What in the name of David James was our alleged Premier League-quality goalkeeper doing for both of those goals?!?

I absolutely can't bear this bloke. Seems to think it is desperately important that every single human being on the earth hears his opinion on everything. Spot spouting nonsensical tosh on Twitter and do your job.

Hurst: Adeyemi Will Have to Grit his Teeth and Get on With It
at 19:15:53

Don't know whether anyone else remembers this but we had a manager some odd years ago with a penchant for publicly airing grievances with players and laying into the club's previous management team. His name was Roy Keane and that all ended FABULOUSLY.

at 15:53:52

Really don't understand why some of you are up in arms about this. The bloke has looked decent in spells, shaky in others, and has spent half his time here injured. I keep hearing the argument that we should have taken the money for McGoldrick when we had the chance. How is this different? The only negative I can see from getting 5 million quid for a relatively unproven Championship centre half is that we are now even lighter in that department. However, from everything I've seen of Paul Hurst, I can't imagine that he doesn't have a plan to rectify this situation.

Ramsey's Boys at Barnsley Game
at 06:29:58

Wonderful news.

I'll be back over from Finland for that game and will be taking my three children to watch Ipswich play for the very first time. It will be a privilege for all of us to pay respect to six gentleman who are genuinely a part of club folklore.

I was born and bred in Ipswich but moved to Northern Finland six years ago. I occasionally go to watch AC Oulu who are the local outfit and play in the second tier of the Finnish league. To give you an idea of how poor the standard is, Shefki Kuqi still occasionally turns out for the national team :p

That said, I enjoy it and give the lads a clap when they manage to string a few passes together. I even took my five year-old son to his first match the other week and they duly obliged by winning 7-0. I had quite a job explaining to the boy that football isn't *usually* like that.

I guess what I'm saying is you've no reason to feel bad. Ipswich will always be your team, and some live football is better than no live football

Pessimistic,

I don't think anyone with eyes or a functioning brain would suggest that this Ipswich side doesn't have a lot of work to do. The evidence is there for all to see.

As I mentioned earlier, I simply fail to understand why - given that we know that the team needs TIME - you feel the urge to post blogs complaining about the performance after every single match.

When it come to Ipswich, I am also a pessimist by nature...especially given the level of "football" we've been subjected to for nigh on a decade now. However, there is nothing to gained by picking apart this new side so early on in the season. It's still the middle of August. Yeah, Jamie Scowcroft may say that we can only afford to lose three home games this season, but I'm sure that he remembers playing a significant role in a campaign where we were in the bottom 3 at Christmas and ended up making the play offs.

I am in no way comparing the team we have now to the one in which Scowcroft played in under George Burley, but my point is...just give them a chance. We might get better, we might get worse. Who knows?

You cannot painstakingly analyse a team until it has learned to play together. With the amount of new players we have, this does not occur four games into a season.

Pessimistic,

As far as I can tell, the main issue here in respect of your blogging is that the sheer regularity of it contradicts your repeated calls to give PJ and the players time.

We all know that this side is a work in progress and you have stated that they cannot be judged after so few games. This being the case, why on earth would you waste your time and everybody else's by posting a blog after EVERY SINGLE MATCH?

Just leave it for a few months and let's see where we are at Christmas.

Town Reportedly Leading Race for Nosworthy
at 07:11:11

@ bobble..."these foreign players"?????

1. The implication being what? We should only go for English players? Or we could limit it to just those born and bred in Suffolk. The Athletic Bilbao of the Championship, we'd be...although not for long as we'd be relegated by about November. Surely moaning about players just because they are "foreign" is slightly ignorant and more than a little racist.

2. As somebody else has already pointed out, the player in question is English anyway. The internet is a useful tool as it enables us to research subjects about which we know nothing. Perhaps keep that in mind.

3. @ everyone...why are we complaining? We have about two centre backs on our books at the moment. Nosworthy hasn't even signed yet (if he even does) and we're already on his back. Give the bloke a chance.

Wickham Again Linked With Newcastle
at 08:18:36

1) Exactly how is he twice the player of an England international who has scored goals regularly in the Premiership this season?
2) Exactly how is he a better player than Darren Bent was at 18? Besides the two of them being completely different types of strikers, it ought to be remembered that at 18, Bent was scoring 15-20 goals a season.

I'm not denying that Wickham is talented, but let's try to keep a sense of perspective here. Does he have the potential to be a very good player: Yes. Would he get a game at a top Premiership club: At this stage, no way.

Wickham Linked With Premier Trio, Delaney With Derby and Keys Slammed for Johnno Racial Slur
at 19:22:49

@blueblood66,

Of course the term "jocko" is racist. It is a word with negative connotations that stigmatises a particular group based on its nationality. Ditto "paddy," "taffy" and the like.

Call a Scottish person a "jocko" to their face and see what the reaction is...

