Kits for next season
at 19:30 20 May 2024

They do.

Not at all unusual for clubs to use the previous seasons away as a third kit at that level. Believe Brighton's registered third kit this year was last seasons away.

Kits for next season
at 18:47 20 May 2024

I'd expect the home to be fully blue and the away white, blue and red, one of the only Umbro away kits not to have been referenced yet, so not necessarily inspired by an old kit, but using that colorway - which even ties in nicely with the US investment and allows the orange or black kits to be used as a third kit for the likes of Brighton away.

But you never know. The cream and black came out of nowhere. As did the green and maroon. So it could end up being gold or pink or even yellow and really surprising us. Would seem unlikely to be black, orange or red given they've been used by Umbro already.

However, if it ends up being Castore, as is now the case with Burnley, who were also due to be Umbro this season before Castore purchased the rights, then I'll just be happy with the crest being the right way up and not looking like I've fell into a river, 5 minutes into 7-a-side.

A bit of perspective
at 11:13 20 May 2024

I'd fancy these players under McKenna to have got the 27 points or whatever it was that was needed to have stayed up this season.

Having been involved in a record high points total for the top three in League One, then a record points total for the top three in the Championship, I am expecting us to probably need 76 points next season to finish above Forest into 17th next year knowing our luck! Lol.

I take it you weren't there at the League Cup Semi Final?

I have struggled to find anyone there that night that has any time for them and that's aside from the flame throwers on the pitch, intimidation of the ref, pitch invasions and the bits that happened on the pitch.

Off it was the worst I've ever seen in my time. Vile, vile club,

Brighton sideways move?
at 21:08 18 May 2024

Brighton are significantly ahead of us.

In the same way that this season Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United were.

And in the same way that Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Watford were last season.

The simple fact is that we could easily be sat about Brighton in 12 months time. We could easily be a division above them.

We aren't going to be bigger than Chelsea or Man Utd any time soon or potentially ever.

So whilst what Brighton have done has been phenomenal, as with Brentford, they are one bad season or poor managerial appointment or injury crisis away from being below us in the pyramid.

That's the difference between massive clubs and clubs our size or smaller that have been above us for a few good years.

Why not.

Been assaulted at football twice in 40+ years.

Once as a child (Birmingham home) and once away as an adult in 2001 - although in fairness that night most of us were assaulted that night.

On both occasions I was completely innocent and minding my own business. Saw them hit kids with coins that night. Throw punches at women. All whilst winning the tie!

Never seen anything like that anywhere else I’ve been.

Absolutely hate them.

Town back in the Premier League.

Norwich playoff heartbreak.

Bolton playoff heartbreak.

Sheffield United relegated.

Birmingham relegated.

Just need a Leeds playoff heartbreak and that’s the five clubs I dislike the most all miserable whilst we are back in the big time.

Yep.

Remember the Soccer AM interview where he basically said that he didn’t have much interest in football but his Dad supports Norwich so he’s now an Ipswich fan.

Can’t imagine he follows us at all beyond that.

Oh no. We've lost the twitter war
at 16:36 17 May 2024

You only have to look at the fact they were singing 15 years before the game at their place in April. Before.

At that stage we'd had most of this season, four years in League One and then the relegation season when we drew twice with them. So it was nearly 7 years since they'd even beaten us.

So they are singing a song about a period between 2009 and 2017 where we didn't beat them and in about half of those seasons we didn't play them either.

Absolute weapons.

He is. But surely they can't all be that good.

Wasn't Critchley an Assistant at Liverpool. Was Beale an assistant at Villa and Rangers?

There's no way they can be lucky enough to get the next McKenna by simply copying us. Surely?

Very strong vibes of 'yeah she left me for a better looking, fitter, younger bloke who has achieved all my dreams, is loaded, with a better house and a better car, who by all means is a far more superior lover and much better endowed and is well liked by everyone and he makes her laugh, and she's so happy, but he doesn't have a green recycling bin'.

Imagine, hours after a humiliating playoff defeat, which should have been 7 or 8, declaring you have more Twitter followers than your more successful rivals who've just been promoted a division above you.

Absolutely laughable that lot.

Ipswich Town is famous for being a decent, friendly club

On a far more serious note, I hope they get limited fees in the market for Sara, Sargeant and Rowe, the only remotely decent players that they have and then fall into obscurity finally.

They've had their time. How many times have they fluked a promotion (Middlesbrough's bus being late to Wembley) or a player sale has saved them (Maddison) when they've been close to financial ruin.

It's about time they went back to being a lower half Championship team, with limited talent, watched by 17,000, who dream of being as big as their rivals.

