Bishop Linked With Premier League Pair
Tuesday, 21st Apr 2015 13:44

Town are reported to have put a £9 million price tag on 18-year-old midfielder Teddy Bishop.

According to The Sun, Liverpool and Arsenal are both keen on Bishop, who they claim “looks certain” to leave the club in the summer.

Town, who secured the academy product on a contract until 2018 with an option for a further year in February, are unlikely to want to cash in on Bishop at this early stage in his career and would almost certainly eventually want a fee somewhat in excess of the reported figure.

Bishop, like left-back Tyrone Mings, has been eyed by Premier League scouts throughout the season.

Meanwhile, ticket sales for Saturday’s crunch home game against Nottingham Forest have passed the 21,000 mark.

Bishop has been a great asset for the team, I just don't see why we would release him so soon, even for £9m, and I would hate to see him move up to warm the benches in the prem

My words excaltywki makes no sence although money would be nice that's even if mm got to spend any of it like cresswell.

For his development he needs to play - but in the midfield war zone that is an ITFC game?

Certain to leave us? Haven't got that impression...

No way will Teddy being going anywhere in the short term as he is better off learning his trade here. What is the point of going to the Premiership and not getting a look in.
Regarding the attendance for Saturday I sincerely hope that 21000 figure will increase to at least 24000/25000 as this is the biggest game we have had for years. Come on all you casual fans we need you !!!

Like Wickham did, Bishop needs at least another year or two before he starts to look at big clubs in the premier league.

Even if he goes one presumes he'd be loaned back to a Champ club for a season as I don't think he's gonna break into a top 4 team yet.

The "looks certain" to leave the club quote is a classic piece of tabloid sentence construction. The "looks" part totally negates the impact of using a word like "certain" after it. He either IS CERTAIN to leave or LOOKS LIKELY to leave surely, but not a mix of the two.
Nonsense journalism, saying something without actually saying it.
In any event, if Teddy wants to play Premiership football next seasonm, he would surely wait to see what league we're in first.

This would be a desaster for Bishop for he were to leave so soon in his career! Don't get me wrong 9m is a lot of money but he wouldn't even worm the bench at arsenal for a few seasons at least and would just be loaned out for a few seasons! He's good and has amazing potential but the likes of arsenal & Liverpool are looking for young talent for the fair play!! It's a waste of a promising career! The FA should do something about it, maybe they can't buy players if this age until there maybe 22. It's a joke!!

Imo he will not go if asked Micks brilliant at reasoning with players if he thought it was in Bish best interest he would let him go but as its not he will explain the reasons why and he will see sense in Mick i trust

Hope Bishop doesn't go the way of Richard Wright or Conner Wickham. Move too early and you hamper your career. However, if at 18 (im 30 now) someone said, come to arsenal, youll play 5-10 games for us and you'll earn 30,000 a week, would i have gone? Dam right i wold have. would have retired by now. But its only with hindsight that you make yourself a more valuable commodity with experience and development. The 18 year old me wouldn't have known that ( or Wickham obviously) . It will all depend on those around him. spend another couple of years here, learn the trade, and you'll be playing 10-20 games a season.

In fact adding to my last comment, the only club , bare with me, that he should consider is Aston Villa at the moment. With Sherwoods wonderful practice of blooding young players and having great success, surely he would play more there than the top 3 or 4 clubs.

What's the point of moving to a Prem side and warming the bench a lot of you ask? How about a huge signing on bonus and likely multiplying his wages by a factor of x8 on a 4 or 5 year deal, thus securing his financial future for the rest of his life............let's not forget that it's also the pinnacle for a footballer to get the chance to play football in the Prem.

Only an idiot would turn it down, he could break his leg badly or do his cruciate at any time and end up having to find a new profession paying fook all.

If a big club came in for him for the sort of money mentioned, he'd be absolutely bonkers not to go.

Well hopefully he'll be in the Prem with us...would just like to see him (and the rest of the team) with the ball at their feet a lot more...they have the ability.

It's just paper talk as I don't think he's ready to step up or indeed has shown the sort of form lately that will attract a bid. He definitely needs another season or two here and then maybe

We can't turn down £9m. We need to be realistic. We can sell Bishop to Arsenal or whoever for that, then loan him back for another season. It's a win-win from our point of view. We need money to buy other players. This is the whole point of an academy remember.

Its the Sun, wouldn't take any notice of this but he is definitely attracting the interest of clubs.

Everyone get down to Portman Road on Saturday!

I love The Bish to bits. What a fantastic young talent and a huge credit to the academy.

But £9m/£10m plus clauses (games played/sell on/international caps) would be great money to hand MM given how well he unearths diamonds in the dirt (e.g. Mings). With money like that we can compete better for new players wages demands etc.

Still, I'd hate to see him go so soon. Another year, with us, in the Prem - I'd take that.

I'd say another couple of seasons here at PR at least but only if we started to play on the ground more and hoofball less.

The Gerard replacement I guess. 2/3 more seasons at PR then he could the Ipswich gerrard maybe even future captain

This article provokes two comments
Firstly Teddy Bishop, Our youngest first teamed and one of our current proper skilful footballers and with heaps of potential. But who in my opinion does at this moment lack Some confidence and some pace that can take him clear of an opponent after he has beaten him and who might just might need to " bulk up" a bit in the gym during the close season.
Both aspects would certainly be part of his "career development"if he is lured away from Portman Road but again in my opinion he would not make the Arsenal or Liverpool first teams next season. So stay and developed here Teddy.
But as we are sadly living in the age of agents, advisers and money men there is no guarantee of that
Secondly, this Saturdays attendance should be nothing short of a full house..but I doubt it will be, but a question, how genuine is the weekly published attendance?
Those supporters entitled" to enter via the players main entrance merely " flash" their season tickets at the stewards, passing through no turnstile at that point or thereafter.
So would the reported attendance be the same whether everyone or no one, so entitled, actually used that entrance?
Or have I misunderstood the system??

Stay where you are loved Teddie for at least 2 seasons learning and improving if we are not promoted then go and have a crack at the premiership!! or go now and spend 2 seasons getting splinters in you rear end and learning from a blackboard!!!!!!!

MattinLondon added 18:55 - Apr 21
If we do not go up this season and if a club offers 9 million then I guess that he will be off. If that's the case then I hope we can negotiate a season long loan deal for him.

If we go up then I do not think that he will leave.

At the start of the season McGoldrick was worth seven million...now he's not worth half that. Football is fickle and I dont players leaving for the PL when their star shines bright.

.......... here we go again - more garbage for people to chank over.

If / when the lad is good enough - of course the Premiership would be after him - lots of playing and impressing to be done first though.

Lets move on.
