Wimbledon Striker Linked With Town and Burton
Wednesday, 28th Mar 2018 10:02

AFC Wimbledon frontman Lyle Taylor is reported to be a summer target of the Blues and Burton Albion.

According to the Daily Mirror, Town and the Brewers will target the 27-year-old when he comes out of contract at the end of the season.

Taylor started his professional career with Millwall but moved on before making a senior appearance for the Lions, having spent time on loan with Eastbourne and Croydon Athletic.

After a spell with Concord Rangers, the Londoner, who has won three caps for Monserrat, scoring three goals, joined Bournemouth in 2010.

In addition to his first league appearances, Taylor also had stints on loan with Lewes, Hereford United and Woking while a Cherries player.

In 2012 he moved on to Falkirk, then a year later joined Sheffield United before a loan spell with Partick Thistle.

Scunthorpe was his next destination before another loan at Partick Thistle and then a permanent switch to Wimbledon in July 2015.

While with the Dons, who he helped to win the League Two play-offs in 2015/16 when he netted in the final, Taylor has scored 53 goals in 125 starts and 17 sub appearances with 16 of those goals this season.

With the identity of next season’s Town manager still to be confirmed, any speculation regarding summer targets should be taken with a pinch of salt.

So your last paragraph pretty much tells us that this story isn't even worth reading!!

Meant to be decent, quite a pact and physical player. Has proven himself over the last couple of years. Why not.

Hmmm yet another piece of news that would *STRONGLY* suggest that our dreaded dino 'Mick The Nick' is staying put, isn't it??? lol .
Or perhaps the TWTD crew should preferably call up Mowbray, McClaren, Steijn and whoever else supposedly is on that ehhh by the day more & more MYTHICAL sounding "new managerial short list" of Marvelous Marcus ...and ask any of THEM managers on said list whether they really fancy this 188 cm tall 27 year old Montserraterian in an Ipswich shirt! :-) :-) :-) :-)

PS: About Mr. Taylor the player, well I actually happen to see him in action on Saturday! as I watched a stream of about the final 60 minutes of Shrewsbury vs. Wimbledon.
In fact he looked just like someone 'Mick The Nick' would fancy!!! ...I.E. very 'Proper Blokish' lol ...in the sense that he clearly appeared to be of the Grinding type, hard working & constantly chasing up front.
HOWEVER, as we all know the jump from League 1 to the Championship can be quite steep for some, and personally I was not at all convinced that the granted fairly physically impressive performance from Saturday -- and despite 44 goals (126 games) for Wimbledon during the last 3 seasons of which only 22 goals (81 games) were in League 1 -- makes it a given that he can 'cut it' here in the visibly tougher Championship.

BlueHarwich: A bit harsh, it's only a story! No need to be rude or negative?

BlueHarwich: This story is surely as valid as any other piece of speculation.
Perhaps a scout has recommended him & the powers that be (possibly including MM) have rightly taken an interest. Surely it is avisable to be as prepared as possible for when a new manager comes in and be ready to move should he agree on Taylor.
Perhaps McCarthy is staying (gulp!) and he is moving early on a free transfer target. To be fair to him, his record with low cost transfers is not the reason many fans want him out.
Or perhaps McCarthy is being a professional and still working to bring players to the club despite knowing that he won't be here next season to work with him.
The last paragraph is the type of disclaimer that could be applied to 90% of stories around possible future transfers. I'm more than happy that TWTD report on them when they concern Ipswich Town; even when they ultimately turn out ot be nothing more than spin from an agent trying to drum up interest in a player.

Len Brennan.....surely the pint is if it is a Mick signing then we want little do do with them..esp if he isn't nit going to be here next year . if it was an exciting 17-19yr old that the academy and our scouts had recommended worth a pursuing .....but a 27yr old that probably will fit into a MM style of play .....avoid at all costs ....it's his dreadful style football and how he treats fans that he has to go for why would we keep, listening ??

No chance of getting him if we are up against the likes of Burton

No way this is happening, 27, couldn't make it at Bournemouth when they were crap nor Shef U and has bounced round numerous where the hell is that clubs. Cant see him anywhere near us or Burton.

Paper nonesene. If Mick stays is Garns and Waggy if he goes it depends on who comes in. We may need to replace MCG but even Mick isn't going to that with this fella

watched Shrews v Wimbledon at the weekend. This guy is not a MM player. Lightweight, casual, flicks and tricks but not much end product, didnt look like scoring either.
