Bid Lodged For Al-Hamadi, New Offer For Gallagher Turned Down
Thursday, 25th Jan 2024 22:16

Town are reported to have offered AFC Wimbledon just over £1 million for striker Ali Al-Hamadi, while the Blues have had a new bid for Blackburn’s Sam Gallagher turned down.

According to the South London Press, the Blues have lodged the bid for Al-Hamadi but with the Dons believed to value the Iraq international at more than £2 million.

Al-Hamadi, who is currently at the AFC Asian Cup with his national side, signed a two-and-a-half year deal when he joined the Dons in January last year.

The 21-year-old’s former club Wycombe Wanderers are understood to be due a significant sell-on from a move, while Leeds United, Stoke City and Hull City are said to have been keeping tabs on the Liverpool-raised frontman this season.

Elsewhere, TWTD can confirm reports that Town have had a new bid rejected for Blackburn striker Sam Gallagher.

The Blues made a number of offers, understood to be just above the £1 million mark, for the 28-year-old last week with Rovers initially appearing receptive to a deal before a change of heart, perhaps due to concerns regarding finding a replacement. Gallagher himself is keen on making the move.

The striker is out of contract in the summer but with Rovers having an option for a further season, however, with Gallagher believed to be their highest-paid player, they're understood to be less than keen to take up the additional year.

Town are looking to sign two strikers during this window with George Hirst sidelined for most of the rest of the season having undergone hamstring surgery and loanee Dane Scarlett having returned to parent club Tottenham.

I don’t mind if we do, I don’t mind if we don’t. I think we’ve been looking at him for a while and we’ll have his stats. From the vids, Wimbledon play a high press and Al-Hamadi exploits it. I know it’s against lesser opposition but the goal is the same size.

If we are spending 2 mil on this guy then he must be highly rated, league 2 or not, I am very excited to see him sign and to shut up all the negativity.

In form goal scorers fetch premium price no matter what division they play in. The goals he scored on his you tube video are so similar to the goals Hirst scores, another perfect fit?

In all honesty, judging my some reports, Leeds have been scouting him. (Plus others) So if we want this deal done, get it done. Because if we don't, someone else certainly will.

Always a good gauge to see which other clubs are interested, to be fair if Leeds are keeping tabs then he’s certainly at a decent level. Interesting One.

fingers crossed , its going to be a nervy week ,but hey ho we are used to that lol. Notoriously bad window is January, so this has to be taken into account, people doubting the clubs ambition ect need to get real .

The nearer ‘closure’ gets the more likely it is that deals will be agreed ,especially if finance is at the root of Club planning .
Let’s keep the faith , knowing whatever does or does not happen we’ve still the very best Management and Ownership team determined to look after ITFC and all that’s in the best interests !

My guess is re Gallagher, that having read Blackburn have bid for one, maybe 2 other strikers, that if they get one in, then they'll allow Gallagher to go. Especially as it appears, he wants to come here

Whenever a previous team has a significant sell on clause in a contract, it always seems to make negotiations much more difficult as the current selling team bumps the price up massively.

Such is the case with Al-Hamadi by the looks of things That's not so say he's not worth persuing though but I trust MA will do what's right for the Club, however time is now slipping away. An interesting one.

According to the BBC "Crystal Palace have had an £18.5m bid for Blackburn midfielder Adam Wharton rejected", which indicates that Blackburn are driving a hard bargain for any targets, after the fuss created when they let us pinch Lewis earlier in the transfer window. It would be good to get Al-Hamadi in.

Wasn't that long ago if we were among other interested clubs for a players signature we had no chance, different story these days!

We are desperate for a striker or two that's for sure, Warnock said it the other night after Leicester game, he has signed players and it has made things worse! I would rather sign no-one than a wrong un. The togetherness within this squad is priceless, whoever we sign needs to fit within the group both on and off the pitch!

Signing a good striker in January has to be the hardest position to find!

£2 million is a lot of money for a lad who has played just one season for Wimbledon plus a few games for Wycombe and Bromley.

On loan at Rotherham or Cambridge within a year with the same ‘supporters’ getting excited now saying he ‘isn’t good enough’.

MA and McK know what they're doing, if they think he's a player worth pursuing that's good enough for me.
As highlighted in the media FFP is tightening, so like it or loath it we now have to work within certain parameters, like all clubs now, even the top end prem teams...

SpiritOfJohn is spot on. What is the point chasing down an average Champ striker when Blackburn have a history of not cashing in on their assets (think Brereton-Diaz), unless it is a decoy?! Al-Hamadi looks realistic, but you have to wonder what Gas thinks about that!

I have to say, watching this guy's goals on YT. He looks ideal - very strong and fast, often winning the ball in a high press, finish with both feet comfortably, knows where the goal is having scored 13 so far, with 6 assists. Hopefully he can make the step up to the Championship with development by McKenna - he does look far too good for league two already.

All transfers are a risk even if you pay 30 or 50 million ask Chelsea but the fact Al-Hadami is playing regular international football albeit for Irag against some quality opponents fills me with more confidence and he's only 21 by Ipswich standards an up and coming youngster. Gallagher if signed would slip straight into the team if fit with Al-Hadami on the bench. Either way i shall be backing McKenna's judgement rather than the experts on TWTD.

As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers, "I-ya know-a nottink".
KM & MA have the big picture & know how to play the recruitment game & data & support to do what they think best. Not let us down so far & no reason that'll change , so let's assume whatever happens is the best that can be done under the circumstances.
Either way, we're in for a nail bitting 2nd half of the season. Who'd have thought.
Bring it on!

I watched this player at Bromley where quite frankly he was awful but he has certainly improved whilst at Wimbledon. I trust the manager and the scouting team but would want this to be a supporting signing rather than the main action of the window.

would recommend not watching highlight videos of anyone. Could make myself look good by that means. Can see Wimbledon waiting until end of transfer window, as he may catch more clubs eyes over in Qatar
