Chopra: I Don't Have to Leave
Monday, 6th May 2013 10:49

Striker Michael Chopra says it’ll be down to him whether he leaves Town this summer, having been told that the Blues will listen to offers for him along with team-mate Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

Chopra tweeted: “Just coz I'm on the transfer list does not mean I have to leave. I have one year left on my contract it’s down to the player if he wants to go or not.”

The 29-year-old, who joined the Blues from Cardiff for £1 million in the summer of 2011, was the subject of loan offers from Hull City and other clubs in January but manager Mick McCarthy was unwilling to allow him to move on at that time.

Ex-Arsenal man Emmanuel-Thomas, 22, also has a year left on his Town contract.

You will be leaving Chopra for a lot of reasons,Your not bigger than the club we love and your well past it .Get off your backside and pay us back what you owe and show the Town fans who have paid for your gambling losses some respect and just go to whoever will take you instead of being like a 3 year old insisting your staying.PS,why have you blocked me on Twitter, cant you take it ?I knew Mick would see through you ,Cheeerio

Gambling is a disease, but ITFC is not a branch of the NHS. £18K or whatever less stoppages times 52 weeks will disappear into the bookies' pockets soon enough. I genuinely hope that you can sort this problem out Michael, but your time at our club is up. We were warned. You should never have been signed.

Simple solution here; if he won't play make him work- he is after all contracted to the club. if he refuses to spend his time working (ie general jobs around the club) fine him; make him train by himself - Chopra may think he is the one in the driving seat here; but what te Neanderthal doesn't realise is there are many ways ITFC can have much more power.

In many respects I feel sorry for MC. He was brought in to do a job but was never given the means to do it. For me PJ is ultimately responsible. When you bring in quality players you need to maximise their talents. Playing Chopra up top on his own was never going to be a good idea and I can see that for him, pulling on the blue shirt was not necessarily the keys to the kingdom. That said however, he has let himself down and put himself in an impossible position. While it is true that contractually he does not need to do anything and can sit on his hands for the next year or so. It is clear now that he cannot make an argument to feature in MM's future plans. For the benefit of all he needs to go, and quickly.

Michael Chopra is such a TW*T dont want him anything to do with this club, all he does is mug the club off on twitter. one post about him sitting on the bench sees him reply with 'i dont care i still get payed' .

F*CKK OFF USELESS GAMLING ADDICT

Shame really, I was hoping his tweet read I don't have to stay. Hopefully Mick will get our attack sorted and we never have to see Chopra anywhere near the first team ever again.
Hopefully someone will offer to take him, either on loan or a free, I don't care. The other option is to pay him off but if he really is on £18k a week that would be expensive.

If Chopra thinks he can stay, sit in the stand and collect his salary then he's got another thing coming because MM can make his life a total misery if he tries that.

Chopra needs another club or, with his gambling addiction, I can see him being bankrupt.

Chopra needs to realise how much ITFC pulled him out of the s*t and also realise how poor he has been and his bad attitudue - if he has a brain he will take whatever is on offer Wolves would be a great match...!!!LOL

Less of the negative posts on here, makes both parties look like numpties to me.. Micheal Chopra represented us in our shirt and is still our player, so deserves some backing at this time

If he doesn't go, he won't play and if he doesn't play, no club will want him in a year's time and certainly not on the money we pay him. So Chopra, I think you'll find it in your interests to bugger off.

I'm afraid Mr Chopra is the epitomy of the modern day footballer. Too much money at too young a age and no sense what to do with it! This comment more than makes me angry and is the exact reason we should pay up his contract and put him on the srap heap. For once the man should show some humility and maturity considering the assistance he has been given with his addiction problems. Perhaps the least he could do if he is here next season is show some pride wearing blue and white. Goals I fear may be too much to ask for!

I think the club ME and the club can hold its collective head high about the way they have treated Chopra. Says a lot for the club. Imagine if he had been under the managership of today's man in the news SAF, Chopra woudn't have received 'the hairdryer treatment' he would have received the hairdryer itself!

Chopra is doing himself no good at all where does he think he will go after us?His attitude is what gets the game a bad name.

FREELOADER ! a waste of space [and money] he has been all take and no give ..He didnt have a good reputation when Town bought him,but most of us thought he would be a player to get goals ,something lacking at the time. This past season he has been a non event. He can say all he likes about playing for his place, before the season started he was gobbing off about getting a shed load of goals, what a joke . Ihope he is gone asap.
