Murphy Signs New Deal
Wednesday, 15th Jul 2015 14:42

Town striker Daryl Murphy has signed a new two-year deal with the Blues, effectively ending the speculation regarding his future.

Rumours that the Irish international, the subject of much transfer speculation this summer, had extended his stay with the Blues began to circulate on the TWTD Forum last night.

Murphy previously had a year to run on the contract he signed last July, with the club having an option for a further season. The new deal takes the 32-year-old through to the end of June 2017. We understand the club again has an option for a further year.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract,” Murphy told Ipswich Player HD.

“All summer I have heard the rumours and seen the stories in the papers and I’ve had my family and friends ringing me and asking me what’s going on.

“I kept telling them I wasn’t going anywhere and not to believe everything they read in the papers.

“I was just trying to enjoy my holiday. I knew that I’d be here at Ipswich when I came back for pre-season and I’m just pleased now that it’s all out of the way.

“I have always said I’m happy and settled here and that has never changed. I have never thought about moving and now, having signed a new contract, I can put all that speculation talk to bed and look forward to the new season.”

Elsewhere, former Blues loanee Giovani Dos Santos, 26, has joined MLS champions LA Galaxy on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Villarreal.

Boom, F*** off Scum, F*** off Boro, F*** off Shef Weds, F*** off Cardiff, F*** off EVERYONE who thought they would get their mits on the Champs top striker.

Yet again, it seems there has been premature whinging from some.

If I was having Kids (Which im not, cant stand the little sods) they would be being named Daryl

His loyalty to the club was never in doubt. Pleased that this will finally silence the rumour mills and allow him to dedicate his future to this club. Now become a club legend old chap!

If he can reproduce the form of last season then, and I don't see why he cannot. Then this is a massive signing for us.

Dear Norwich, unlucky. You'll just have to hope a lot of players get sent off against you to succeed.

He's come back and said look how in demand I am and got himself a pay rise

The rose tinted views of a football fans. All happy, Mr Loyal etc....... believing all the usual drivel.

But we all know if he doesn't score if the first 2 months you'll all turn very quickly and be saying why didn't we sell.....last year was a flash in the pan etc.........

Cynical or realistic you decide. Tune back in here in September to see.

If you don't understand the point of the post, reach for the down arrow if you want, I dare you!!

cromwellblue,
ok nobody knows what kind of a season Murphy will have but at this moment in time a great signing. Again we don't know what wages were on offer from any other clubs, but he has put his family's happiness in EA first, credit to him for that.
On other note, Del Santos in the USA....seems a waste, ...10 years too early for over there!

How refreshing to see a player showing loyalty to a club! Pleased to say you proved me wrong Mr Murphy.

Surely that's all part and parcel of football/business though cromwellblue?

It was never in doubt he would be receiving a better contract after topping the championship top goalscorers table, and helping our team reach the play-offs.
You would be an idiot to think otherwise.

Cheer up mate, doesn't hurt to be positive once in a while.

Loyalty, get real. I think you will find he is staying because he has been offered an improved contract and rightly so. But please don't pretend it's loyalty.

still the odd negative vibe from a few clowns on this page..this is fantastic news, who expected this..yet again another class act by mick & milne as well....not a word about it from anyone then boom !!!! job done !!!!...as for the right back situation if mick feels we need one we will be the last to know..as it should be !!, and if not & he thinks emmanuel/hammond are the answer who are we to question??.. after all if teddy bishop's name had been mentioned 12 months ago the majority of us would have said who ?? ..get the cheque book out & look how thats turned out !!
