Stewart to Miss First Six Weeks of the Season
Monday, 4th Aug 2014 20:06

Recent signing Cameron Stewart is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his jaw during Saturday’s 1-1 friendly draw at Leyton Orient.

“Cameron was caught by an arm late on in the game on Saturday and the scan has shown that he has fractured his jaw,” Blues physio Matt Byard told the club site.

“He will have surgery in the morning and we will see where we stand from there but for that type of injury, you are looking at between four to six weeks on the sidelines.”

Stewart joined the Blues on a free transfer in July having been released by Hull City after a proposed switch to his former loan side Leeds broke down.

In addition to Stewart, fellow winger Stephen Hunt was absent for all Town’s pre-season games with a calf injury and will also miss Saturday’s season opener at home to Fulham (Sky Sports 1/HD1, KO 5.15pm).

Tommy Smith and Paul Anderson were left out of the team at Brisbane Road due to groin and hamstring injuries respectively but on Saturday manager Mick McCarthy said he expected them to be OK for the Cottagers’ visit, while Jonny Parr suffered a groin problem against the O’s.

Meanwhile, former Blue Scott Barron has been forced to hang up his boots at the age of 28 due to a hip problem.

The left-back or midfielder came through the academy at Playford Road and broke into the Town first team under Joe Royle, making 16 starts and one sub appearance before moving on to Millwall in 2007. He was most recently with Brentford.

......well,well,well ...... so much for a small squad being adequate.

People will wake up eventually - to the reality of what, and where we really are.

Jack Marriott goes in Micks office whats your problem Jack?chirps Mick, i was wondering if i was starting on Saturday i scored two goals three if you count the one dis-aloud in pre season which was not offside with less game time than the others so i think i deserve to start . Mick) i don't care how many goals you score i want to see you doing the dirty stuff defending in our half i don't care about scoring as long as we stop the b--stards playing and not letting them score when you step up with your defending i will consider it,but im a striker Mick my job is to score goals, why do you think i play Frank Nouble he charges up and down the park scarring the s--t out of everyone with his pace take a leaf out off his book he doesn't have to score to get a start most weeks, look at Hyam, skuse and different class Tabby they do the dirty stuff week in week out we just have to keep hoofing the ball up to murph every time we get it then when it comes back hoof it up again perhaps Mcgoldrick will pick up a loose ball now and again and score a few goals for us so we will win a few games i want to see you doing the dirty stuff then we will see you are a little to young as yet to be in my team okay lad p--s off now and stay away from Paul Taylor and tell Tyrone hes sh-t as well............ just to put a smile back on one or two faces i hope..

Don't understand why everyone's bigging up Fulham.
They've got rid of a lot of the clowns who took them down, and replaced them with foreigners or kids who've come thro the ranks. Yes, they've got some money, but they need to get off to a good start like the rest of us.
I reckon we'll show them that the Championship is not gonna be an easy ride on Sat.

Fulham had one of the worst away records last season, they let in 47 goals away from home. However, I can't see us scoring so we'll do our usual and kick start their season with an away win.

Stecklenberg
Voser, Bodurov,
Tunnicliffe,Parker,Kacanlikic,Ruiz
McCormack,Rodalllega

Dembele,Mitrogulou.Williams ,Christenson

They would all be in my Ipswich Squad if they played for us on Saturday - Berra and Chambers or Smith only town players I would select , that's why I would be bigging up Fulham ...Yorksblue , but if you think Tabb , Nouble, Murphy, Hyam etc are better fair play

We could always wait and see what happens on Saturday and moan / celebrate / discuss after that.

Just a thought.

We won't play with any wide wingers till the last 10 minutes so not the end of the world.Mick will be looking to keep the game tight and nick one from a corner or set piece in the first few games I'm sure.

Surco72. Nothing there to frighten me. As others say, let's wait and see.