Richard Keys is an absolute joke. It would take an ignorant racist scumbag to use "it was off-air" as an excuse for this sorry state of affairs. "That's okay then Rich. So long as you're only racist in your free-time..." Idiot.

Keane: No One to Blame But Ourselves
at 18:31:29

I don't mean to keep ranting on about the same thing but...there were six loanees today in our squad of eighteen.

Presumably Keane must know more about football than I do. He has captained Manchester United, won the Champion's League and played for his country on numerous occasions. I am a trainee teacher. That said, how many successful sides do you know of that include such a disproportionate number of players that do not even belong to the club?

Our squad lacks numbers. Who sold a shed-load of players without bringing in adequate replacements ?
We have no one in the middle of the park who is able to pick a pass. Whose fault is that?
The first 11 lacks cohesion. Who changes the team for no apparent reason?
Crowds are dropping alarmingly? Who is quite happy to take thirty quid out of our pockets but deny us the right to voice an opinion that differs from his own?

I attended my first Town game at the age of six. It was against Bradford City in 1988, and Dalian Atkinson equalised in the last minute. My father is Town through and through, as was my late grandfather. It breaks my heart to have to criticise the club but it is no good burying my head in the sand. This is, without question, the worst Ipswich side I have ever seen.

I accept that we will probably never again be up there with the Uniteds and Chelseas of this world, but what I will never accept is the disgusting anti-football foisted upon us by Keane. It is utter tosh to suggest that we cannot be successful in this league by playing good football. We managed it under Burley and Royle, and plenty of teams manage it now (our local rivals being the obvious, albeit painful, example).

He needs to go. It is no exaggeration to say that the life is being sucked out of our football club. Come On You Blues.

Keane Looking to Bounce Back at Norwich
at 09:44:28

Will we be "looking for a reaction?" Idiot. The man communicates entirely in cliches.

"We want to be hard to beat." So that'll be us taking it to Norwich with attacking football in the hope of winning back the fans that YOU alienated with your negative tactics and insulting comments, will it?

Just go.

Keane: No 12th Man at Portman Road
at 19:41:16

They are highly paid, professional sportsmen.

It is not cheap to watch Ipswich play and I believe very strongly that supporters have a right to voice their feelings. This is a football club, not a fascist state.

Stop looking for other people to blame. It's not difficult. Get the players to pass the ball to one another, instead of playing like some horrendous imitation of Wimbledon in the late '80s and we might just cheer.

I was very strongly behind Keane when he came here but I find that I dislike him more and more every time he opens that stupid mouth.

Keane Disappointed With Defeat
at 10:34:07

I do not understand how anyone could still be pro-Keane.

Our style of play is horrendous and it's not even as if we are getting the results to justify such blatant anti-football.

I have read so many comments making the point that the league is open and we are still in with a chance, but that is no indication of progress. If anyone thinks we are 4 points off 4th place (or whatever it is) because we are a good side, they are deluded and not watching the same games that I am. Let's face it...most teams in this league are rubbish. We are slightly less rubbish than some of them and a good deal more rubbish than others. Nothing to be proud of.

Walters Again Hits Out at Keane
at 10:53:22

Keane is by no means my favourite bloke at the moment but Walters really ought to grow up and let it go.

It's never particularly edifying to see professional sportsmen behaving like schoolchildren. "But sir, Keano said it first."

Pillock.

Keane: We\'re Not Ready to Cement Top Six Place
at 07:26:33

The thing that irritates me here is that he keeps ranting on about "not being afraid to change a winning team" and then every time he does so, we lose.

We do not have a good enough squad to be tinkering with a first 11 that seems to be gelling; particularly when playing against teams of a similar standard.

Can you imagine the team selection meeting? "Yeah, Jason...listen (Keane always says "listen"), I wanted a reaction from you and Tamas after the three straight defeats earlier in the season and you've both given me that. You have developed an excellent partnership and are both getting goals. So I've decided to drop you to the bench in favour of a teenager, low in confidence, who hasn't scored all season."

The man defies belief.

Keane: Town Won\'t Look to Sell Wickham
at 18:11:18

I've given up trying to make any sense of the utter nonsense that comes out of this man's mouth.

As has been previously stated, why do we have three midfield loanees if our attack is the area that needs strengthening? If money is so tight at the moment, who are we going to bring in who is any better than Stead? Why is a man who claims that the buck stops with him continually making excuses for our position? How is team morale supposed to improve when the manager seems to spend most of his time bemoaning the lack of quality in our squad?

I just wish he'd stop talking.

Keane: Priskin Deserves a Chance
at 06:28:23

Absurd piece of non-news. Was it the supporters who chose to remove him from the side when he was just beginning to find some semblence of form? Give him an extended run and let's see what happens.

Has anyone else noticed that Keane's interviews read like a psychoanalysis? He contradicts himself every week, and there are moments of excessive confidence mixed with self-doubt, "Maybe I thought about the game too much," "Maybe I'm guilty of making too many changes." It's all rather odd :p
