under Pressure
at 10:37:32

Bristol Rovers trained at Delwood Avenue the home of Felixstowe and Walton United the morning of the game at Portman Road earlier in the season. He was very respectful and complimentary to his hosts, and after the training session he made sure his players and staff cleaned up and left no mess behind. Don't believe everything about him you read in the press.

Another New Manager, Another New Gamble
at 16:58:41

Spot on monty_radio! I think Sir Bobby was third choice? three other so called top managers turned us down and rode the train to obscurity! Lucky for us Robson was out of work and desperate to get back into management.
Frank Brogan was signed I think by Jackie Milburn, he didnt immediately pull up any trees but flourished under Bill McGarry. I well remember that horrendous tackle by that thug Gilzean that really finished his career. McGarry never got the recognition he deserved, he made Jefferson, Hegan, Morris as well as Brogan better players. He developed Viljeon and built a team from scratch to become a decent top tier team.
Oh the memories!

Town Appoint Director of Football Operations
at 14:41:50

I hate to be cynical but we have more background staff than the government has civil servants and more coaches than National Express. I know the game has changed but Bobby Robson seemed to manage it with 3 assistants, 1 working alongside him, 1 with the reserves and 1 with the youth team. We produced much higher quality players then!

O'Neill: No Offer on Table For Town
at 16:32:16

There is a deal in negotiation at the moment for sure! Evans would not have just sacked Lambert, too much of a coincidence, particularly as we have won the last two games.
O'Neal is reading from a prepared script.

Banished Duo Angered By Manager's Comments

We don't really know what is going on, but for the facts that are known, I think Lambert is being at least petty. Jackson had a rush of blood but isn't Lambert cutting his nose to spite his face?
As for Nolan, why take him on a overnight 500 mile round trip if you have no intention of using him?

Agree on that point Nthsuffolkblue, but my point is that I believe and really worry that Evans will cut his losses and walk away. What happens then? worst case scenario the club folds! Very worrying times!
