Ahadme Joins Cambridge On Loan
Tuesday, 27th Jun 2023 17:14

Blues striker Gassan Ahadme has joined League One Cambridge United on loan for the 2023/24 season.

Ahadme, 22, signed for Town from Burton Albion on deadline day last summer but having had limited first-team opportunities and injury problems, returned to the Brewers on loan in January.

The Spanish-born Moroccan, who is contracted until the summer of 2025 with the club having an option for a further season, has made one start - in the FA Cup tie against Buxton in which he netted his only goal for the Blues - and seven sub appearances for Town.

Ahadme's departure comes as little surprise with the one-time Norwich City youngster appearing unlikely to be involved regularly during the season ahead in the Championship. His departure frees up a space in Town's 25-man EFL squad.

Clearly a bit of a panic buy to make up the numbers. It's a shame, but he was never going to be a long-term signing. It was clear that promotion would end his opportunities with us.

Let's not write him off just yet. Let's see what he can achieve on loan. Best of luck to the lad.

OK not likely to be of use to us in the Championship but still amazes me how so many of our fans have judged him without seeing him very much . Remember Kieffer Moore many wrote him off i seem to remember . Good luck Gassan .

Good move for both player and itfc! Could do well at United! More departures are certain as we need to trim numbers before signing two or three more quality players!

I get the feeling we've given up on Gas? I don't mind Harper going but I still believe El Miz is worth sticking with…. Technically very good and can play anywhere across the middle.

Anyone suggesting he was a panic but needs to realise we weren't in the relegation zone… not every signing works out immediately or ultimately.

Monkey_Blue, he wasn't a random name plucked out of the air, but he was probably a player down the list that was considered more of a gamble.

If he's being loaned out then I can only assume he is still being considered in Town's future or we hope his value will increase for when we eventually do sell him. Same with El Miz and Harper.

good move, nice and local so it keeps him fairly settled. definitely a player in there, albeit very raw. game time can only be good for his development & reassess next summer (or jan if theres a recall) if he can help in our rise up the championship or move on for profit

Hope he does well for them, good for us if he does.

We should keep El Miz, let Harper go.

Those righting Gassan off obviously weren't at Burton away last season. Since then he's had an injury and was at the wrong end of the Hirst move. I think this will be a good for him, he's only 22 remember. As someone mentioned, a certain Mr Moore came good in the end, unfortunately not with us.

Good luck Gassan; slam dunk, back o the net for you at Cambridge 👍

He is only 22 for God sake, the loan is no reflection of his potential but merely part of his development, which may or may not see him secure a regular spot for Town, that is really up to him and how he performs.

He played well against us for Burton. We signed him. He's not worked out but we've not made many mistakes
I think we are heading into a league where athleticism will be very important - is El Miz going to cope ? Have a look and if not send off to Orient again in Div 1

El Mizouni will be assessed in training by the coaching staff to see if he has improved physically and technically. But my guess is he will go out on loan to a league one club which will be far beneficial for his development than sitting on the bench at Ipswich.

Don't get those saying we should keep El Mizouni. Yes, he's a decent player, and has had 1 good season out on loan. In lge2. But does anyone really believe he's gonna get anywhere near our 1st team? Must be about 7th in line at least. Best for all parties really, if he moves on, imo.
