Judge Signs New Town Deal
Friday, 5th Apr 2019 13:15

Town have confirmed that Alan Judge has signed his new contract, which as previously reported runs to the summer of 2021 with the deal having an option for a further year.

“It’s great news for the club that we have Judgey signed up,” boss Paul Lambert told the club site. “The supporters have taken to him and his quality is clear to see.

“I know he wants to play for Ireland as well so playing games regularly here can only help in that respect.”

The 30-year-old joined the Blues on a short-term contract in January for a nominal fee from Brentford.

That deal included an option for a further season, however, discussions regarding a longer extension have been ongoing for a number of weeks.

Since signing, the Republic of Ireland international has become a key player as Lambert has sought to instil his passing style in his team and confirmation that the Dubliner will be at Portman Road will be a big boost for supporters ahead of what will almost certainly be a 2019/20 campaign in League One.

Great news. The one loan player that must be signed now is Keane. There is experience and potential at the back and in midfield.

Keane has the necessary quality up front and provides a target when necessary. With a pre-season and regular starts, he can make all the difference. Harrison and Jackson will be very good back up in League 1.

Amazing how we have persuaded a player who could walk into most championship teams to come with us to the division below. We'll done to all at the club that made this happen. Didn't realise relagation was such an exciting prospect.

This is nothing short of immense! Great quality, great experience, great positivity that he wanted to sign for the club and the manager largely due to playing style. He can't have been cheap either which gives me hope we might hang on to everyone we want to next season! I've given the owner a (deserved) kicking before but I hold my hands up and congratulate him on this one.
I know what people are saying about Keane - I like him as a player and from what i've seen of his attitude as well, but we have a bad enough track record as it is without adding him to the permanent ranks - don't want another Huws situation!

THE best permanent signing we've made in many many years. He will dictate most games next year and withthe likes of Lankaster, Downes etc learning from him I have high hopes. We do and will still need that marquee striker next season to worry those defences so must invest in that area.
