Crewe Boss Launches Bizarre Attack on Town
Friday, 16th Aug 2019 13:56

Crewe manager David Artell has launched a bizarre attack on Town for agreeing to pay Colchester £500,000 for Kane Vincent-Young rather than making a move for Alex right-back Perry Ng, who he believes is the best player in that position in League Two.

“I've seen this morning that Ipswich have bid half-a-million quid for Kane Vincent-Young at Colchester,” Artell told Cheshire Live.

"So whoever is doing Ipswich's recruitment they should give him his P45, because he's missed out on the best right-back in the league.

"Whether it's just because it is down the road and there's press and hype from the local media I don't know, but I'm delighted they've gone for him because they've missed out on the best right back in League Two."

He added: "It's not just one though, I can think of four or five [Crewe players] off the top of my head that are ready and primed and can quite easily go on.”

Liverpool-born Ng, 23, came through the youth system at Gresty Road, breaking into their first team in 2015/16. Last season he won Crewe's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards.

As reported earlier, Vincent-Young is at Town today but with his move from the U's not expected to be completed until over the weekend or on Monday.

Maybe we should snap up Ng on the cheap now to shut this clown up.

Screams of desperation from this bloke. Obviously has his eye or someone and can't afford without selling. But if they have 4-5 it could be worth a look?

Ok. Two Thoughts:

1: If he's so good and seemingly not that expensive - why has nobody else snaffled him up.

2: Vincent-Young had a trial here so will be known to several of the staff and players- they will know his ability and his character. Surely that's better than signing a seemily completely unknown quantity?

Hmm...the deal for Vincent-Young is expected to be "completed over the weekend or on Monday". Shall I presume Mr Evans is away?
Maybe we will be back for Ng.

Interestingly, I spoke to the Colchester Asst Chairman today (he's a mate) who suggested that Vincent-Young is not only a very good player but is worth a lot more than the £500k we've paid. The only reason that they couldn't raise more for him was because they're a 2nd division club and that limits the potential value of any of their players.

He also said there were many clubs in for him but he chose Ipswich.

LondonBlue. Luton received several £5m bids for there players while in L2.
Even turning down £10m plus for there top scorer.
Does being in L1 or L2 make any difference?
A players worth what someone's willing to pay, not what level there playing at.

We should have listened to you, David. £500 grand spent on a walking injury.