That he'd been sounded out through his representatives about going to Norwich if they failed to go up.

Was hoping it was Leroy!

But given Rosenior turned down Plymouth, I would imagine it may well have some substance in it and he's on their shortlist.

Which would be a shame. Rosenior seems a really likeable, top bloke. Thought similar about Chris Hughton but managed to find a way to want him to fail miserably so I'm sure I can manage.

Hopefully it's this Arsenal guy however. Feel like that's more of a risk. First they welcome the coaches with pyro's, then they look to take on the assistant of a top Premier club. Where do they get their ideas?

at 11:25 17 May 2024

Ashton has done so much great work in the local community, I thought perhaps the good folk of TWTD could come together and help those just outside of that range, especially our good friends struggling in Norfolk.

For many years we have been told that history doesn't count. Having been Champions of England, UEFA Cup winners, FA Cup winners, it doesn't matter. It is in the past. Unless of course it's 1993 and it's the best team you ever had (one that matched Town's fifth greatest feat, which we managed several times) and a win against the worst Bayern Munich side statistically in the previous 70 years or so. Then of course it counts.

But Norwich need not worry about that. Because a lot of us would have begrudgingly agreed that the here and now counts too. But oops. We seem to have found ourselves a bloody division higher didn't we. So I guess the here and now can't be a true indicator of success after all. Because they'd have to concede we are better now AND better historically.

So I guess we can at least give them the small award of having better attendances and a bigger stadium and all that. But hang on. We seem to have overtaken them there too. The stadium is of course bigger. But somehow, with a Town smaller in population than their City we now seem to be getting bigger crowds too. With sell outs next year that can only continue. Oh well. For a while when we were better than them currently and previously at least they had crowds.

So help me out here. I'm struggling. All that REALLY matters in football is not the now or the past but the very specific head to head fixtures over a period of time, carefully selected, when your team had a £400m advantage from multiple Premier League promotions which was ultimately frittered away with nothing at all to show for it apart from a much older, weaker squad.

So come on. Help them out. They need our support. We've got head to head record (you know the sort of thing that means that ultimately Cheltenham are better than us and that we are better than Real Madrid. That's how it works right? That's what matters.

They also have more social media followers. But to be honest we all know the moment we step into the Premier League we will overtake them too with all the new Town fans from across the globe.

So what can we give them?

- Higher mustard production?
- More celebrity chefs on the board?
- More incoherent drunken ramblings during half time speeches?

I'm struggling now. There must be something. After all they are The Pride of Anglia don't you know.

If Town could only wear one home kit for the rest all time
at 14:55 14 May 2024

What would you choose?

Options would be:

Blue shirt
Blue shirt, white pinstripes
Blue shirt, white sleeves

With

White shorts, Blue socks
Blue shorts, Blue socks

With

Traditional yellow crest
New red crest

Shade of blue is non-negotiable as anyone choosing the 2001 TXU Energi blue is banned from any such vote!

I was right behind that free kick. If the net wasn’t there it would have hit me.

One of three goals that have been absolutely right towards me. That, Celina’s chip v Crewe and McGugan’s ridiculous free kick at Forest.

Knew the second Thommo hit that it was going in. Such a quality strike.

All Leeds, aren’t we?
at 09:39 10 May 2024

I’m in the group that wants to see Norwich close to liquidation or in the conference and an absolute joke that pales further into insignificance.

Sod all this premier league derby lark.

Norwich would offer the least threat in the premier league, along with West Brom. Either of those plus Leicester gives us a huge chance of staying up.

But I want Leeds to murder Norwich home and away, forcing them to sell Sara and Sargeant without whom they are relegation fodder.

West Brom to go up ideally. But can live with Southampton even if it does mean Russell Martin as Leeds may well be the bigger threat in the top division.

Back to back promotions is one thing. But with the same script?
at 11:02 8 May 2024

It's just completely crazy that (aside from clean sheets in League One and conceding a load in the Championship) we had pretty much the same script throughout.

Out of the blocks with a crazy run of wins, cementing our place in the Top 2 with a solitary home defeat all season thrown in.

Winter months hit and we go through a bad patch which is actually just too many draws but a couple of defeats in there too.

Then a strong January window, a relentless winning run amongst our end to the season that culminated in a team throwing away a massive lead at the top, a brief potential four horse race, before an away win all but secured it.

Really all that was different was winning every game 4-3 and 3-2 instead of 4-0 and 3-0. One year it was clean sheets, the other it was come backs.

That aside it was absolutely spooky how similar it was. Unless McKenna really is that bloody good.
