Charlton Athletic have joined the chase for Blues midfielder Idris El Mizouni and are among a number of clubs who have made loan approaches.

TWTD revealed in May that Derby County and Watford were keen on the Tunisian international and then earlier this month that Wycombe Wanderers - long-time admirers of the Paris-born academy product - Plymouth Argyle and Aberdeen were also showing interest.

Now, TWTD can confirm that, as reported by the EADT, the Rams, Chairboys and Addicks have all made loan approaches to the Blues regarding the 22-year-old.

El Mizouni spent 2022/23 on loan at Leyton Orient, where he saw the O’s to the League Two title and was included in the EFL’s divisional team, and was named Players’ Player and Manager’s Player of the Year.

However, despite his excellent campaign at Brisbane Road he is well back in the pecking order for a central midfield role at Portman Road.

El Mizouni is contracted to Town until the summer of 2024 with the club having an option for a further season.

He might be aswell to go back to Orient though, seeing as they are up to League 1 & he is guaranteed his preferred starting position there. Presumably they requested him back the day after they won promotion.

Europablue added 21:37 - Jun 28 I always want to give players like him a little bit of preseason to prove himself before he gets shipped out yet again. I don't really see the value of these constant loans. There has to come a point where we either give him a go in the first team or just sell him.

We're playing in a higher league, can't say seen a massive amount of him but when I have he looks tidy. Does he look like a player that could get us in championship playoffs? Not right now for me. Wish the lad all the best whatever happens.

BurleysGloryDays added 09:02 - Jun 29 Evans was our best player until he got injured, last season. I've seen a few on here that seem to have forgotten that - or maybe just didn't watch the games. Sorry WestCountry, the idea that Idris should be ahead of Evans is verging on ludicrous : )

El Mizouni needs to prove himself in league one before he can claim he's better than Evans who's also done it at championship level. Evans big problem is he gets injured rather a lot.

blues1 added 11:25 - Jun 29 Linkboy13. Right about Evans. Tho to be fair, most of the injuries he's had here have been down to bad tackles on him. So just been a bit unlucky, that they've forced him out for longer periods of time. Would be more of a concern had his injuries all been muscle pulls.

Fartman added 13:50 - Jun 29 I rather see us sell Dom Ball and Pan Camara, to be honest. Both very injury prone. El MIzouni had a great season a Leyton Orient. Better loan him out to a L1 club and see if he's another of the late bloomers.
