Chelsea Youngster Hutchinson On Town's List
Monday, 17th Jul 2023 19:32

Chelsea forward Omari Hutchinson is among the names on Town’s list of potential summer recruits, TWTD understands.

Earlier this evening, The Chelsea Spot reported that the 19-year-old is in advanced talks with the Blues regarding a loan, however, we understand that that overstates the position but with Hutchinson a player who is of interest to Town as Kieran McKenna looks to make further additions to his squad ahead of the start of the season.

Redhill-born Hutchinson had spells with his current club, Charlton and Arsenal as an academy player before returning to Stamford Bridge last summer.

Hutchinson has made two senior sub appearances for Chelsea - one on the league in addition to having been on the bench a further four times without getting on the field - and has stayed behind from their pre-season tour in order to sort out a loan.

Last season, he netted seven goals and picked up eight assists in 21 games for West Londoners' U21s in Premier League 2.

Hutchinson has played at Portman Road, for Arsenal in the Papa Johns Trophy tie in December 2021 in which he netted the decisive penalty in the shootout.

West Brom were understood to be keen on a loan in January and there's speculation that they could renew their interest.

Having been capped by England at U17 and U19 level, Hutchinson switched allegiance to Jamaica, for whom he has made two senior appearances.

Another attacking player to operate either behind the main striker or out wide looks to be one of the Blues' priorities ahead of the start of the season with Crystal Palace's Jesurun Rak-Sakyi understood to be another player Town have been eyeing.

From that video it looks like he'd create lots of chances, by cutting back some great balls into the areas that Chaplin, Hirst & Taylor would gobble up.

Hmmmm....clearly a talented lad, but for me i'd rather see Edwards be given more play time rather than bringing in a similar player on loan. I know It's a squad game and it's good to have back up, but Edwards can play on either flank and barely gets on the field, so would this young fella jump ahead of him (I hope not), or just also sit on the bench (In which case why bring him in ?). If he does come then i'll be as excited as anyone to see him dong his thing, but not convinced.

I have no idea who we should be getting in, but I have every confidence that KM and MA will bring in some great players even if they miss out on some targets.

I'm sure he'd develop well under KMcK but that doesn't mean he's upgrade our squad which is what I think we require to push on. Basically doing PL club's development for them. Our loanees need to be stronger than this, more developed, to upgrade us.

Joyousblue. That’s why the under 21s never win the pizza cup and that’s against league one reserve teams…. So no l don’t think so

troyparrotsleftear Loans are only bad when you structure your whole team around them. Just look at our loan players from last season. One we bought, and the other looked like a great addition until he got injured and still cared enough to watch us get promoted. A lot of players that come on loan are very reluctant to drop down a level, but if they come on loan, fit in well and get settled, then they are much more likely to drop down. Also, there is a much reduced risk, because we can buy only the players that succeed with us.

What about John-Jules

You could gamble on signing a 19 year old or you could take him on loan and have a long look at him first. The latter seems sensible to me.

I would imagine he would be injury cover for either Burns or Davis....being under the age of 21 he wouldn't count towards the 25 man squad? I really cant see him playing as the no.9?!? I can see why some dont fancy him would he out perform the likes of Edwards/Aluko & Jackson??

He's quick with the ball, got 2 really good feet and possesses some quality in the set-piece department....One for the future me thinks :)

Woukdn’t we prefer loans where we have a fighting chance of retaining the player? Trouble is with this guy and JRS is there would be little or no chance of buying unless maybe we get promoted at the first attempt. But I doubt they’re for sale anyway (esp if they do well with us) and if they are for sale, they’d cost more than Ellis Simms.

Am still hoping we get TJJ back .. terrific footballer and seemed to love being with us. I think he’s in his last contract year at Arsenal…

We do need another good player for that role. Do not think any team in the Championship will be scared of seeing Edwards, Aluko or Jackson on the team sheet.

Still looks like a schoolboy developing,
sure chelski would love to have their youngsters coached at Ipswich,

From those clips what’s not to like about him but can’t see him or Chelsea being content in letting him come here and not getting game time. Would be one hell of a player to bring on in games as an impact sub, but would maybe curtail our own players match time.
Ryan Fraser was a loan that did well for us but those were darker times and we didn’t have the squad we have now or a manager of McKenna’s ilk.

It's not just about ability it's also about him being of good character. The spirit at the club is excellent at the moment and it would only take one big time Charlie to up set everything. But knowing McKenna's attention to detail he would have done his homework.

Why not develop our own players not someone else's. Can't see the point to this one if true. Let's get some experience in not kids that need half a season to adjust. Not for me.

I got very fed up last season with the lack of game time that Edwards and Aluko got. Edwards made terrific game changing impacts from the bench, and if that's the way its to be this season then fine. But to bring Rak Sayki in and promote him over the far more gifted Edwards would be folly. Aluko for me is a fabulous footballer and very unfortunate to be behind Harness and Jackson in the pecking order. I'm not enthused by any of the current links. Defensively is where we'll be found out this season, and until a new centre half is brought in we're gonna look very unbalanced.

At the risk of being pedantic

44.9.2 The following Players do not need to be included in the Squad List to be eligible to play in League Matches:

(a) in respect of Championship Clubs, any Under 21 Player (save for any Under 21 Player who is registered with the Club on a Temporary Loan Transfer); and

If I read this right he is a squad player which for a completely untested youngster in a hard physical league seems a nonsense

Trncbluearmy. If indeed that is right, then how come Tyreece John jules wasn't part of the 22 man squad last season? Or was it different rules for lge1? Don't think if it's ok for young players such as palmer, for example, at man city to play in the pl that playingvin the championship should be a massive issue. Have to wait and see. I suspect tho, that we may be looking at him, as maybe palace won't release Rak Sakyi, as he may be needed with olive having had an op
