McCarthy Not Ruling Out Knockaert Loan
Monday, 23rd Feb 2015 14:23

Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s spoken to “lots of clubs about lots of players” and didn’t rule out signing Leicester winger Anthony Knockaert on loan when quizzed on his reported interest in the Frenchman.

“I’ve spoken to lots of clubs about lots of players, if someone throws that one out," he said after reports of a Town approach for the 23-year-old emerged this morning.

“He’s a quality player and if I could get somebody of that quality then why wouldn’t I? But I’ve spoken to loads of people. I don’t know how these stories get out, somebody tells [someone].”

McCarthy says he’d consider additions in all areas of his squad as long as they are an improvement those currently available to him.

“I go back to my original comment, whether we can get anybody, if they can make us better then I would try and do it,” he continued.

“Unfortunately, we’ve had injuries up front, we’ve had injuries to that department and now we’ve got three of them.

“I’m hoping Didzy’s not far away so if we get our four strikers back we’re in good shape. We’re OK, but if we can add a bit of quality, then we’ll do it.”

Quizzed on 23-year-old Knockaert’s quality, he added: “And all the others I’ve spoken to have as well!”

I have witnessed Cameron Stewart and Alex Henshall playing this season and as a supporter I was most certainly not impressed with their efforts on the pitch so Mr McCarthy who has the responsibility of getting our season back on track presumably feels the same. You can have all the skill you want but you need to have the mentality to use it and work hard. I can't see either of these players making it this season, but I'd love them to prove me wrong.

Warktheline do you know that if Ipswich are in 4 position it means they are going really well but the way we have been playing these games it seems maybe we could be sliding down the table.

I am a Ipswich supporter but one thing that Ipswich has to improve is that if you think about some of theese team that we lost against for example Rotherham,Brighton and that we drew against Birmingham, Bolton

warktheline ........... steady on, you're letting your loyalty run riot again. Some admiration for that.

Mings - Have any definite bids come in for him yet justifying / confirming the multi million tag ?? - all it is at the moment is media hype.

McGoldrick - Wanted by Premier League Clubs - previously maybe - now ?? - Premiership Clubs would doubtfully be interested in him on recent form.

Smith - The way Smith (and I rate Tommy) has played recently his form has 'turned round' alright, but not as we would want to see it. Lacking in confidence, and possibly being ask to play a certain amount of hoofball with his wrong foot - currently.

Berra - Don't think many could argue with that - had a good season but needs, at times, to liaise with his keeper better !!

Murphy - Defying all the odds currently, scoring well in a team which creates nothing for him from midfield, all credit to whoever - but what could he have done with more service ??

And 'as for a 'p' to 'p' in - How do we know ME has refused MM anything he may have asked for - ME may just feel that MM has the players at his disposal (played differently maybe, utilised better in rightful / best positions ) to do better. Odds are that he speaks to people within the game - other than MM, and asks opinions, outside of the Club, but within the game.He has close knowledgable contacts for sure.

Admire your dedication, as you know - but sometimes I feel you let it obscure your vision.
On your self admittance you say 'you cannot get to Portman Road' as often as you would like (totally understood) - if you had been able to do so, and seen what many of us have seen - maybe you would understand where we are coming from much better.

Good to debate - unfortunately not everyone understands what is written, and therefore - misinterprets what is actually said / meant.

Of course, we are currently fourth, whether we will be this time next week remains to be seen, and thsi is a much better season in terms of points gained - but what many try to point out is :-

IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER, THUS FAR. We could have been leading this lot - NOT FOURTH.

BIG WEEK THIS - let's crack it - with 6 points. Are we up for it ?? - time will tell.

At the start of December we had the chance to go first and we went first for a few hours but than when we had the chance to go in first position we BLEW IT away so come on Ipswich start attacking and be positive because you have got some supporters that really want this promotion.

Blueboy1981 is the only one who has demonstrated a good grasp of the current situation and that is said very simply that with our current style of football we will go nowhere and Norwich will be licking their lips. Whilst warktheline's support for McCarthy is admirable, he is in risk of becoming his lapdog. The fact remains that in our present state of mind we will blow a late Summer and Autumn's good work by dint of a manager who is afraid of change and presumably would never confess to making poor selections and being unable or maybe incapacle of changing his tactics.Remember fortune always favours the brave and we now need to stick our neck out.

Hindsight? He signed Henshall, Stewart, Ambrose, Banjer, Sammon, Parr who don't feature or gone, Anderson who is average, plays Tabb who he wanted rid of this summer, plays Chambers and Bishop out of position and you wonder why people scratch heads . Midfield that can't score but fails to address and happy with hoofball. It's not hindsight it's his judgment. And before anyone says yes Bart okay and Bru too but no world beater. It's his inflexibility and stubbornness which will prove to be his and our undoing. History repeating itself in a way . MM takes teams so far then found out. Shame ITFC won't even do a Wolves or Sunderland .

This is a tricky one while im glad were looking at tricky wingers but what confuses me us why aren't we giving the ones at the club a chance. Henshall Stewart for example. It's not like their fatigued from playing loads. We could do with playing with a bit of width. Far to narrow

Walk the Line, I do admire your ignorant and naive staunch support of McCarthy. I'm glad for you that you are satisfied by our manager and style of play. Those with a better understanding of football and more ambition- hold on and keep hoping- Mick will not be here forever!!

Freebies. Meaning they cost nowt.... We can't afford, supposedly, to buy players, therefore he picks up what he can, and gives it a twirl.
