| News Comment | EFL Matches Postponed as Mark of Respect at 13:21:36
People need to remember that this was not the decision of the Royal Household, but the wonderful FA, who seem to have single-handedly generated a wave of negative feeling towards the monarchy. Well done them. Another stupendous decision chalked up. Don't forget to stay in and mourn, y'all... no sneaking off to the rugby, cricket, pub, shopping or other disrespectful pastimes. PS: people are entitled to feel upset about not going to the football, as are those upset at the Queen's passing. Many fit into both camps. You can't tell people off for being upset. |
| News Comment | Gillingham to Assess Whether Boxing Day Game Can Go Ahead at 10:05:55
If they're severely depleted, then I'm sure they can contrive to get the game off. However, I can't help thinking that it's still a good time to play us - as much as we want them to, I suspect that things on the pitch are not going to change overnight, and we'll still have those off days, or vulnerable periods in a game. That said, maybe we'll actually get some new manager bounce, for once? |
| News Comment | Town Survey Fans on Tannoy at 16:25:25
Town Survey Fans on Tannoy 9th Aug 2021 15:07Town have asked for fans’ feedback on the Tannoy system at Portman Road with chairman Mike O’Leary having admitted that the club is going to have to almost start again with the PA system. 25 "Careful Phil, or some pedant will point out that Tannoy is a brand name..." Good point xrayspecs. You'd think the moderators would hoover up any such mistakes. |
| News Comment | Town Offer Fans Vote on Matchday Music at 10:12:20
Whatever it is, the PA system at PR will make it feel like knives in your ears. There are some real unimaginative, middle-of-the-road, over-used choices there. I wonder who drew up the short list. (oh, but not Kanye West please, not Kanye West) |
| News Comment | Norwood Sidelined By Hamstring Injury at 11:52:43
I personally think it's great that the guy isn't just another faceless clone that's had the character bleached out of him by the PR machine. Right or wrong in his opinions, at least he has a profile. Bloody bad luck for both him and the club with his injuries. Hopefully his recovery will be quicker than the estimate, as is often the case. |
| News Comment | Town Announce Season Ticket Refund Options at 12:39:44
Good options, and plenty of them. But please do not discredit fans belief in the club if they wish to get their money back (I'm not saying that is what I will do, btw) - many fans will find themselves in far more dire financial straights than when they signed up for a season ticket, due to losing their job, or being furloughed etc. Sweeping statements only make people feel guilty about doing what could be the right thing for them and their family. |

FFS. Not good at all if you're traveling any distance... especially if it involves the A14 north of Cambridge. |
| News Comment | Town Topic: Memories of The Beat at 18:35:21
What a legend. My friend & I met The Beat on the train to Leeds, when we were both in the Prem (we won!). Sat in the seats in front of him, his phone went, an old school ring tone, theme to Dambusters which was answered with "Kevin Beattie'?". My mate and I looked at each other then looked through the seats to see KB traveling alone. We had a chat about him starting out on his punditry career. Could have been his first game in fact. He shared his Carling with us and suggested we shared a taxi to the ground! We saw him on the train back, eagerly chatting to fans about Town - obviously knackered but had time for everyone. What an absolute shame - he never seemed to get a break in life but always seemed as happy as anyone. He'll be missed. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Fans Waited to Throw Bottles at Me at Brentford at 09:41:57
It's disgraceful if true, but how would they possibly know they were "going to throw bottles"? Had they gone and told the police, "we're going to throw bottles"? Did they ask them, "are you going to throw bottles"? Of course not. The police just thought, "they might throw something" and took it from there. Same police that get every derby game shifted to Sunday lunchtime for 2 clubs that pride themselves on rarely seeing any trouble at all. This would've been disgraceful - had it happened. |
| News Comment | Double Signing From Shrews Confirmed at 13:33:14
I hope I'm not the only one who got to the type "Bith players have signed.." and read the rest of the article in a mock-French Allo Allo style accent? |
