Simpson Huddersfield Deal Closer
Monday, 22nd Aug 2022 10:33

Striker Tyreece Simpson’s move to Huddersfield Town is getting closer to completion.

Reports over the weekend indicated that the clubs have agreed a fee, however, TWTD understands the deal is not yet done but is getting closer with personal terms under discussion.

Earlier this month, we reported that the 20-year-old was set to join the Terriers with discussions between the clubs having been ongoing for some weeks.

Towards the end of last season, Simpson, who scored 11 goals during a successful loan spell at Swindon in the first half of 2021/22, told the Blues he wanted to move on this summer having turned down the offer of a new contract in January.

In May, Town took up a one-year option on his previous deal in order to secure a fee which was likely to be higher than the training compensation they would otherwise have received.

Luton, Peterborough, Middlesbrough and Barnsley all showed interest during the close season and Town turned down a number of offers for the academy product with clubs not matching their asking price which was understood to be £600,000.

Simpson made two senior starts and five sub appearances for the Blues without scoring. This season the frontman hasn't featured for Town at any level.

Upthetown Sorry, got my figures wrong. Nadaba was 5th in line before we signed keogh, so would have now been 6th in line

MattinLondon I don't what he thinks he's doing. He wouldn't have played for us this year except occasionally off the bench or probably he'd be sent out on loan. He probably won't play in the Championship this year, probably be loaned out to a top league 2 team or lower league 1 team.

caught up with a friend of mine who's son plays at swindon with him. saw every game obviously. Not good enough was the conclusion . We need championship players if thats where we are going , not ones barely good enough for league 2 . Move on !!!!

Linkboy13 Tyreece John Jules is too good for League 1, he would probably stay on loan with us next year if we get promoted.

Just a reminder to people who obviously don't know any better - but the Lad has already proved he CAN score Goals - and he WILL continue to do so, played to his strengths !
Just watch him when he gets his move.

Blues 1 proves the point of Ipswich blocking pathways into the first team with Ndaba as the example. What choice does a young player have then but to leave. My point exactly.
None of the young players you mention are anywhere near the first team, that's my point they should be which shows a pathway to the first team.

This Clubs most successful times were always with a pathway for Young Players to progress into the First Team - this hasn't been maintained, or the case, for far too long now.
If such cannot be achieved playing in our (almost rooted) level of Division 3, and be successful - Then when can it … ???

Nothing wrong with the loan system didn't do Downes and Wolfenden any harm. They buckled down worked hard and earned the right to extend their careers at Ipswich. If Ndaba does the same at Burton he will come back much better for it, much better than sitting on the bench at Ipswich or playing low grade football for the u21s. It's a bit sad when we have to take young players from other clubs because ours are not up to it but that's the reality im afraid. All im interested in is the bigger picture and Kieron McKenna in my opinion is doing a superb job. As for Keiron Dyer storming off in a sulk because he's not getting his own way who cares COYB.

it would be nice if humphries was involved more with the squad and on the bench , when i saw harper on the bench first game instead of cameron that was a tad disappointing, same re edwards still done very little since we signed him but he gets on the bench, young cameron done more against charlton in 15 mins than these boys have done since we signed them, george burley clearly rates him listening to him last week as he can unlock a defence, his decision making is a step above edwards/harper for me already. so if this is based on physical attributes that is a shame tbh.

Bottom line here is that the club are showing they will not be pushed around by a player who, undoubtedly encouraged by an agent looking for a pay day, seems to think he's arrived after half a season at League 2 Swindon!

Sets a decent marker for future negotiations with other players in the future.

Eventually the cream come to the top. Were a league one side with some reasonable young talent. Not a lot of good talent but the promising ones are loned out to gain experience and then come back to see if they are good enough. This lad imo is not good enough but he could go on to have a good career and i wish him well. We must look at the bigger picture. Culture. Ambition. Character then decide if a player can make it. Sometimes the club can be wrong but not very often. A path to the 1st team is there if you work hard and is Good enough so good luck to all our young lads work hard play your best and who knows what will happen. Lets trust the process and remember were lesgue one fighting championship and premiere clubs for young lads. Every now and then we'll get one or two that they have missed. Coyb💙

Good luck to the lad, but still feel he's been badly advised and could be making a mistake, but let's see.

Hopefully, his sale allows a permanent addition to join the squad.

Just a Reminder to the Pigott knockers - he's scoring Goals elsewhere, and being ‘played to his strengths' …. !!!

Put in a cheeky bid with Arsenal for John-Jules with the money generated. After that goal against Shrewsbury he could be the Maradona of league 1.

People keep mentioning Dyer, he was a great player and I have the upmost respect for him but can we really believe this guy was unequivocally standing up for the youth of the club and not remotely bitter about his position or lack of in the clubs management team?

I hate seeing youngsters go and we should learn from the past mistakes; However, the clubs integrity and strategy far outweighs individual egos and visions.

Id love to see Simpson in and around the squad as I think he offers something we perhaps don't yet have in our arsenal, yet, I wish him luck, lets not take it personally, its business.

The club is in the best position it has been in for 2 decades, lets bloody well enjoy the ride lads.

I think at a meeting last year Mr Ashton nobody was going to dictate to him how he runs the club and that of course includes agents-----I think the boy has been very badly advised but wish him well.

Its a new Era - I trust Ashton and McKenna to make the right decision
Its not a short sighted Evans and a struggling short term manager

Not sure how Dyer is “sulking”….a compassionate, switched on and highly driven individual who deeply cared about his job, his club and charges…he wanted the best for the young players…he made clear he wasn't aligned to the club position on pathways and resigned …with good conduct and head held high. Yes emotive but hugely passionate. His points about pathways remains. Recent evidence is Liam Gibbs starting for Norwich at the weekend….I want the club to do everything in the power to make sure that that cannot happen again…I accept they cannot control everything but I hope that the loans and current pathway policies are clear to the younger players

Bluefox we're in league one you do realise that right? We're not necessarily an attractive proposition for some now and understandably if they want to move on higher they will. Comparing us to Norwich as well is daft they will keep their youngsters as they play premier league footy every other season. The lack of action in our own patch has contributed to the fact our youth set up has warned considerably and for the four players you mention how many 10's to 100's haven't been good enough and now in non league or league two? The fact we've played the likes of Dozzell and Downes in the side says we have at least been successful with those two as they're playing higher regarding Gibbs unfortunately he was offered a contract under evans tenure which wasn't accepted then he heard absolutely nothing as evans was selling the club so by the time the new owners came in it was too late

Also bluefox a lot of the reason we haven't brought through any real successful kids is because Norwich have over taken out patch even Ashton said this recently that a school in the middle of Ipswich had Norwich reps there but none from Ipswich and again this was during EVANS tenure which ashton intends on changing and has brought in people from Norwich for that exact reason
