Town Remain Second After Owls Draw
Saturday, 3rd Dec 2022 16:41

Town remain second in League One following third-placed Sheffield Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at Derby County this afternoon.

The Owls could have climbed above both the Blues and leaders Plymouth had they defeated the Rams.

Town are a point behind Argyle, who are now without a win in their last three in the league, following the Pilgrims' 2-0 defeat to Port Vale last night, their first league loss at Home Park this season. The Owls are a further point behind Town.

The Blues are next in action at home to sixth-placed Peterborough United next Saturday (KO 12.30pm).

I think we're all getting edgy: I definitely am lol. Us fans are ALL passionate about this Club and we are all desperate for some success ( promotion) . We've had 2decades of utter shyte and now is our time, but it's not a certainty that we will achieve our goal. It's so close we can taste it, yet we all fear the worst , which brings out the tetchy responses . I'm just as guilty with this. It's what fear of failure does to you. The gloating from up the road ( we all know they are waiting and praying we fail this season). But as Ashton has said , we must stick together . So come on , let's do this in the way we Town fans do best - making a bloody noise at PR and away grounds. 👊

Was at the game Friday, and i was gutted to concede so late on. But the teams around us didn't gain anything so not a disaster. Very long way to go, but fully believe we can do it. Coyb

ArnieM. Your post is bang on 100% we have to believe we can do it, but we have been burnt many times. Really think we will though!

I think Wednesday are pretty much nailed on for promotion via the top two. That leaves one place to fight for - probably with Plymouth. It won't be a smooth ride, but then it won't be for our rivals either. Much can happen from January to May. We could and should do it. We must keep the faith and continue to get behind the manager and the team.

One of the first comments here absolutely has a point. Yes it's been frustrating to throw away the points we have, but when you think how the last 3 seasons have gone this is still magnitudes better than any of those seasons. The bright side is we know we can be doing better, and are still in 2nd!

Once again it shines through that far from all ITFC Supporters are ambitious, and are just prepared to accept second best.
We are a Big Fish in a Small Pool - and the reason is in part due go the above … !!!
Far too many Supporters do not expect enough, hence falling from grace year on year has become the accepted norm' - and that's what we've done.
FA Cup Winners, UEFA Cup Winners, and more, 25,000 crowds, and we are in EFL DIVISION 3.
Not good enough ! - we are in opposition with Teams of a fifth of our Home Support … !!!
And some will still ‘accept' Division 3 next season - and blame injuries - AGAIN !!!

The biggest reason for the decline was Evans, and you were very much a fan of Evans forever calling out bluearmy telling him to find new owners for the club!

It's not people accepting 2nd best, it's realistic supporters knowing that the mess left by your beloved Evans isn't going to be corrected overnight! We are a better team than when KM took over 12 months ago and in 12 months we will be better than we are now!

Well said dissboy, Evans really did run this club into the ground, and relegated us to league 1 due to years of neglect in so many ways. I'm happy with our rapid improvement under McKenna and the new owners.

blue86 …. IF you prove to be right, then it's been long enough coming - but your words are somewhat hollow at the moment, unless we buck up at Home particularly.
We'll see where we all are in May, as to if we've made progress - Remember we've been where we are now BEFORE, and finished Mid Table, and not on the odd occasion either.
Wherever we are in May 23, I'll be on here ready, willing, and able to accept I was wrong.
But will YOU and Dissboyitfc, if you prove to br wrong ?
And as for Evans, he oversaw a huge demise of the Club - but it is highly debatable as to if he actually saved our Club from complete oblivion, don't forget or discount that … !!!

Let's face it - our Home record in terms of results thus far, is anything but impressive for a Team supposedly serious Promotion prospects.
This HAS to change post NOW - otherwise the overhaul from over the shoulder will happen, and yet another season will drift away.
And Guess What ? - Injuries will get the blame again !!
ALL CLUBS HAVE INJURIES - not just US !!
Many do not have the resources we have either to overcome them, so let's not hear anymore of that lame excuse.

Who's blaming injuries? We have a lot more about us this season compared to others reasons !
And if we don't get promoted at least I will have enjoyed my season watching town home and away, words also being used by some of the best players in the history of ITFC!

Out of interest how do you feel the supporters should handle this awful situation at Portman rd? I mean 1 point off top is dreadful as is the entertainment factor and don't get me started on our shocking away form or the ground improvements! The new pitch will be awful! With nothing to enjoy or look forward to what are your suggestions to remedy this awful takeover? Pitch demonstrations! Replace the manager, who would you like in, Pep maybe?

Me personally I intend to enjoy the ride and the feel good factor, lots of improvements still to come, but come they will!

Blueboy - I will happily admit if I'm wrong, but my gut feeling from how the season is going is we will be top two. Will you admit if you're wrong? What's for dinner at Xmas with you and scrooge mcevans lol 😆
