Milne: Stay With Mick
Wednesday, 18th Jan 2017 10:54

Town MD Ian Milne has urged fans to “stay with” manager Mick McCarthy and his team, despite last night’s humiliating FA Cup exit at Lincoln City.

Supporters have reacted angrily to the 1-0 defeat at Sincil Bank, only the Blues' second FA Cup defeat to non-league opposition since they joined the Football League, Peterborough United having won 3-2 in the third round at Portman Road in 1960.

In a statement to BBC Suffolk, Milne said: "Over the two matches Lincoln City were clearly the better organised team. That resulted in them deserving to win and we should, and have, congratulated them.

"We clearly did not perform to the standard we can do and an example of that is the good win we got against Blackburn last Saturday.

"However, nobody in the squad takes any pleasure in producing that type of football in front of our great away fans or indeed to the wider television audience.

"As usual Mick had been honest in his after-match comments and I have nothing to add to that regarding the game.

"I would add that over the last few days we have added players to the squad and we have bids in for others.

"So in these difficult times we would ask our fans to stay with Mick and the boys as we make improvements to the squad and get our injured players match fit, as our aim is to return to winning, entertaining football as we started to do against Blackburn."

I cannot believe I have just logged to see this!!! It beggars belief that he still hasn't been sacked!!! But to then read this idiot Milne asking us to back him?!?! Is he some kind of moron??!

I will NOT be backing MM, he has completely lost the fans, I suspect he's lost the players, (based on last nights performance, although it's been obvious to see cracks for some time)

The lack of "proper" investment is now blindingly obvious to the whole nation.

Evans how about this for a 5 point plan:
1. SACK MCCARTHY
2. APPOINT A YOUNG CREATIVE MANAGER
3. GIVE HIM A SERIOUS TRANSFER KITTY TO IMPROVE THE SQUAD
4. GET RID OF THE DEADWOOD IN THE SQUAD
5. STOP TAKING THE FANS FOR IDIOTS

Intelligent people running the club have drawn a financial line. They are not listening.

Does this businessman and his boss not realise they have lost a generation of fans, the future of the club.
What 7-8 year old wants to go to school week in week out having the pi$$ taken out of them because they support ITFC.
This entire management team must be removed, look at our next 8 games, we're gonna be in a relegation dogfight. You sir are just a clueless mouthpiece for an owner who clearly regrets buying the club.

Absolutely No, this statement only serves to emphasise just how out of touch the club is from its fan base. Amazing.

Have no faith in you (Milne) and MM!
On this performance and trend in investment (lack of) over recent seasons, we look destined for obscurity in the low leagues and will undoubtedly pass Lincoln on the way up.
Time to decide Mr Evans - invest or divest your interests in this club!
We want this club to be entertaining and great once more!

Not wanting to make a knee jerk comment I have thought long and carefully about this...MM OUT !!

Its not just because we lost a game..that happens and fans learn to live with it but...it is about the quality of football that we have to watch under MM.
Contrary to MM comments we do know what we are talking about and the comments by Jermaine Jenas , Terry Butcher and Alex Mathie on TV last night only served to underline exactly what we fans have been saying for some time now. We just dont want to watch that kind of football..yes MM did help us and we should be grateful for that but he does not have a progressive attitude to coaching and moving us forward.
It aint difficult..just get the players to pass to the same colour shirts they are wearing ...that's pass not hoof it forward hopefully you donuts.
Probably the most embarassing and disappointing Ipswich game i have witnessed and my first game was 1968 and believe me I have seen some poor games during that time.
Be careful what you wish for ...sure ..but there are more competent coaches out there ...and not Gary Rowatt..anyone who knows football knows that he is a younger version of MM....it will take time but lets get a coach in ..yes a coach..you know someone who coaches players to pass, move and play with committment to the team and their teammates .Im fed up with feeling this way about the team that represents our club our County and our town ..football is about the fans , young and old ,the people who spend money supporting the club, travelling to home matches and away matches, being proud to sing praises throughout the land and wider world. I hate to say it but although always proud of my club and its history I am no longer proud of what we currently represent.

Hahahahahaaaaa! What a ridiculous statement... it really proves that he has no idea at all. I think Phil should as tallguy6767 suggests forward these comments to him because I really do not think he understands the depth of feeling.

Cant believe im saying this.. I wonder why i bother supporting ipswich at all.. im a typical fan dont get me wrong but last night just proved that the club that means so much to me has gone into turmoil.. I have literally no confidence anymore that any1 including the players can make me believe that we stand any chance of doing but be mediocre championship team.. Ipswich has officially finished for business and we no longer pose a threat to any competition. god helps us if we get relegated... that stupid johnstone paints trophy would be another competition that we cannot win either.. look at that, me talking about the jpt... the joys eh

When is the penny going to drop with these numpties. Also, accepted we did play better on Saturday but against a team in the bottom three, winning by the odd goal and that was a wonder strike from a player who is not ours!!!!! Let's see how the next three games go Mr Milne against teams who are playing well and competing. It must be said also , two of them , Huddersfield and Preston must have a smaller budget than us so let's not hear the financial excuse ! And if there budget is bigger Mr Milne then it shouldn't be and you are mis managing our wonderful club at your level .

I am dismayed by this reaction. How bad does it have to get for action to be taken. It was a humiliation and clearly the players are not comfortable playing for MM anymore. It s not just this result but a lack of consistency all season. The Club is going backwards. The Team is falling apart, the stadium is falling apart, the Club is falling apart and losing support especially from the younger generation. If last night's fiasco is not a catalyst for change then we are stuck with the current regime and there will be no improvement. Ian Milne's request for fans to back MM is typical of the poor decision making at the Club regarding both on and off the field issues. I can see no light at the end of the tunnel. If MM had any decency he would fall on his sword but will not. Last night's game has left a very sour taste in my mouth that will not go away for a long time.

Stick with Mick, because you are to idol to go through the process of appointing some one else, who might rock the boat at the top.

Not not sure who and what I object to most. Milne with a pathetic statement in these hugely unhappy times or the posters on here who disguise their lack of language skills and resort to personalised expletives many of which are offensive to women and children. Grow up please and the powers that be may respond to a proper campaign of unrest.
