Varney, Touré, Tabb and Digby in U21s at Colchester

Luke Varney, Larsen Touré, Jay Tabb and Paul Digby will be involved with the U21s when they take on Colchester United at their Florence Park training ground this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Having lost nine on the trot, the U21s beat QPR 1-0 at home and then drew 1-1 at Brentford last week and will be looking to continue their improved form.

Those results have lifted Mark Kennedy’s side off the bottom of the Professional Development League Two South table.

U21s: Henly, Emmanuel, Digby, Robinson, Kenlock, Tabb, McDonnell, McLoughlin, Touré, Varney, McKendry. Subs: Marsden, C Smith, Hammond, Guldbrandsen, Blanchfield.

So has Emmanuel finished on loan, and what on earth is going on with McDonnel? Apparently Bishop like ability who couldn't play last season due to tape, then this season at Bristol City couldn't make the squad when we have all and sundry out. Can we not find him a league club to develop? Our current U21 is not working and it's frankly a loss every damn game.

Also, what is going on with Tabb? There's clearly more to it than not being favoured - funny how he hasn't played 1 second in the league but has started cup games. He would have been better than either Bru who was horrific Saturday - sorry Cm in a 4-4-2 he cannot do he's all over the shop and Foley who did quite a good job considering but was off the pace.
