Town Remain Second After Owls Draw
Saturday, 3rd Dec 2022 16:41

Town remain second in League One following third-placed Sheffield Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at Derby County this afternoon.

The Owls could have climbed above both the Blues and leaders Plymouth had they defeated the Rams.

Town are a point behind Argyle, who are now without a win in their last three in the league, following the Pilgrims' 2-0 defeat to Port Vale last night, their first league loss at Home Park this season. The Owls are a further point behind Town.

The Blues are next in action at home to sixth-placed Peterborough United next Saturday (KO 12.30pm).

Not as bad as it could have been, but now we need to win some tough matches to keep with the pace.

Perhaps we could develop a 'moaning page' for all those with negative thoughts?

We are still second, all teams drop points during the season, we are doing well and we haven't suddenly become a rubbish side!!

Cheer up Town fans, when has it ever been easy to be a Town fan, we are going up and we will do it, it just might from time to time be a bit panful on the journey. Keep the faith.

This season won't really get going until we get into January...I have a feeling a number of clubs will bunch up at the top.

Algarvefan we already have a moaning page, it's the match report page after we draw or lose.

No real harm done then, but it was a real chance to put one over on our rivals at the top.

I love our manager but I'm afraid I'm putting last night down to him. Why re resorted to all the time-wasting stuff that we hate so much when teams do it to us baffles me. There is enough skill in the side to look for a second goal rather than hang on like that

Onwards and upwards against Posh next week

Algarvfan! You are the worst kind of supporter we could have!
If the town play rubbish and continually throw away points nobody is allowed to be critical??

Being rightly worried and concerned about regularly dropping points against chit teams is a concern and not being negative ya bellend!

Everybody is entitled to sing praises or moan - that's a right. We will not always agree with each other's opinions.

But there is no excuse at all for name calling / offensive comments.

Can we keep this in perspective and get behind the team. One point off the top - I think we would all have taken that at this point in the season after last year. Ok years.

@ churchmans
You don't need to be offensive, especially to fellow town supporters. YOU are the one who is "the worst kind of supporter".
@algarvefan
You are correct. I haven't commented on here for so long but have been reading the articles and comments. It's often an embarrassment the way people on here shout "we're going up" after a win, but when we drop points they slag off players and talk as if we're going down. They think they can pick the team themselves, want certain players who didn't perform to be dropped, etc, etc. It's shameful. I don't recall a single team in history winning every game in a season, and we will drop more points as the season progresses. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. Now (as it stands) there's a three-horse race for promotion. Very exciting if you ask me, and I'll take the positives - we gained a point on Plymouth yesterday, and Sheffield Wednesday also did not capitalise on other results.

Rubbish! If supporters want to highlight the lows and highs they can! Who the hell is he to label supporters who do this as moaners!
Get a grip!! I'm sure algarv won't be hurt or upset Jesus!!!
To many woke police on here

OK maybe it was uncalled for!

@churchmans
There's a difference between highlighting the highs and lows and utter pessimism, name calling, and everything else that goes with.
Please look up the meaning of the word "supporter" and start getting behind the team as one, because many on here are only part time supporters - it's dependent on whether we gain three points or not.
Goodnight.

BangaloreBlues - so why is it okay for some on here to call those fans names who are critical after a poor performance then???

And you're okay with us regularly throwing points away of late are you? You call that supporting?

Yes bangalore I did look up the word 'supporter' and it said CHURCHMANS
lol
I'm just wondering how many more words will be added to the offended/offensive list

there's still time to sort this out fortunately but is McK willing to see that ultimately the buck stops with him?

Anybody would think we're fighting relegation, we're 2nd in the league lost one game in the league in ages, anybody forget the last few years, I've had a lousy weekend since Friday night luckily I didn't smash the TVin the 96th minute another unsavable fluke, Saturday pm arrives and woopy doo SWeds, could only draw even Brazil lost smile is back, anybody checked the injury list lately

johnwarksshorts added 11:46 - Dec 4
Hyperbrit sort what out exactly? 2nd in league, lost once, all with a sizable injury list, new players in January. McKenna can't legislate for a freaky goal like that. If we keep doing what we are doing then we'll be ok. Get behind the team.

AlanG296 added 12:07 - Dec 4
It's a missed opportunity with Plymouth slipping up and the 5th game at home in 10 that we've failed to win. Appreciate that's OK with those that don't attend home games or have low expectations.

Yes, we are doing well as we are in second place.

Yes, we have a good manager (albeit one in his first managerial job).

However, things could, and should, be even better. If we had won on Friday we would be top; surely that is where all Town supporters want to be? The difficulty is that we keep dropping points at home against mid and low table opposition. I know that these sides come to defend en masse, but we have to be able to break them down. If that means being tactically more flexible (e.g. putting a big lump up front and going a bit longer) then so be it.

Hopefully lessons learned. Having a couple of L2 standard forwards on the bench and hoping they will get goals being 1st lesson.

It's become very obvious that one can't offer any criticism on here without being personally abused. It echoes the world we live in I'm afraid. Best just not to post, as it seems you're only welcome on here if you accept and cheer everything, willy nilly,

Nomore4 added 13:43 - Dec 4
KMCblue. Offering comments such as Gassan Ahadme will be our no1 striker will attract criticism.
He's scored 11 goals to date over the previous 4+ seasons. His scoring record makes Jackson's look impressive…….22 goals over 4+ seasons. Which is an abysmal total. Both not good enough.

brittaniaman added 14:22 - Dec 4
When we look how we lost 4pts. in a few Injury time minutes, it is critical, because we would have been comfortably ahead at the top. Instead now we have Wednesday breathing down our necks.

Just watched Wycombe Portsmouth. The former will present more problems than the latter over the next few weeks. Mehmeti Grimmer McCkeary all look Championship material and with Sam Vokes off the bench Wycombe looks a toughie. I would get my cheque book for Mehmeti.
