Redknapp: I Wish DJ Was Here
Friday, 14th Dec 2012 10:33

QPR manager Harry Redknapp says he wishes striker DJ Campbell was at Loftus Road and not on loan with the Blues. The 31-year-old, whose spell is up on January 5th, has scored eight goals in 12 games for Town.

Redknapp says he's yet to speak to anyone regarding Campbell's future but suggests the striker won't be available for sale on his return to West London: “DJ has done very well for Ipswich.

"I wish he was here now, he'd be very useful for us. He's an enthusiastic player who gives everything, which is what you need."

QPR are currently short of options up front with Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora both injured. Campbell was left out of the 25-man squad named in August, making him ineligible until the next transfer window.

Town boss Mick McCarthy has said he wants sign Campbell on a permanent basis but is yet to hold talks with his QPR counterpart.

The player himself, whose contract is up at the end of the season, has said he is looking for a permanent move if he isn't in QPR's plans rather than an extension to his loan.

'Arry, it's just not that type of party.

I don't see this as a bad thing. DJ has done well for us, his goals have certainly made a big impact, but i still think Chopra still has a lot to offer, this spell out of the team may have done him good. We also have Taylor to come back next season and no doubt Mick will have other targets of his own in mind.

To be honest, I think this clearly shows that Campbell won't be an Ipswich Town player come January. You can't blame them either; 8 goals in 12 games will always attract interest not only from the parent club but from others. It was inevitable.

We'd better start getting a replacement! I suggest Grant Holt, or why not sign Leon McKenzie? I'm sure they'd jump at the chance of playing for us. Or why not get Dion Dublin off Final Score - I'm sure he's got something to offer still! Or as a last resort, why not bring back the legend that is Alan Lee?

They are all better players than DJ in my opinion and they wouldn't break the bank.

What are you saying Liastro! You are either clearly deluded or just looking for attention - you should be ashamed to call yourself a Town Fan.

I personally think that McCarthy will try all he can to persuade Redknapp to let us keep him.

Ebanks-Blake will be on Micks radar in January, who i believe is still only 26, so i personally don,t think "Town" will pay out for DJ who at 31 has less shelf life, however, he has been a revelation up front for us.

To be honest i think Harry's just trying to get a higher price for DJ. He'll need all the funds he can get hold of in january and with a player doing so well it's only natural he highlights it to get clubs interested! I'm quietly confident he'll sign permanently.

Nahki Wells from bradford would be a good replacement.

I think any of the strikers we have would be able to step up to the plate, now that we finally have a manager who has the formation right, the players in their best positions and a coach who can bring the best out of them. The fault in the past few years has been down to poor management and poor coaching. Hoofing long balls up to a lone shrimp up front was never going to work- just can't see why Keane and Jewell couldn't see the bleedin' obvious for themselves. What we'll now do is build the squad from our academy and scouting the lower leagues, developing players for ourselves. Which ironically fits in with Clegg's brief of controlling spending in preparation for Financial Fair Play. At last, all the ducks are in a row.

DJ was not in the 25 named, so even if he was back at Loftus Road, Harry would not be able to play him.

So this is just talk, talk, talk. Glad Harry didn't end up here after all.

No reason to give up on DJ coming to Town.He is banging in the goals, Arry is stating the obvious ,DJ appears to be happy with things at Town he may opt to move when able. Dont give up on it , COYB .

I really dont think Harry is going to bother trying to go around the houses talking about DJ to get a higher prive why bother hes got loads more to think about than an extra 100,000 he might get on top of a fee.
I think he seriously thinks DJ is better than he has the moment and hes probably right

Lets put the boot on the other foot if it was a Ipswich striker loaned out to some other team and he had scored as many goals as DJ and Ipswich were struggling bottom of the league then they would want him back to so we cant blame harry for that.
DJ has been great for us and i am sure he will score a few more goals before he go back to QPR and good luck to the guy.
Town fans will love him for what he has done for us and he will always get a warm welcome when ever he come and play at Portman road.
Who knows maybe he will be a town player one day.
