Mings Cherries Move Odds Slashed
Wednesday, 24th Jun 2015 18:42

Premier League new boys AFC Bournemouth have emerged as surprise contenders for the signature of Blues left-back Tyrone Mings with the odds on him joining the Cherries having been slashed to 1/6 by bookmaker Skybet this afternoon.

Mings has been watched by most of the Premier League over the last year or so with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea strongly linked.

Crystal Palace had a £3.5 million offer turned down last summer, while Newcastle were reported to have made an enquiry last week when they were said to have been quoted an initial fee of £8 million for the 22-year-old, rising to £10 million once further clauses were taken into account.

Bournemouth have previously been tipped to sign Everton left-back Luke Garbutt with a loan move reported to have been close earlier in the week.

Town manager Mick McCarthy and owner Marcus Evans have both said that they are determined to keep hold of the Blues' key players this summer, while Mings is contracted to Town until the summer of 2017.

Town's spending power will again be limited by the Championship’s Financial Fair Play rules this summer with MD Ian Milne recently confirming that the Blues' close season recruitment would once more largely consist of Bosman free transfers and loans.

However, selling a player such as Mings for a big fee would give McCarthy greater scope as he looks to strengthen ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

Meanwhile, we understand the Blues are close to confirming the addition of Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles on a season-long loan.

News that the Blues are targeting the highly-rated 17-year-old first broke last week.

If true sell , he won't get better with us due to the rigours of the championship and our style of hoof.

I think Johnny Parr was hard done by last season in my opinion he was the better left back so not to fussed by Tyrone leaving for a decent fee i also believe we never saw or haven't seen the best of him going forward because he was being held back by MM or his tactics on his runs forward it seem he was not aloud to go forward more than two thirds of the pitch and then had to pass or hoof it into the box, his defending isn't that good and although a good prospect for the future overrated at present time and needs a club with different style to reach his potential which i fear he will not get here with present management.

Very sad if one of our best young players is allowed to leave after just one season playing for the blues.
Makes you question the drive of the club if this happens.

FFP is just a excuse for the invisible man to hide behind, his lack of investment last January cost us. We could now be a premier league team and building to stay there, instead we are looking to sell our young and talented players (our future) in return for bosmans that is okay if you are Rotherham and just wish to stay in the championship. If you want success you must invest and back your manager and give him a chance and just be honest with the fans of where your ambition lies.

Take the money and run!! What I'd like to know is as reported on here Milne stated that ME would make money available for MM in the transfer market, now it;s bosmans & free's!. beep beep beep This vehicle is reversing. FFS town show some ambition FFP is an absolutism joke nobody adheres to it apart from us!! Do we want PL football or are we happy to languish in the championship for another 13 years. Tired of the Bullsh£t!

The odds a based o what punters have bet NOT the probabilty of it happening.

I suspect that as with Harry Redknap taking over at PR, idiots are placing bets on some rumour. And as the bets are placed, so the odds narrow so it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

if the bookmakers 'know something' then they would close the book ie take no more bets. But as they know there are enough mug punters out there who still can't grasp why they are called bookmakers, they will continue to rake in the money.

I suspect it will be a deal for say 4 million now, Los considerable extra if Bournemouth stay up and international appearances.

Putting two and two together and getting five (blonde) there's Mings going to Bournemouth who were looking at Luke Garbutt (Everton) and Joe Royle saying recently that he would help ITFC anytime! Interesting.
