Chambers: Three Stars on Our Shirts
Wednesday, 18th Oct 2017 16:58

Skipper Luke Chambers has responded to Norwich striker Nelson Oliveira’s weekend claims that the Canaries are “a better club” than Town by pointing out the three stars above the Blues' badge, indicating the League Championship trophy, FA Cup and UEFA Cup which have occupied the Portman Road trophy cabinet, and suggesting the Portuguese frontman is “obviously not very well educated”.

Oliveira made the comments at the weekend after scoring Norwich’s equaliser during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Hull City at Carrow Road.

“These are things that you take with a pinch of salt and you can’t let the occasion get to you,” Chambers told iFollow Ipswich when quizzed on Oliveira’s comments.

“I’m sure there’ll be a few words exchanged on Sunday and it’s a battle that we’re definitely looking forward to.”

He added: “The type of person that said it, you can’t really take too much that comes out of their mouth [seriously], they’re obviously not very well educated.

“I think there are three stars above the Ipswich crest on our shirts. It’s something that adds a little bit extra.

“But knowing the guy and playing against him numerous times, he’s always got a lot to say for himself. We’ll look forward to it on Sunday.”

There should be a 4th star for a cerain world cup. At the end of the day 3 stars for winning stuff vs what might have been a milk cup final.

Love to see Chambo smash a 90th min winner run to the fans and point those 3 stars.

The Bayern team that Naaarwich beat wasn't even one of the better Bayern teams. It was, after all, the UEFA Cup and a really good Bayern team would've been in the European Cup/ Champions League.

Norwich only have an old milk bottle in their cabinet, the milk inside is obviously very sour.

Can the carrot crunchers ever claim to have fielded a team of 10 internationals only 10 as poor old cooper had no chance with Clemence and Shilton at their prime.

"There's three stars..."....

Correction: "There are three stars...."

Anyway, grammatical issue aside, that's a classy response from a great captain.

Roll on Saturday!

Sadly there are some really pathetic & nasty comments re smashing Oiviera. He seems to have got the result he wanted. We all know and budgie supporters know we have a far greater history than them in as much as trophies, time in Europe etc, shouldn't we just ignore comments from the oppoition & look down on them & hope we play them off the field on Sunday. Unfortunately I can see Chambers getting wound up, ( a payer I've never really rated but one of the dork's favourites) & possibly getting a red. Would love to see Tommy Smith back in the starting ine up but don't see him being in MM's long term plans somehow.

This is a must win match. We always seem to meet them when we have been on a poor run and they on a good run. Mick please play an attacking line up. Waghorn and co could slaughter this Canary outfit given the chance. Dolly who?!

Everybody before me has mentioned all the trophy's we have won except one the 'Texaco Cup' lol.Now who did we beat?

When Norwich won the Milk Cup,think it was in its infancy, with a lot of teams not bothering to enter.Didn't they beat someone like Rotherham ?

However all this is in the distant past;so we must beat them on Sunday to regain the bragging rights, which we have not had for the last 7 or 8 years !

Hoping that McCarthy's team is set up to attack the opposition, and includes Bersant Celina.

Maybe this could be the theme of a song - particular to the Club, not three lions are our shirt, 'but three stars on our shirt' and directed at The Norwich. Sunday would be a good time to star.

Also beat Ac Milan at home and a good Feyenoord side too.

Tough game, but not utterly impossible.

Be fantastic next season them minus parachute payments. OOOHHHHHH YES.
