Almost 24,000 Seats Sold For Burton Clash
Wednesday, 1st Mar 2023 12:03

Town have sold almost 24,000 tickets for Saturday’s game against Burton Albion at Portman Road and nearly 21,000 for the visit by Accrington Stanley next Tuesday.

The Blues will be looking for back-to-back home victories over the sides currently placed 18th and 21st in League One following on from the wins against Forest Green and the MK Dons.

Town have also sold 1,850 seats for fourth-v-third clash at Bolton Wanderers a week on Saturday.

The Blues have sold 1,300 tickets for another top of the table away game against sixth-placed Barnsley on Saturday 25th March with seats currently on sale to season ticket holders. Town have been given an initial allocation of 3,100 at Oakwell. Tickets for all those games are available here.

Great to see such continued loyalties.
I have a certain fondness for Burton, so part of me doesn't want to see a high score line, but the other part of me wants to see them thumped and us make a statement to the rest of the league with plenty of entertaining goals, which will also help our goal difference come end of season.

The club cannot grumble about the support the team are having, fantastic and we are not in an automatic promotion place.

Given Plymouth's wobble, our two wins and the closure of the gap im actually a little disappointed with this. I know we will be only getting 250 up from Burton and away capacity is 2000, but I would have expected around 26000 for this one. WE will actually have fewer fans in the ground than Plymouth and Wednesday games, now that we are charging 2nd again I was just hoping to fill our space.....

Bazza8564: I see where you are coming from, but let's hope we sell a few more before Saturday. We ought to be aiming for a least 25,000 at this stage.

we are getting to where we want to be eventually. Our support is brilliant, volume could be a bit louder and longer in games. Think we get lazy

Booked tickets earlier for the Shrewsbury home game and that is also getting very full.

Fantastic support this season, home and away!

Taking into account that this is league one and our form has been inconsistent after a good start the crowds for me have been amazing. Remember under Mick McCarthy when we were doing ok in the championship the average home crowd's were 12,500 . Also at the moment the economic climate is much tougher and not every body can afford to go to every home game.

Can't compare the attendance to the Sheffield Wed and Plymouth games, top of the table clashes are always going to attract higher support, that's inevitable, so 24,000 (presumably 25,000 perhaps by kick off tomorrow?) is a great effort in my opinion.

Minimum of 6 points required from the next two home games, in fact, for automatic to remain a possibility, I think every home game needs to be a winning one from here on out, but let's tackle each game at a time hey!
