I loved Boon- it was the Brummie Minder. Almost completely ripped off the whole format, right down to the bald bloke who ran the bar who was the only one they could trust. But in Boon, it was a hotel.
A friend had their wedding reception there in about 1996, and they still had framed photos of the cast up in the reception area.
He has certain attributes that would translate (strength, relentless determination) and if he were to come off the bench and hit a hit streak of two or three goals then he will suddenly be worth at least £10 million.
But, crucially, he is now 22, so wouldn't count as a "free" squad member under the "Homegrown" under-21 rule.
Hutchinson would count as a "free" additional squad member beyond the usual 25, if we were able to get him to return.
Cameron Humphreys is also interesting from this perspective. He is young enough to count as an additional squad player, but is the club better served by loaning him out?
Humphreys can never be them, and McKenna's emphasis on doing what you can do, rather than what you can't, means he won't be asked to.
What he can do is watch videos of Luka Modric, and see how he was able to get the better of Ya Ya Toure, Steven Gerrard or Sergio Busquets in huge games.
There's still room for intelligent, unselfish, small Midfielders.
I read the title and first line on the Forum page, and clicked it thinking "I'm going to add "Days" to this thread. Had it playing in my head before the page opened.
But my point still applies: he was representing Ipswich, the town and the Club, when things were very bad indeed, and if he was invited by the Club especially it is because there are people at the Club who appreciate that.
He represents "Running towards adversity" as well as anyone could. The hate is bizarre, and the implied "We're Premier League now and he isn't, so we don't need him" leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
