New Kits Fastest-Selling in Town History
Monday, 3rd Jul 2023 16:09

Town new home and away kits, which were launched on Saturday morning, have become the fastest-selling in the club’s history with more than £11,000 already raised for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

The Blues sold in excess of 6,500 in the first day of sale, double the record set a year ago.

That figure has now climbed to more than 8,000, 5,500 home shirts and 2,500 away.

Town are donating £2 from every home shirt sold in July to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, the charity supported by Blues legend Marcus Stewart, who revealed last year that he is battling the disease and who featured in the club’s promotional video and photos.

The first-team wore the new home strip in the pre-season friendly at Felixstowe & Walton United on Saturday afternoon.

“I pulled up at Felixstowe and was amazed by how many people were already wearing the new kits, which had only gone on sale a few hours earlier,” CEO Mark Ashton told the club website.

“We’re working in partnership with Marcus and his wife Louise, who were both so supportive as part of the launch, and we as a club want to support him and the charity he is working with.

“Two pounds from every home kit we sell in July will be going to the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, so I’d ask fans to get along, buy the kit and remember we are supporting Marcus.

“Sales have flown and we’re so grateful to the fans who have gone out and bought the new shirts.”

The away shirt I could understand its popularity, but not the home shirt. Not a favourite of mine that's for sure, but hey, each to their own eh guys!

Has TWTD become the home of ITFC's whingebag fans? After all the negativity on here on Saturday about the new kit, low and behold it becomes a record setter!
To be honest my enjoyment of all the positivity of the last 12 months is often soured by reading the vitriloic statements by the same old culprits on here. Some of you are just so bitter when someone else disagrees with your opinion! And that is my opinion, just be respectful of your fellow fans... and I love the new kit, que the usual bitter critics...

Not sure I'm being out of order, but personally(and it's all about opinions), the home kit isn't great (the collar looks a bit odd, the white shoulder strip (whilst remeniscent of a great time) looks a bit plain. (The 00 version had a thin red edge to it?l. Away kit looks good though.....will be buying that....

What a classy touch by the club to support the charity.

It's brilliant that our shirts are promoting Ed Sheeran and raising money for charity, whereas many other clubs' shirts are promoting gambling.

Blueray. The problem is we've had fans, at every kit release for the past god knows how many season, moaning aboutcths shirt not having a collar. So they get one with a collar, and suddenly they're moaning that it has got one. This club can't win with a section of our fans. Fact is, some have to have something to be negative about. And as there's nothing else to moan about, they've found something.

It's all about opinions Bluefish, don't think anybody is being vitriolic, they just don't particularly like it. What's wrong with that?
I happen to agree with Arnie M but will keep that to myself for fear of offending.

Len brennan. Well there you go. You said on Saturday that the club will be disappointed with the sales of shirts this year. And there we go, record sales. Double the amount on 1st day from last year. And still rising. .

Carberry, I can't double-upvote that comment, which is a shame as it made me chuckle!

Very happy that people are buying the shirts, supporting the club and a very worthy charity. You're never going to please all if the people all of the time. I prefer the away to the home this year, but might end up buying the light blue/green training shirt just for a change. Can't afford to buy both and given I've bought the home shirt for last few seasons, might make a nice change to have something a bit different in the wardrobe.

Club shirts are like the wife's clothes. They are mostly great, but the odd outfit doesn't look great and you have to keep schtum or you're in for it!

In life, you will never please everyone and we all have a right to our own opinion... however, record sales do rather indicate what side the majority sit. Personally, I love everything about this club right now, the manager, the team, Mark Ashton, the owners, the ground redevelopment, the support of the MND Foundation and the local community in general (even though I live in Sussex) and I LOVE both the kits.... I really can't wait for the start of the season to see how this team gets on at Championship level.... Bring it on!

What does it matter who likes what and who doesn't. Life is all about choices so lets respect that we all have opinions. Personally I think the away shirt steals it.
Last season I didn't particularly rate the black shirt but judging by the numbers sold a lot of people did.
As Arnie says each to their own and at the end of the day we all support the same Team don't we??

This is an absolute disaster!
it looks like, for the first time ever, I'm going to have to say the words 'Fair play Blues1, you called it, it looks like you are absolutely correct.'
It's only day 3, but those are certainly more impressive sales figures than I was expecting for the new home shirt.

Some will like the new kit!
Others won't like the new kit

Some will be indifferent about the kit!!

All of them is ok you are not more or less of a supporter/fan if you buy it or not

We all have individual tastes

Tastes differ, I bought last years away one but have hardly worn it, and I love the home kit this season and thing the orange is too much on a grizzly old fan like me.
WHAT IS IMPORTANT, however, is that the shirts are driving revenue, the fans are getting on board and both club and fans are getting what they want. Revenue equals spending power and takes a bit of the pressure off the owners.
The big thing for me is that we are doing our bit, putting our money where our mouths are supporting Marcus' charity at the same time.

The club's on a crest of a wave at the moment and the sales of shirts were bound to sell well bearing in mind we now have 21,000 season ticket holders it's not rocket science. Im probably in the minority but i do prefer a collar on my shirt so i shall be buying the home shirt. Having seen the full home kit it does look better in the flesh. I quite like tangerine or orange but not as a full kit looks far better when paired with black shorts. Every body is entitled to there own opinions negative or positive if we all agreed with every thing this format would be pointless wouldn't it.

Umbro are doing a great job however, you look at it. They are really putting some thought behind the designs. I actually like the new home shirt, I just like the last one more. Also, I refuse to buy every shirt so I buy the ones I really like. My son is a growing boy, and he might need a new one! Another good thing about Umbro is that they do kits for younger kids.

Bluefish and blue 1 calm ya selves! If fans don't like the kit they don't like it! I personally! Prefer an all blue kit!
Your showing pre come again 50,000+ shirts sold last season only 8,000 so far so still a way to go! Once that figure is surpassed then you can give it some!

Amazing work by the club to raise money for MND care and research, whilst tying this in to some wonderful nostalgia as we take on the Championship once again. Not so subtle messaging that we'll attack the league like we did in 99/20.

Anyone miss when we had four designs to vote on in the paper for new the shirt? I'm happy with these ones but always enjoyed thinking we had a choice in the next season's kit.
