Town Linked With Move for Rangers Striker
Wednesday, 24th May 2017 00:57

Town have been linked with a move for Rangers striker Joe Garner.

According the Daily Express, the Blues are ready to make a £500,000 approach for the 29-year-old.

Garner, who moved to Ibrox from Preston for £1.4 million last summer when TWTD understands Town were also keen, is said to be in Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha’s plans, however, he might be tempted to sell as he looks to raise cash in order to rebuild his squad during the close season.

Reports elsewhere claim the Glasgow giants have circulated a list of available players to clubs in England.

Former England U16, U17 and U19 international Garner scored 10 goals in 22 starts and 12 sub appearances during 2016/17 having signed a three-year deal.

Garner started his career with his hometown club Blackburn Rovers but was unable to break into the first team prior to moving on to Carlisle, initially on loan, then Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield (loan), Scunthorpe (loan), Watford and Carlisle for a further loan spell before joining Preston in 2013.

While with the Lilywhites the 5ft 10in tall frontman scored a 20-minute second-half hat-trick as the Lancastrians beat the Blues 3-2 in an FA Cup third round replay at Deepdale in January 2014.

The following season Garner won the League One Player of the Year award as he helped Preston into the Championship via the play-offs.

Na mate I didn't bother reading your response back then, and to claim I have some form of dyslexia just proves your narrow minded views on people. Do you honestly believe I have some sort of dislecksia lol. So yet again you're "jumping the gun," so to speak, has lead you to the wrong conclusions again.
I apologise for me pointing out that you was carrying out defending yourself, was the same as what mick was doing. Yet you verbally assassinated him for it, so I point out you've contradicted yourself and you wrote a novel over it. So I apologise if you felt that way, no offence intended, quite clearly there was so I apologise. Btw your grammar and punctuation isn't always 100%. I know mine isn't.

Wtf is going on here, Captain dirtydingus and his very limp like posse of anti MZT'ers is building a wee head of steam (lol) and some rather weak looking little lemming types are jumping on that very bandwagon. Message to those very LIMP and NUMBNUTS types! it's not a good look what you are doing fellas or LASSES, and you ain't coming across very well, mob/posse mentality don't do it for me.
MZT, you bring something quite unique to this site and you can always count on
me to back you up fella, as I enjoy your very long, content & detailed ladden posts, not to mention the humour which I for one personally GET!!!

I really feel sorry for Mick McCarthy. He's doing the best job he can with what he's got. After reading some of your comments on here he can't win. He signs someone on loan you moan, he signs someone for free you moan and now he's spending money you're still moaning. Stop criticising and get behind the team. Thats why we finished so low because of you lot. So thanks guys, you nearly got us relegated

Jamesblue91, who on here picked the team, who on here dictated the tactics used, who on here chose who and when to substitute players? They are the reasons we flirted with relegation, they are the reasons there is so much disillusion with the club and MM, they are the reasons season ticket sales have fallen, not the crowd or people who post on here.

grumpyoldman, Mick did the best job he could with what he had. I'm sorry but the fans have to take some responsibility for the poor season.

also grumpyoldman, I think its more down to the fans this season because if someone tells you week after week that you are crap at your job then your morale is going to drop massively which is what happened to us this season

@medwaytractor

Hello there Medway.... have we met already??? lol
...in this here present cycle of reincarnation or perhaps a previous one? :-)
Hmmm you wouldn't by any chance happen to be my grudge-bearing & conniving ex-Mother In Law would you now? :-)

Anyway I want to firstly let you know of an apparent oversight on your part, as you appear to have "forgotten" to downvote my original post on this article. You see that's the Focal One, or 'Le Culprit'! (if you prefer it in French ... or simply perhaps with relations to the above allured to possible previous eons old reincarnation form :-), it's etymology just happens to be strongly 'Old French': cul + prest), and secondly would you be so kind to explain to myself and also @PJewellIsaG actually why on Earth you in PARTICULAR -- be it for mere compulsively driven "reasons" or whatever! say like for instance you simply couldn't bear that any of my posts here temporarily had a positive voting count perhaps? LOL! -- also downvoted that of my posts here addressed specifically to him i.e. @PJewellIsaG?????????

@leahcar88

Fair enough Leah, ....mostly! :-), as it not only saddens me a bit that you didn't even quote "bother" to read my harsh but fair & non-antagonistic & 100% earnest original reply or 'Self-Defense' rather! to you earlier this year, but also with regard to the Dino MCarthy I will vehemently let it be known that **OBVIOUSLY** I don't occasionally quote "slaughter" him as you so delightfully call it for merely defending himself (which is his right & prerogative just as it is anyone else's) but rather for his about 8 times out of 10 not only imho often embarrassingly poor argumentation but just over-shadowing over-all equal parts shameful equal parts immature (in the eyes of many fans!) way he goes about The Business of Defending himself & his continuing "merry" employment at ITFC: I.E. ultra ultra **DELUDED** (and I trust this word unlike the above one need no introduction to anyone whatsoever!) + as good as always absolutely doused in an crystal clear **PATHOLOGICAL OBSESSION** WITH ALWAYS PADDING HIMSELF ON THE BACK, FOR PREDOMINANTLY SELF-PERCEIVED FORMER "MERITS" WITHIN THE GAME OF FOOTBALL and this despite these so called "merits" of his in particular often being to a sizable degree **irrelevant** and/or outright obsolete! in a present perspective ...or simply with relation to the subject & questions being posed to him!

But good to hear your counter & side plus rather atypically for this place: simply elaborated views .... and oh apology accepted "of course"!!! All smiling now, as I watch the proverbial 'water' flow under the bridge.

@cat

I have absolutely nothing, repeat nothing, to say to you my truly good man! :-) ..........
as nooooo words of any kind seems A) neither basically necessary here! and B) nor sufficiently could cover my real heartfelt appreciation anyways!

And finally to @EVERYONE in the 'Anti-Regime' camp!

Alex Bruce is a free agent this summer. What do you guys think? Would you have him back? I personally would.

Jamesblue91 if that was MMs best it was not good enough, simple. Also if the people who pay my wage continually tell me I am not doing my job right I would look for another one, for my own self respect

.......... amazing how in some peoples eyes every player the Club seems to be interested in - is a star player !!!!!

Maybe a little more interest would be best placed in the players record - this one is non too impressive, bit of a journeyman too.

But, of course, he would come cheap - therefore fits the ME / MM criteria - never mind the record, or ability.

......... do we really need (or indeed have) a scouting system ? -when all an agent has to do is call Portman Road with a has been, never was, never will be, freebie, or a cheapie on their books - and a commission is almost guaranteed for them.

Great Times ? ........... only for some, not me.

No surprise today's latest - Preston are planning a £500,000 bid for striker Joe Garner, who left them for Rangers last summer for three times that amount. (Daily Record)
