Building a High Performance Team at ITFC
at 21:04:04

Elephant you are of course entitled to your opinion, but I’d argue you’re very much in the minority here. Throwing about “psychobabble” and “naievity” doesn’t do it for me. A totally negative and misplaced summary of the work in progress. The shocking management ineptitude and woeful attitude of the players last season begged complete reboot, and thank god we got it…

I’d go further, we still have some management relics and supposed “legends” that will probably move on. The academy players were puffed up kids believing they were better then they really were, a total attitude change was needed. The owners have shown more traction from across the pond then ME ever did in his tenure. It is work in progress and the piece that Jamie blogged is not complicated and an obvious and true assessment of where we are. There’s no rocket science there, it’s common sense and pretty clear.

I believe we will perform, the players will work it out, and the results will come. Most of us expected a bumpy ride, and always expected the negative trolls and idiots to drop out the woodwork quickly. So, we will be there or thereabouts this season, but this IS a new set up, anew team, a work in progress, and WILL succeed… it may not even be this season, but I suspect it will. 3 points on Saturday will just nudge us towards the upward curve Jamie!

Town Had Approval For Fans' Return
at 14:32:51

Jeez, spot on Icant... all up for a bit of a debate, but really?! Out of 9,000 season ticket holders and around 17,000 regulars at home, I hope to god these posts aren't representative of the average bloke, woman or kid who just go to watch football and support the team we love. Aren't we losing the plot a little here?! It is what it is - across Europe not just in the UK - I'm a season ticket holder of over 40 years at Portman Road, and this sucks more than anything else I've ever known, as it does for everyone - but we're stuck with it. Conspiracy theories or not, political preferences or not, all I want to see is another 3 points on Saturday and have booked my match pass to watch it as best I can and support the boys as best I can. Get over yourselves guys.

Fans' Return Paused
at 12:22:47

This was always going to happen... you can sit on the tube, work in an office, get on a plane... the positive mental benefits of getting out to watch football (yes, even us!!) in a safe environment are huge. Was really hoping to get in by the end of the month, it's a blow. See they managed to get 1,000 in at Carrow Rd - mind you, I'm sure that's not the first time 1,000 people have been used for an experiment in Norfolk

Former Loanee Garbutt Joins Blackpool
at 12:14:00

wouldashouldacoulda... it's history, we move on. We'd have liked to have signed him, yes - last season with him and KVY we had a decent pair of attacking full backs for the first time in years, which fitted our early pattern, and got us a great start. This year, we just deal with what we've got - not bad so far, right? Not a bad back four, still missing KVY and Wolfy. Good luck to him wherever, who cares?!

Town Determined to Tackle Increase in Abusive Chanting
at 15:13:15

Cantona11 - I agree completely, really I do... Listen, I'm prone to a profanity every now and then, and like I said, it's football for crissake - I've been going home and away for 45 years on and off, so I'm really not precious - but I know what I heard, and there was NO interpretation needed, I promise you that. Maybe you're right, but I hate confrontation and perhaps should have had the guts - but I didn't. So I just did what I thought was right. My whole point here is that I hope the club have changed their approach to following things up, that's all - talking the talk is fine, but my experience was the opposite.

Get your point TractorRoy - we're hardly the most controversial or edgy crowds, and yes, that's not a lot from 20k (ish) a week - but which bit of one of our own supporters being clearly racist to one of our own players is acceptable? Maybe the molehills are just as important sometimes, right? The point is, if the club is going to do something about it, every one of those emails is important isn't it?

No, tell you what - mountain out of a molehill, let's forget it and all move on? Sorry buddy, just don't agree with that.

Vincent-Young Could Be Two or Three Weeks Away From Return
at 11:49:13

Be great to have KVY back - I think the Garbutt and KVY wide play was a big part of the start we had, getting decent service in to the box, it's never got back to that. If we can have that going on for the run in, we're in with a shout at least .

I made a complaint in the South stand upper last season. Didn't want to do it to a steward there and then because I wanted to stay anonymous - so I made a note of the exact seat, and then emailed after the game. I know he was a season ticket holder (as am I) so they will have his name and details. I told them exactly what this idiot was shouting - it was racist at one of our own players (yes, really...) unacceptable swearing in front of kids (OK, we all let rip sometimes but this was way out of order) and to be honest a continuous tirade of ignorant crap nobody should put up with. Wish I'd had bigger balls and done it at the time now, but just don't like the confrontation.

Anyway, the upshot is I got a wishy washy email back from the club telling me to talk to a steward next time, nothing they could do, etc, etc. It was pathetic. So, Mr Hayton, now I have moved my season ticket away from this idiot to a totally different part of the ground, what are you going to do that is different? Yes, it's football, we all like to shout, I go to away games and am as vociferous as the next guy, I love my club, but we can do without the idiots, and when I give the club all the ammo they need to sort something they run a mile.

Rant over... but it makes me mad reading that after doing what I thought was the right thing.

Lambert: No Complaints, We Didn't Do Enough
at 11:53:36

If I remember rightly I think most of us turned up at Portman Road for the home fixture, expecting us to breeze 3 points against them - and they did exactly the same thing then - far stronger, seemed to want it more, pressed hard, were really bloody irritating, but did a great League 1 job on us - and to be fair they played a bit of football last night, it wasn't all hoofing up field - they played better football than we did.

Listen, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger - they've done the double on us, deservedly, but we will learn and react to that I think. Pretty sure Peterborough will suffer from a reaction from us - but have no idea which way that one's going to go, but one things for sure, they will score goals so we need to score more.

I agree, make the changes earlier, maybe Bish for Huws would have helped, Nors was definitely up for a fight, etc - but we will be there or thereabouts - we weren't top of the table by luck, same as Rotherham aren't there by luck now. COYB - 3 points Saturday and I'll take a point at Stadium of Light...

Lambert: Sunderland Boss Ross Needed More Time
at 12:45:40

I think Paul Lambert has summed it up pretty much bang on - although fairness has very little to do with football these days. I think they'd have bubbled up to at least a play off spot this season - and I genuinely think they'll be looking at us and thinking that's what should be happening with them - League One is definitely a "must get out first time" league - otherwise we'll be in the same position as Sunderland next season. But we won't, as we're going up as Champions this season.. Amazing, after what that complete idiot Hurst did to us in a short space of time. Jack Ross is no Paul Hurst - but be careful what you wish for Sunderland!

History Boys and Renaissance Men
at 13:39:51

An amazing season - maybe we were the first team to seriously get close to the "treble". Things that irked me - should never have lost to Man City, and the thought of the two Dutchman vs the two Argentinians at Wembley for the cup final would just have been brilliant. The trip home from Villa Park after that semi - hideous... But more than anything, giving Manager of the Year to Ron Saunders!! Bobby Robson worked miracles, came close to the first ever modern day treble, how he was pipped by Saunders beggars belief... OK, I need to let this go now...Nope, still too soon.

Woolfenden: Our Aim is to Win the League
at 08:38:43

So early to tell. But I do agree about the winning mentality - it has to start immediately - there are no friendlies... but we ARE one of the big clubs that everyone will be looking to shoot down in flames, no doubt about it. Plus why not let the lads be positive about the season? Good on you, set targets. What's wrong with their desire to go straight up - strange call to criticise that already I think? How would we feel if they were all saying it's going to be crap and we'll be lucky to make top six? Nobody has come right out and said we're going to breeze it, we all know that's never going to happen but jeez, cut some slack... I'll leave judgement until I've seen Burton away and Sunderland at home - I think we'll have a fair idea of where the land lies then.
