Boro Return to the Top
Wednesday, 18th Feb 2015 22:08

Ten-man Middlesbrough returned to the top of the Championship following a 1-1 draw at Birmingham.

The Midlanders went ahead just before half-time from the penalty spot via Paul Caddis after Boro keeper Dimi Konstantopoulos was red-carded for bringing down Clayton Donaldson.

However, the Teessiders hit back on 74 minutes though on-loan Chelsea man Patrick Bamford.

The result moves Boro up to 60 points, a point ahead of Bournemouth, who lead third-placed Derby on goal difference with Town two points behind the Cherries and Rams in fourth on 57.

Would have taken that before the game a shame Donaldson missed a golden chance at the death. All to play for with two home games coming up.

Indeed pleased with this weeks results as all those above us dropped some points.
It's all about us though. As long as we win it doesn't really matter about the rest.

This time last week would be delighted if you were told this is how results would go!

Good result considering Middlesbrough could have been 8 points ahead of us by the time we play Reading.

Livid with Birmingham, 1-0 up against 10 men - mind you sounds like our game at home to Blackburn, what a complete sickener that was - it felt worse than the defeat by the Budgies. 93rd minute mugging, by far the worst team to visit PR this season.

Got to be happy with how the results have gone this week. Good to see others having a jittery time as well as us.. Some interesting fixtures for those around us Saturday Watford v Norwich and Brentford v Bournmouth are two to watch.
So long as we win I will be happy to let the gods decide the rest!!!!!

After our BLIP it seemed that we might be sliding down towards the relegation fight and the sacking of our manager (if you believed the tone of some posts on here) !

But to be only 3 points off the top after such a disappointing blip is amazing - and confirms my view that we will finish top four - top 6 for certain.

As others have already said, we have some tough games to come, but lots of the top sides have to play each other .... I'm looking for a lot of draws .... whilst we pick up 3 points in our games of course !!

We CAN do this - will be tough and a great achievement, but we CAN

We have certainly got some good games against with those around us which might probably decide our fate for this season (GOOD I HOPE) with Watford, Middlesboro, Norwich, and Wolves all away, then Bournemouth, Brentford, at home. I think I have covered those around us ??

Norwich could really do us a few favours this seasons if they manage to beat/draw with the teams above us still

Any of the top 6 could win this league. Norwich are, unfortunately, only 7 points off the running now.
It is pivotal we smash their sorry arses next Sunday.

Good result all round. We are happy boro didn't win, whilst they will be pleased with a point when one down and with just ten men. It's congested at the top.

Just go for second spot,...i dont care about winning the league. I just cant bear the drama & trauma of play-offs.
