| News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-0 Crewe Alexandra - Match Report at 21:33:45
Good win today against a good League 1 outfit. If Crewe continue to play like that they will have a good season. As for us, can't argue with 3 points but we are certainly suffering from our endless injuries. Agree with the comment made that it's good to see our home grown talent doing well. That is the way to re-build ITFC. As and when we get promoted back to the Championship, we will need to clear out a lot of deadwood. Reading despite their first loss of the season on Friday have shown what can be achieved. Flirting with relegation for a number of seasons but getting their act together and voila! Leeds United are another case in point. Relegated to League 1, got back up eventually but not pulling up any trees in the Championship. Built a good young team around home grown talent like Calvin Phillips. Then the owners put their hands in their pockets and invested wisely in talented players. Now look at them go. Note here to Marcus, appreciate your financial support now in a Covid-19 world but you have been too tight fisted in the past. |
| News Comment | Taylor: Really, Really Proud at 04:41:58
Just chatting to my son (we both live in NZ) and we agreed that the future looks so much better now for our club. Good result tonight, playing well generally even if we aren't yet firing on all cylinders. Average league crowds of over 20000 and a popular and successful manager who has shown really good judgement with the new players he has signed up. Look at James Wilson, Lincoln City reject after their promotion from League 2. He has done so well. This is already the best season for me since our play off season in 2014, if not better. It is fun being a Town fan again. A Norwich fan I know reckons that we will get automatic promotion this season and will probably be pushing for back-to-back promotions next season. I know we have a long way to go but we are doing far better than I thought we would (I had us down as play off contenders but no more) and that feel good factor is back at long last at Portman Road. |
| News Comment | EFL Announces Financial Sustainability Review at 00:45:17
The key problem in English football is the overwhelming greed of the EPL in general and its payers in particular. The powers at be babble on about sustainable financial models for the game but if I could wave a magic wand I would: 1) Split all English club football TV revenue (including all EPL games) 70% (3.5% per club on average) for the EPL, 15% for the Championship (0.625% per club), 7.5% for League 1 (just over 0.3% per club), 5% for League 2 (just over 0.2% per club) and 2.5% for the National League (5th tier clubs). 2) I would also prohibit any club spending more than 60% of its total revenue (including TV income) on players wages/bonuses etc etc Being realistic, the chance of either 'initiative' seeing the light of day is nil sadly. Which is why English football outside the big 6 clubs will continue to stagger from financial crisis to crisis! |

Yep I agree with the collective words of wisdom expressed. Wish all of the best for Josh. As for Darryl Murphy going to Bolton, good move by Bolton. Wouldn't have minded him coming back to Portman Road for a season! |

Hi everyone - my first time on TWTD (used to be 'Feather Pluckers Club' on the old 606 board on the Beeb). Living in NZ it gave a great start to my day to see Mick M's reign at PR getting off to a really good start. So many positives, holding onto our lead for 86 minutes, clean sheet, not to mention 3 points away to an in form Brum team. Don't know if anyone has noticed this but Town's away record is now better than that of table topping Cardiff. Don't mention our home form though (2 points compared with their 21) but that elusive 1st win at PR can't be far away. COYB. |
